Super 7 Ultimates Thread

So' it looks like Super7 has done a re-issue run on some figures that had become harder to come by... Lion-O (of course), Slythe, Bengali and Mandora. They are of course listed at the new standard $65 price... But it gives me hope that we may see some of these in the Deluxe line next year. I definitely would buy more Bengali at Delux prices. Not gonna bite at $65 though.
I want another Mandora. The one I have is riding the Electro Charger on a separate shelf, but I don't have her represented in my main display. And my favorite Thundercats design deserves it! I'm not fond of $65, but I don't think she'll be a candidate for the deluxe format.

It makes sense for them to do reissues, and even reach at $65, if aftermarket prices have gone nuts on some of their figures. $65 looks better when the alternative is over $100. That said, I still think they're nuts for trying to make $65 the new standard price. I don't see Ultimates surviving much longer there. They can probably get by if there are enough heavy hitters in deep lines like Thundercats and Silverhawks because people will pay a premium if it's to finish off a collection, but for anything newer it seems like a non-starter.

It does feel like the sort of thing we would have seen by now if it was gonna happen. How many people are out there willing to pay $65 a pop for Super7’s take on Tigersharks? I can’t imagine it’s a lot.

Not me, that’s for sure. Zero connection there.

I received deluxe Snarf today. Not a bad figure! I’ve only got the Amaro Snarf, which only has swivel cuts at the neck, shoulders, and hips. I like the articulation on this guy, swivel hinges at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, knees, tail, ankle rockers, ball socket hips and neck. The “toy colors” aren’t awful, but among the differences are no yellow fur painted on the arms or tail. He comes with a satchel and the closed Eye of Thundera also in toy colors. Glad to have waited, $55 seemed way too steep. Even $35 isn’t great but it’s an improvement.

Sight unseen I'm interested in them. I'm willing to see what they have to offer, especially how they would handle the two different forms each character has.

At the same time, it's a lot easier to pass on an overpriced line when I'm not already invested in it.

The only thing that might be a saving grace for Tiger Sharks is that Super7 did say they are moving away from long preorders and into the near ready-to-ready to ship format. So announcements won't be coming out super early anymore but rather much closer to when the items are available.

So there is an outside chance they are still in the works, but.......

They didn't do that with the latest wave of Silverhawks. Those were announced in the last couple of weeks, but aren't due to hit til March (and I'm betting they actually hit even later).

< sheepishly raises hand >

I will admit that I would pay the ask to get the core Tiger Sharks line up into my collection. I don't want to, but I probably would.

I just wonder if Super7 has ruined most of its good will at this point (some would probably argue they never had any to begin with) and if it can really launch a new line. I guess if everyone into Silverhawks is yearning for Tiger Sharks then that might be good enough, assuming they only want a handful of characters (I say that as someone who has zero memory of Tiger Sharks so I have no idea who is essential and who is not). If they want to launch a new license, it almost feels like they need one that doesn’t overlap with existing licenses so they can take advantage of a customer base unfamiliar with their product.

I have very little I'd still want from Super7's Ultimates... Except Shipwreck and Tomax & Xamot. They're the only characters I feel are still missing from that line.
