General Marvel Legends

Yep, it worked on me for years.

And you start to feel like some sort of addict when you tell your significant other or friends, yeah I just need this dude cuz I'm only building out the outback team. Once I have the outback team and the 91 Jim Lee team, I don't need anyone else. But there was that crossover so I'm also going to build out X-Force. But I don't need anyone else once X-Force is done. But you may as well build X Factor even though I didn't read that book at the time.

But...

I got the Target Outback Storm yesterday. Aside from the hair, which I don't care for, and the cape, which is objectively terrible, it's a good figure. Interestingly, she's charcoal gray rather than black. That caught me off guard.

Outback's my favorite look for Storm, so I'm glad to have her. She'll replace the MAFEX Jim Lee Storm in my collection.
They never did an AOA storm did they? That's the closest hair I imagine with that costume. The boxed set short hair is close but not what I envision.

I think Blackheart is pretty great. Both as a Ghost Rider villain and as an overall powerhouse Marvel villain. Plus he’s necessary if you are getting the Marvel vs Capcom style Gamerverse figures.

Totally agree. Yeah, his tail could be more mobile, but Blackheart is a great figure imo as well.

My contribution to the Blackheart discussion is do not leave him around kittens. My goddamned kitten, who is one of the most affectionate cats I've ever had and have nothing bad to say about him other htan this, nibbled the tip of my Blackheart's tail off and I still hold a grudge against him for this. He is why Dragon Man is currently locked byind a door instead of on my shelf.

Yeah I don’t like the angle the tail sticks out at for Blackheart, and the feet and hair have obvious limitations for neck movement and standing but I think it’s a really good figure for the overall silhouette and engineering otherwise so it’s hard for me to discard except that the surface texture makes it unlikely to ever be reused and hurts your hands when playing about with poses.

If you want him for shelf presence but are unlikely to ever pose him again much I’d say just buy Moon Knight for the Blackheart head and stick it on a movie Venom body so he can stand ominously in the background and the lack of tail is only an unseen bonus.

As others have said, if you’re going to make the tail hard to bend, then have it default to an angle pointing towards the ground. Poking straight backwards at 90 degrees is no use to any pose you want to hit, makes him harder to balance and risks knocking over your other figures in a display.

That gripe aside (and it’s something I’ll get around to custom fixing at some point), it’s a nice looking figure. He hits his arms-spread victory pose from MVC nicely and looks imposing, so that’s his box ticked.

Or Norm's dog.
Don't leave any toys around Norm's dog.

Saw Weapon X Wolvie in Target. They had a slew of him. I left him. While the pinless limbs are better, no paint on the helmet and electronic gear on his waist when the original did is a big step the wrong way.

I feel like that's Hasbro's MO. Especially with Marvel. Do one thing better, and one thing worse. You can really see the 'well, we can't give them EVERYTHING' attitude in most figures. It's a big part of what turned me off to Marvel Legends over the last few years.

Got Mystique and Storm from EB today. I really like them both. The coloring on Storm's uniform is very nice and the articulation is great. Mystique makes the old Walgreens exclusive figure very obsolete. Surprisingly good figures.

That's what I like to hear. I'm getting Storm in from Target tomorrow. Will have to wait a while for Mystique I guess, but good to know they're solid.

I was just able to order Punisher and Daredevil and use the Target sale to get $10 off. Nice.

I'm still on the fence about Storm. I don't doubt she's a good figure (well........I do have my doubts about the cape), just not sure I want to commit to the Outback era. I do like that era, but I've completed the Cockrum/Byrne era and the Jim Lee era.......do I call it good for X-Men now? I could technically chase down these various eras of X-men until the end of time. When is enough enough?

Outback X-Men are them at their very coolest. Now that they've started OG X-Factor, an 80s/late 80s X-shelf is on my radar for ML. You can basically peg it to exactly where everyone was in 1988 - the Outback X-team, OG X-Factor, the New Mutants, and early Excalibur.
