General Marvel Legends

It wasn't new info, but it did address a perspective I actually rarely hear people voice--and that's probably because I don't read Reddit much anymore and most people here are already aware of his point. His simple point is you can't compare the base, the comic, and the added paint apps that Toy Biz figures came with to modern figures because Toy Biz was owned by Marvel so there were no royalties to be paid like Hasbro has to do.

Bobby Vala backed him up and also added that the modern way that paint deco is applied is far more expensive than it used to be although he didn't give any detail for why that is and I don't know myself. If anyone knows how the toy production process has changed to make it more expensive like Vala was referring to please do share.

I haven't gotten to the end of the thread to see if anyone else might have offered any ideas, but from my watching reviews of LEGO & other brick building products by JANGBricks, the pad printing on pieces is more expensive than the UV printing technique. I don't know if that follows with figures, but that could be one reason.

Not sure if this is right place for this, is the Blackheart baf worth completing? I've only known him through the Hearts Of Darkness story, Ultimate Alliance game and the first Ghost Rider movie. I could always put the Brother Voodoo figure on the Gambit shelf as he appears in one of Gambits solo runs.
Just want opinions before I sell off the BH parts I already have. Thanks

He's okay. The tail isn't super bendy and I don't think he has many good poses, but he does have a good presence.

If you don't have a strong attachments to the character or Marvel versus Capcom's roster, you might as well bounce it to someone who does.

Well so much for saying I was happy with the RYV Spidey enough that I didn't need the Maximum Spidey because he wasn't my ideal version of Spider-Man. I found him at a toy show yesterday for $45 and I caved and bought him. I am not disappointed, I am such a hypocrite and weak!!

I was reposing mine yesterday and I decided I did not like him. The hair and neck peg restrict the head from being able to look up very much at all and the tail is so frustrating because it just won't bend except for near the tip. He's also difficult to stand because of the feet. The Toybiz figure was exceptional and this one isn't an upgrade over that one, truthfully.

The tail is so dumb. It's not exclusive to them because I've had other bendy things that also don't do it. I don't know if it's a safety thing. I only just learned the other day why the bendy things have the little holes all over - it's where they hold the wire for the mold injection?

Anyway. Yeah honestly if you don't even care about the character why have him. That's my motto. Saves me money so that I can make stupid $200 impulse purchases in the middle of the night.

Absolutely no shade on Gambitfan intended here at all, but those types of questions always feel so strange to me. At least lacking context. I think we have a pretty good idea of -general- ML quality at this point and there's tons of photos and videos out there. So it really comes down mostly to 'do you really like this character?' If the answer, as it appears to be, is 'I don't really care at all about this character,' then why would you want the figure even if people say it's pretty good and -they- like it?

I wanted Blackheart because I'm a big GR fan. At the same time, I did not want him enough to track down and pay for like four figures I didn't want.

No shade taken here, all good.
The only reason I asked was because I have the Ketch GR because the episode of the 90s Hulk cartoon with him in was one of my favourites and I was thinking does he need his bad guy too but BH never appeared in any of the 90s cartoons (which is what I'm basing my collection besides Moon Knight and Gambit related characters).

Got it. But my dude, and I've done this myself, that is a shitty game to play with yourself. Can't tell you how many figures I've sold off (usually for way less than what I paid) that I originally only bought because they go with something else I bought, and not because I actually liked or wanted it.

I think you've got a good theme going. Stick GR with Hulk and I honestly think, long-term, you'll be happier than having GR off in a corner with a character you don't know much about and certainly don't care about.

Yeah, I've been there.

Better get their villain. Their sidekick. Their love interest. You start to wonder why you have these things. I actually sold off all my X-Men villains but Creed, Magneto, and Mystique because of space and while I like them in books... At the end of the day I really just wanted the blue and gold team on my desk to relive the halcyon days of my youth.

It actually felt really nice to sell off Thanos and Venom from the MVC sets because now I can't be complete. And in a dumb way, it kind of removes that urge.

I think when it comes to my Marvel collection I'll stick to the characters that appeared in the 90s cartoons plus Gambit and Moon Knight related characters. With black series I've stuck to ESB and there's other lines based on movie franchises I love that I've stuck to one film (Aliens and Predator) and not dipped into figures based on the other films or media for those franchises.

Also these interactions of you guys being helpful and speaking of your collecting experiences and how you base your collections, are the reasons I love the collecting community. Outside of my collecting, I'm going through a bit of a health nightmare atm so thank you for being kind, helpful and making me smile 😃

Dude. MULTIPLE times I've bought a Wolverine (one of my favs) and because I had Wolverine, I bought Jean because that's his love interest, even if unrequited (except AoA, I suppose). Then because I had Jean, I HAD to get the corresponding Scott. And if I've already got Jean and Scott AND Wolverine (and I usually also have a Gambit because he's a favorite of mine too, and Rogue because Rogue goes with Gambit....) then I just might as well get whoever else is part of whatever costume era it is. Like... it gets ridiculous. And I've done it more times than I care to count.

Got Dazzler because that's Shatterstar's mom and Longshot's wife. Gotta get that Rictor because I've got Shatterstar. But I've also got Cable, and if I have Cable I gotta get Domino. And if I have Rictor, Shatterstar, Cable, and Domino, then I might as well get Cannonball, Boom Boom, Feral, and Warpath. And now I've got X-Force together so I might as well get all the X-Force villains. Oh, Shatterstar killed Arcade once, so I'll grab that Arcade too. And you've gotta have Mojo if you have Shatterstar and Longshot, but if you've got Mojo you have to get Spiral........

Especially in the world of comic book crossover relationships, this kind of thinking will drive you out of your mind.

I got the Target Outback Storm yesterday. Aside from the hair, which I don't care for, and the cape, which is objectively terrible, it's a good figure. Interestingly, she's charcoal gray rather than black. That caught me off guard.

Outback's my favorite look for Storm, so I'm glad to have her. She'll replace the MAFEX Jim Lee Storm in my collection.
