I like the 80s vol 2 handbook version of WBN, the best. Which, I guess is also the 90s handbook version, too.
It wasn't new info, but it did address a perspective I actually rarely hear people voice--and that's probably because I don't read Reddit much anymore and most people here are already aware of his point. His simple point is you can't compare the base, the comic, and the added paint apps that Toy Biz figures came with to modern figures because Toy Biz was owned by Marvel so there were no royalties to be paid like Hasbro has to do.
Bobby Vala backed him up and also added that the modern way that paint deco is applied is far more expensive than it used to be although he didn't give any detail for why that is and I don't know myself. If anyone knows how the toy production process has changed to make it more expensive like Vala was referring to please do share.
I was reposing mine yesterday and I decided I did not like him. The hair and neck peg restrict the head from being able to look up very much at all and the tail is so frustrating because it just won't bend except for near the tip. He's also difficult to stand because of the feet. The Toybiz figure was exceptional and this one isn't an upgrade over that one, truthfully. Not sure if this is right place for this, is the Blackheart baf worth completing? I've only known him through the Hearts Of Darkness story, Ultimate Alliance game and the first Ghost Rider movie. I could always put the Brother Voodoo figure on the Gambit shelf as he appears in one of Gambits solo runs.
Just want opinions before I sell off the BH parts I already have. Thanks
No shade taken here, all good.Absolutely no shade on Gambitfan intended here at all, but those types of questions always feel so strange to me. At least lacking context. I think we have a pretty good idea of -general- ML quality at this point and there's tons of photos and videos out there. So it really comes down mostly to 'do you really like this character?' If the answer, as it appears to be, is 'I don't really care at all about this character,' then why would you want the figure even if people say it's pretty good and -they- like it?
I wanted Blackheart because I'm a big GR fan. At the same time, I did not want him enough to track down and pay for like four figures I didn't want.
Got it. But my dude, and I've done this myself, that is a shitty game to play with yourself. Can't tell you how many figures I've sold off (usually for way less than what I paid) that I originally only bought because they go with something else I bought, and not because I actually liked or wanted it.The only reason I asked was because I have the Ketch GR because the episode of the 90s Hulk cartoon with him in was one of my favourites and I was thinking does he need his bad guy too but BH never appeared in any of the 90s cartoons (which is what I'm basing my collection besides Moon Knight and Gambit related characters).
Yeah, I've been there.
Better get their villain. Their sidekick. Their love interest. You start to wonder why you have these things. I actually sold off all my X-Men villains but Creed, Magneto, and Mystique because of space and while I like them in books... At the end of the day I really just wanted the blue and gold team on my desk to relive the halcyon days of my youth.
It actually felt really nice to sell off Thanos and Venom from the MVC sets because now I can't be complete. And in a dumb way, it kind of removes that urge.
