Masters of the Universe: Origins

I can't decide what to do with my second Swift Wind. I got two to open one and keep one in the box. But I might open the second one so I can display the horsey as both Swift Wind and Spirit.

If I do open the second one to display as Spirit, I think I'll stand him upright on all fours like a normal horse. As opposed to the Jackson Pollock on crack pose that Justice went with.
That is my special horse! He ain't hurtin' no one and you best leave him alone.

Mine still hasn't shipped yet.
Did you order your set as soon as it went up, when the Club Grayskull members ordered, or did you order it the day after when it was available to everyone?

I just wondered if you ordered it the day after if maybe Mattel shipped out all the Club Grayskull members orders first. If you ordered it day one, I don't know what is going on.

Have you contacted Mattel Creations?

I ordered a few minutes after it went live for Club members.

I emailed them, their response: "After review, I see that your order has been released to the warehouse and is being prepared for shipment."

From the packaging to everything inside, I can only classify Swiftwind as a glorious release. I never keep packaging, but this one will be sticking around. It might go in the closet or I might display the artwork. She-Ra and Swiftwind are both excellent......don't know if I could have asked for much else with this release. This one will be high on the top ten list of the year.

My figure room is due for some rearranging so my plan is to put Castle Greyskull somewhere in the center and have this set dangling from the ceiling above.

I saw that too and added it to my favorites list along with the two Masterverse Vintage Collection figures (which still have yet to be revealed what characters they are).

Also, did you guys see they showed carded pictures of Wave 1 of the Cartoon 200X figures? It's He-Man, Stratos, and Tri Klops. I was interested to hear what you all thought. Something about He-Mans face looks off to me. But I want to see better, closer pics. But they do capture the look and essence of the 200X Cartoon.

Here is a link to the MOC pics of Wave 1 in the Cartoon 200X Collection.

I have a few problems with He-Man. The body and attire/armor look good. But his head sculpt seems really odd to me. He looks kind of derpy, and not at all like the cartoon. It also looks like there is no paint detail on the Power Sword, just flat grey, and he comes with no shield or axe.

I don't know. I may actually pass on these. I really just want the rest of the vintage collection made in its retro toy form, and other new first-time characters made in toy form, not cartoon form. I'm sure I will always buy any Filmation Cartoon Collection figures they release on Creations just because I already have the rest of that collection, and my love for the Filmation Cartoon. But I don't know if I have to have all the same characters again, for the 3rd time in one line, just this time in their 200X looks.

But who knows. I won't make any absolute decisions just yet.

Origins isn't a high-detail expression to begin with, but they look cheap. This is certainly extremely low-effort. And honestly, it's typical of Mattel. Ask anyone that collects Mattel (my wife is an ex-Monster High collector). Once a line is popular, they sink the quality assuming you'll just keep buying. They did it with MOTUC as well. I didn't really expect any paint detail on the power sword, but not even giving him his shield -OR- axe in addition to the sword just feels so cheap and scummy.

Oh god. The abomination... Well, one less thing to buy.

Dear Mattel, can we have an ice cream cone?

What's that you say, collectors? You want an apple? Here you go!

No, an ice cream cone.

See, we've got you a kiwi fruit!

Please, just give us an ice cream cone.

Look, we have brought you...a SHRUBBERY!

FFS.

Yeah, that's not great (he said kindly, instead of screaming "That bitch don't look right!") Honestly though, I'm glad. It just further helps me decide not to buy the 200X sub line. MOTU Toy inspired figures and Filmation Cartoon inspired figures. Thats where I'll leave it.

I don't even like giving Mattel money right now if it's not to finish the vintage collection. And I know I mention finishing the vintage collection a lot, but they promised to finish it. And I will absolutely keep buying Origins product after they finish it, but as I lifelong He-Man fan, I really want that collection finished.

I wanted it in Classics and got it. Now I want it in Origins, and I even want it in Masterverse.

I will say this though; it was hard to tell what the head sculpt for sure looked like on the regular 200X He-Man in those MOC pics yesterday. But on that Samurai He-Man Deluxe figures page on Wal-Marts website, you can see the 200X He-Man head sculpt head sculpt very well. And it does look good. So, I'm glad to see that.

This.
This is where I'm at. The one exception I'm making at this point is '87 movie Masterverse. Besides that, Mattel can fuck off until they do what they said they were going to do and stop disrespecting the people that supported them enough to even get to this point with the Origins expression.
