Man! I was going through all the "yes on Daina" posts and realized she is probably the only OG I would get... maaaaaaybe Horror Show, but definitely Daina. Having a Russian member of Special Counter-Terrorist Unit Delta would be really cool because my custom filecards show I have a few soviets already in Cobra. But then you say outloud exactly what is Hasbro's most likely route.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's a factor. If this was 15 years ago? Probs. Right now, probs not. I think it was a bit different during the 80's Cold War era in that you could have quasi sympathetic characters from the USSR without it seeming like you where pandering or ignoring real world issues as there was very little active conflict going on. But today with them engaging in a conflict that is viewed by the majority of the world in a negative light, I can see where Hasbro doesn't want to get anywhere near it. Ain't sticking their toes in that mud. Personally, I think the characters need a total recon as far as their origins. Make them from the region, just not affiliated with any real world government.
This is just wonderful and has single handedly gotten me interested in the whole team. Damn you.
