Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I’d be surprised if they did more than the symbiote as a Maximum variant since with a small number of releases per year the character slots would be limited and there’s others who I expect would be higher on the list.

A Maximum Miles or Ghost Spider would be something I could envisage seeing happen but more likely I reckon the next Spider-related Maximum release would be a deluxe Venom, and maybe not for a year or more down the road.

However, once updated tooling has occurred in Maximum I could see it filtering into standard release carded updates so maybe we’ll see an updated Scarlet Spider in that form but without all the extra accessories?

Agreed. Until we see otherwise, Maximum is going to likely be A-list characters in very recognizable costumes. For Spidey, that's probably just classic red and blue and symbiote.

Apropos of nothing, but this sentence made me curious - so I looked up 'what is the difference between envisage and envision' and I learned they mean exactly the same thing but envision is the word preferred in US English while envisage is the term preferred by Brits, etc.

So now I know.

And knowing is half the ba...whoops...wrong thread!

I did a rough calculation of the exchange and figured i might order it as that would feel more reasonable to my wallet but then when I had it in cart it still came to about £51 with taxes to get sent to the UK so I've held off,

If it gets dropped to the £30 region then I think I'll bite. The uncertainty of whether the soft torso will hold up to time or degrade is making me think it's the body i'll possibly swap Maestro parts onto while switching the new hands and feet onto that body, and if the chest piece starts to peel and crack in a couple of years then it will at least look like Maestro is suffering the wear of time physically, lol.

On a general note though, I hope that slow sales of this Hulk and the commentary on how gappy the torso looks at the diaphragm have already made Hasbro decide not to try a squishy torso again. There are other beefy characters I'd like to see get updates or even their first time around and would hate if we got something like a squishy overlays Stegron that won't hold up to a lot of posing.

Adams reviews crack me. As I get older my back aches thinking about how he is doing his reviews hunching over. I’m looking forward to the figure with more bulk. I’m a sucker for all the DP figures. I was hoping the movie would have had Hasbro throw in a cowboy or manga style ninja Deadpool. I love my Pirate DP enough I made him a ship.

Thwipp!

I got Deadpool yesterday, and I have to admit, I'm very whelmed by him. He's a nice scupt, mostly, but some of the articulation doesn't work to the extent that I would like it to. The ab crunch feels very hindered by the belt, the neck is an odd set up, and the butterflies don't feel as good as they could be. I'm also sorely missing an expressive masked head sculpt in this set. Overall, there's a lot of great accessories in the set and the base figure is good, but as we're seeing with Maximum Series i'm just not sure that the price point is justified.

It's such an odd line. I doubt this is the case, but it feels like Spider-Man was the only one they actually planned to release in this series. From the sounds of it, DP is a good (but not great) new sculpt with a ton of accessories thrown in, and Hulk is a fairly disappointing rerelease. They started with a bang, and everything since has been mediocre or lacking.

Let's hope the next figures—symbiote Spidey and Thor, IIRC—are more like Spider-Man. I need this line to get to Wolverine and Daredevil at the very least.

Well to be fair, I think Spider-Man is very far from the value of the pricepoint. The figure itself is pretty good, with a couple minor gripes for me on come of the choices made (I hate a super big spider emblem and the eyes are too far apart), however a lot of the accessories in that set are no good. The alternate masked head looks like he's had a stroke, the unmasked head is just flat out bad, the floppy web lines are utterly useless, even the web net and web sperm just have limited utility IMO. It's hard for me to really get behind Spider-Man when half of what he comes with is junk. Hulk, forget about it.. IMO that release is a straight up disaster. Deadpool I think gets us to a good spot with accessories, but I would have loved an expressive masked option in the box and theres a couple things about the articulation could have been better.

If the leaks are true, Symbiote Spider-Man I would probably skip unless he REALLY blew me away. Thor, give me a Heroic Age figure and take a page or two from Mafex's Thor's accessories and I would be happy.
