This can put to rest any rumors of McFarlane dropping the DC license because he is getting the Marvel license.

I was always a bit skeptical they'd drop it, just couldn't imagine who else would take it nor did it seem like Hasbro, even considering licensing fees, would want to turn away that much business.

I wasn't too worried about it but I am glad to see it confirmed! Zero desire on my part for anyone else to take over Marvel 6" figures. There are other innovations out there from other companies I'd love to see them learn from, but it's hard to imagine anyone else putting out the volume of excellent figures they manage year after year.

Yeah. Minus irritations largely born of material realities, I think the ML line overall has delivered better and better figures year over year. I know there's a lot of grumpiness when a new figure seems like it should be better because some part has already been made but not included, or when the hands or other accessories aren't the best, but I think a lot of that is stuff like molds being already in use for other runs. They have an ever increasing part catalog, but I doubt they've got multiple molds for most given parts, and runs take time to manufacture, so they're constantly playing tetris with the reuse.

And given those limitations, the line still manages some real bangers.

For Star Wars we have the endless parade of troopers, but that pays for a tremendous amount of top-to-bottom new figures every year. And in some ways you've got to appreciate that you're never more than 12 months away from a stormtrooper or clone trooper release.

I wonder if Disney blinked and lowered their percentage per figure they take? I’ve heard with Star Wars it’s like 30% per item’s MSRP, which is why you may get a single accessory at most with a Star Wars figure without it being ‘deluxe,’ which is equivalent to a regular GI Joe figure. The fact they called SW out a couple of times in earnings reports as not being profitable, they probably had Disney where they wanted them to negotiate a better contract this time.

There's enough new Star Wars media that I don't pay attention to. They make plenty of figures for that stuff, so that's a bunch of easy skips for me. But I do hope they make more figures of characters I'm familiar with. The prequel resurgence has been nice. Wouldn't mind more from the OT like Nien Nunb and Lobot. Maybe some more Ewoks or Tattooine weirdos. I'd also just love a really good protocol droid mold. They upgraded most of the main OT cast, but Threepio really needs the same treatment.

Oops, sorry, this isn't a Black Series thread (or forum). I guess I'm just glad to see a unified aesthetic continue with the same company. I'm glad Hasbro will continue with Marvel. There's still plenty I want.

I do suspect at least some of what we were hearing re: license was noise deliberately generated to help negotiations.

Same. I buy about 2 SWB figures a year now. I made a rule that I don't buy anything from any new shows.

I'm excited to see this. ML, Black Series, G.I. Classified, and Transformers are the bulk of my collecting and I'm super happy with the state of all those lines.

Man this makes me happy. I really love that we are getting some great upgrades and deep cut heroes and villains now because the line has been around so long. I did not and probably would not start over with another company. So many characters I still need! Come on Western Heroes!!

I'll be honest, I'd forgotten about the talk of them losing the license, but I was still happy to see the renewal. I wouldn't have wanted to start over with another company, especially after as long as it's been. Like others have said- they've really stepped it up in the last couple of years; the likeness on some of the newer figures is just as good, if not better, than some higher end figures, and they're slowly implementing better articulation that really add to the value. I've been really surprised with some of the latest Black Series offerings- a couple figures released together that I didn't think we'd get for a while, and if we did, they'd trickle out. Don't wanna look into it too much, but it did/does feel like Hasbro is maaayyyyybe getting a little more adventurous with some of their offerings, which tells me that their relationship with Disney is probably pretty good, or their budget increased or something. Regardless, despite my occasional grumpiness here and there, I'm quite happy with Hasbro of late, and look forward to what the next couple years bring (and how many of their kids I put through college with the amount of money I give them)!

I'm almost at that point. I make an exception for stormtrooper designs I like and sith. And Boba Fett, if he comes back. Otherwise I have a list that has one prequel character, several OT people, and a ton of EU stuff.

This is a huge sigh of relief from me. I'm very happy with Hasbro in general, other than overpricing and oversaturation of the same A-list characters over and over and over.
