Funny enough, I used that Recondo when I was making Joe "redos" for Gung-Ho.

That bear mask once again makes me ask the question I ask so often with older toy designs: what drugs were they on, and can I have some.

The hat. He worse Recondo's hat so they went with the most obvious visual comp. Even though Jesse is Gung-Ho sized and Recondo is not Jesse sized.
 
And we've said many times on this forum, but a lot of the POC guys could just be sized up and be perfect for Classified. Come on, they made Duke pretty awesome, and all the Snakes Eyes you can eat!

I have a friend who is built just like and looks just like Gung-Ho, is out and proud, and in my head I just always relate the two because my buddy is the type of biker-bruiser who kind of lives and breathes "I HOPE some motherfucker tries to hate crime me tonight," and so if Gung-Ho was ever in a scandal as far as I'm concerned, it's when he started throwing haymakers at bigots during Don't Ask, Don't Tell.

I mean, statistically there's gotta be, though during Hama's original era comics weren't exactly warm and welcoming places for those characters. But also to be fair, we only have a small percentage of Joes we've ever seen in ANY relationship so it really is up to whoever's writing the story at the time. Could probably count canonical couples on both hands, max.

  • Duke/Scarlett (BOOOOOO)
  • Flint/Lady Jaye
  • Ripcord/Bongo (personal all time favorite)
  • Shipwreck and maybe Cover Girl? Am I remembering that right?
  • Falcon sexually harassing Jinx
  • Clutch being kind of a hetero pig
  • Mainframe punching up by scoring Zarana, and goddamn, good for him
  • And of course the ultimate couple, Destro and Baroness

I gotta be missing a few but there ain't many.
