Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Okay, so I WANTED this duo, but because I just improved my orc warband I wasn't in a RUSH to get the duo, but holy crap it'll be here TOMORROW? Record shipping for 4H. Not a complaint, just absolutely shocked. They never ship this fast!
Mine are arriving today; even in stock items never reached me that fast. It's especially weird as I'm accustomed to waiting well over a year after POing Mythic Legions figures. I could get used to this.

yeah, I ordered in-stock amoury nights last year and they took a month to get to me. They must've had this already in shippers just waiting for labels or something.

Otho and Urzokk are predictably great. I opened Otho first and thought he would be my favorite of the two- loved the head options and extra gripping hands with both vertical and horizontal hinges. The weapons and shield are terrific; the ax is painted beautifully and I love the customization option for the shield. The 4H really turned me around on my stance on 1/12 soft goods. They dialed it in to the point that I feel it adds a lot of value to the figure.

Then I opened Urzokk. Man, I love the new parts and those head sculpts (and paint) are just outstanding. Love his shield and weapons as well. My only nit is that I wish he came with more than one pair of hands. Otherwise, very happy with these two figures.

Their soft goods the past few waves have been incredible. I'm not in love with the new Cosmic wave but the jacket on one of the figures is the best trench coat at this scale I've seen in a long time, Sir Andrew's cape is legit cool, and the overlay on the knight is excellent design in how it never interferes with ROM.

Yeah Sir Andrew and Enoch are both so cool. Love the soft goods surcoats and capes now!

Can’t wait for Otho and Urzokk! Tracking says they should arrive tomorrow!

Got the two new fellas today. They almost feel like a new line because they're such a step up in a lot of design decisions, but a couple of weird things:

For both of them, they have GREAT baldrics, but their shoulder armor actively makes it hard to use them (they are both designed to store weapons on their backs). Urzokk's spiked neck guard does the same thing, and his baldric is FANTASTIC, it has a braided leather look I don't remember seeing in this line before.

Otho comes with one piece for his pulled-back dreadlocks that can be swapped between his heads. I found that once you remove them from the first head (mine came attached to his lion helmet head) the piece just isn't as secure anymore. It it nice to be able to move it to indicate motion, though.

Maybe it's just because I have them side by side, but while everything about the new Urzokk is better, compared to old Urzokk he feels almost too much? Like he's the fully CGI'd film version and the other one is the messy but charming practical effects. That being said, I actually like the new Urzokk more than I expected, just feels less charming than the old one? (I never had 1.0 Otho so I can't compare.)

Upsides - all the new stuff is gorgeous. Their weapons and shields are great. Tons of detail on Urzokk's armor we haven't seen before (Othos is on the newer knight body but we've talked about how good that one is already). I think my favorite little bit is Urzokk's sword, bcause you an see how it has the full tang handle wrapped in leather, just a very cool detail - it's a sword made for killing, as opposed to Otho's axe which looks like a master craftsman's work of art. Another beautiful detail - Urzokk has the SUBTLEST head stubble on his scalp! I love that. Just a hint showing that he shaves his head and isn't completely bald.

It's funny, Otho IMMEDIATELY looks at home and perfect amongst the new knights we got over the past year. Like just slots right in, looks beautiful. But Urzokk makes the older orcs look kinda sad. Like an evolutionary leap forward for the species.

Big problem with this line is that modularity comes at the price of joint integrity. The pegs aregenerally too short and moving limbs/parts and especially popping and swapping them often loosens them thereafter. I can't think of another line since maybe DCUC where simply moving joints had such a deleterious impact on the quality/tightness of joints.

Still love this line and have been almost all-in from the start but the joint design is a continual source of frustration.

My Otho and Urzokk should be arriving Monday, so I can't weigh in on them too much. I have both of the originals and do think the new versions look great. I welcome any and all orcs for my horde.

One aspect of these two figures I really like, beyond new weapons and parts, are the expressing orc heads. I've been asking for these for a while. Some alternate heads with actual emotional expressions would bring a lot of variety to displays and pics. (Some) skeletons have moving jaws, so there's some variety there. But some screaming, scowling, and teeth-clenching heads for figures would be great. Hopefully they make similar heads for other factions as well. Not sure how much room they have with the swappable face plates, but maybe some expressions there as well.
