Wrestling Toys (Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, etc.)

I saw a pic from SDCC of UE Tiffany with a new waist that appears to be a ball joint. Unfortunately, all the elites still have a waist cut, but the render of UE Chelsea appears to have the new articulation.
That's amazing. I was really wondering what she'd have with those trunks, because they sit high and would block a normal waist swivel. Do you have the pic is it strong proof? For me it would make her an easy buy.

Just when I think I'm out, Jazwares makes their SDCC AEW exclusive available for everyone and has a hell of a showing.

I was scrolling Instagram this morning and saw this closeup pic. I assume it's articulated, but I haven't tried to find a confirmation. Usually wfigs will post an interview with Mattel after a big show. I did preorder this one when it went up, should be released in early Sept.

Had the transparent John Cena on preorder for months. Walmart canceled it.

Mattel did a decent job on Ultimate Tiffy's new torso articulation. It's range is not at the level of Jada or the new Wolverine, but certainly better than Classified females. Butterfly is surprisingly good front to back. I thought her anatomy might block her ability to touch her hands in the front, but she can do it. Ultimate Bailey can't. Might be better than Psylocke's butterfly. Mattel always has to do something questionable. Why are we still using old boots? I could be wrong, but they look like the same style as Charlotte, Rhea, and Jade.

I often, before I gave up on Mattel being a good company, would ask myself questions like 'why are they re-using this?' WWE figures represent some of Mattel's, a billion dollar company, most profitable products. I get so sick of them turning out their pockets and crying pauper all the time when it comes to making outdated or inaccurate figures just because they couldn't be bothered to make new parts.
(They've literally never made a Billy Gunn that's actually accurate to what he wore when he was active in WWE.)

@Damien on WFigs, Mattel gets accused of going by the "spreadsheet". Once the wrong is chosen, they continue to use the wrong part over and over again. I've seen custom Billy Gunns with either Sting or Road Warrior boots. They're not perfect, but more acceptable, so they have a decent alternative.
I forgot the new articulated boots were first used on Tiffany's elite figure about a year ago.

I think that sums it up pretty well. It's so frustratingly brain-dead that no one at Mattel seems to even look at the figures they make. Because anyone working on a wrestling action figure line holding itself up as being all about the details and accuracy, should be able to look at a figure and say 'oh, that's actually wildly inaccurate.' But they either don't notice or don't care. I'm not sure which is worse.

BUT, it's saved me thousands of dollars over the years because every time I think I might get into collecting them again. Mattel's stupidity/laziness/cheapness talks me out of buying huge amounts of wrestling figures every year.

That Tiff is like... The non smiley face is close. But I don't wanna hear any WWE fanboys talk about Jazwares likenesses with recent Mattel stuff.

WWE fanboys are weird anyway. For like the first three years of Mattel I remember people swearing up, down, and sideways that JAKKS figures were superior to Mattel.
Which is true, I suppose, if you think Rey Mysterio, Undertaker, and Kelly Kelly should all share the same body.

I get not wanting to start over, but that was crazy talk back then.

The new Monday Night War figures are in the area while my Brian Pillman preorder says November 14. I'm feeling too lazy to see if my store has any and will have to wait until tomorrow.

I got Mariah May over the weekend too. The sculpt is often there, I'd like to see jazwares take a shot at face printing. The paint apps on their gear is usually excellent.

That Mariah is very close. From my level of perfection I would probably need to look at a couple copies because especially on their female figures it needs to be dialed in or it's off.

But you have now set me on the path to find that Mariah.
