Looks like the Monkeywrench/Cobra Commander/Snake Eyes/Major Blood wave is hitting lots of places, found it at two Targets yesterday. I picked up Monkeywrench. He's really good, especially love that I didn't need to heat up the joints at all, he moves perfectly right out of the package.
 
I finally found one of those fabled collector kiosks at a Walmart 25 minutes away, but any Crystal Balls they had were long gone. I had two separate preorders on this guy and they both got cancelled last month. I wonder if there wouldn’t have been so many cancellations if they hadn’t done this big collector spot push in the stores.

Unfortunately Walmart treats preorders secondary to stocking stores, yes. They don't put a copy aside for you when pre-ordering, you're essentially ordering an out-of-stock item in case a distribution center near you stocks it. Best to complain to CS every time they cancel, tell them how disappointed you are with your treatment and at least get a $10 off code to use. Use it on something in-stock though, lmao.

Yeah, they’ve done this to me before, and I did get a $10 code for my troubles. It felt like they’d finally gotten their act together last year, as I don’t think I had anything cancelled, but this year seems to have them going back to their old habits.
 
From what a friend was seeing online, the Walmart "Collector spot" island is so sporadic in stores is because stores have to basically request it, because they either have the space they can dedicate to it, or they think the product will sell well if they get it.
 
Got an email from Pulse that an order had left the building and it turns out to be the Dial-Tone that I preordered last week!!!

SWEET!!! I missed out on him before and glad to get him for retail now.
 
I did see a few items re-stock at the 1 Walmart by me that has it. War Machine / Omega Red, U.S. Agent/Sentry, Excellion and Sideways Transformers, Spirit Spider, and Aayla Secura. The dolls on the endcap on the other hand haven't budged.
 
Absolute BARE minimum financial responsibility moment for me tonight. Doing my "I need a moment of zen" reordering the Joes thing I've been doing the past few months and was like: okay, who's shipping soon? Who do I need to save room for? So I checked on my preorders and saw I must've gotten way too bloody enthusiastic about Slice and Dice because I'd ordered two sets. I think at the time I was like "MUST USE MULTIPLE HEADS" or something, but... overkill. Turns out you can't cancel one of a multi-order on Pulse, or at least I couldn't. But! Two pack still in stock. Cancel the double order, place a new order... and aw that it's scheduled to ship (allegedly) TOMORROW. I could see wanting that second set later but I definitely don't need to spend that fifty bucks.

Still waiting on Monkeywrench and CC from Pulse and I'm pretty sure my lack fo time to go to a physical store is why I don't have MW yet. (Also eyeballing my shipping date on Cover Girl from Amazon with the infinite patience of a cranky toddler.)
 
I definitely want to use that second slice head but think its more interesting than Dices real head so I may try it on him. Or save it for something later on. But that may be my favorite second head so far
 
I was actually JUST about to bite the bullet on the Slice/Dice set, myself. It's a not-small expense in CAD, so I was waffling a lot. Decided to go for it. And then got hit with a several hundred dollar vet bill. So I'mma have to wait and see if that set hangs around for a few months while I recover.

I'm hoping this set lingers a bit - I think they are beloved characters for SOME Joe collectors but not universally so. If they live long enough to go on sale I could see picking up an extra set in a year, but who knows.

We found out the company that re-sided our house (and fucked us over on it) left a gap that let water trickle into the electrical box for the past year so we're having the whole thing replaced on Weds. I know I earn a good ball-busting for buying too many action figures, but aside from toys I kind of live like I might get laid off or suffer a fatal myocardial infarction in every other aspect of my lfe and don't have kids, so managed to stash away a pretty solid "oh shit" fund for stuff like this, but the electrical work is the first bill in a while that has me canceling preorders. I've actually got the cash on hand to pay for it but now my "live in fear of economic devastation" brain is taking the wheel again. (My partner's student loan payments just jumped up to $1,100 a month after all the changes under Trump so I'm picking up even more of the household stuff so she can cover her loans and medical bills. I swear the best thing that could happen to her is for me to keel over so she can sell my stuff and pay off her student loans.)
