Marvel Legends Gamerverse

I was alerted to my first earthquake when a Hulk figure by my bed fell and hit the floor HARD. I had just gotten out of the shower and my roommate was home so I couldn't stand in the doorframe, but Hulk scared me so bad I almost needed another shower.

No more Hulks near the bed.

I'm not even sure the new Juggernaut will be better than the knockoff someone in China made a few years ago that's on the 80th Hulk body. I bought that back in 2022, and it's surprisingly excellent. The range of motion on 80th Hulk is better than any of the Juggernauts, and that makes this new one particularly disappointing that its range of motion will mostly be worse than that one.

The new one will be bigger, which might be enough for it to be worthwhile regardless of the faults. I kind of want it just because it will be bigger. Has anyone seen a comparison yet with the Select? I imagine Gamerverse is a couple inches taller.

Speaking of heavy toys, MS Juggernaut is in his own category!

It baffles me that they went through all that trouble to make a bigger and better thing, and it is just really bigger. The articulation is no better. And since he is so big, and comes from the games where he is squatting 100% of the time (he isn't in a win pose) and this one can't even come close to that squat... No thanks. Maybe on deep discount.

I'm shocked this guy didn't get the ball joint waist. Sure, his costume is a straight line at that point, but... so?

Got my first shipment of the Gamerverse stuff and it was the 2 pack I was least looking forward to. Walmart Canada is shipping the War Machine and Omega Red set. It's a decent version of War Machine, but the legs aren't colored correctly. Doesn't bother me, but would just like to see pinless arms and legs used knowing they exist after the Secret Wars Iron Man. Omega Red looks nicer and a bit more detailed than the last release - which I think was in the Wolverine 5 pack. All of the new era releases of Omega Red have been decent, but this one has the best face sculpt and deco. Happy with the 2 pack, but can't wait for the Cap, Wolverine and Psylocke sets.

Agreed. It's just such a 'lazy' release, for lack of a better term. New sculpt, but basically zero investment in engineering to actually make it a good figure. Hilarious to me that they made an all new Wolverine and sold it in all the promo material by showing all the game-accurate stuff it can do, but then didn't bother to do the same thing for Juggernaut?

Speaking of which...I reassembled my War Machine after taking apart his legs and painting them black:

It's still not my favorite thing and was a lot more difficult than expected (the hips have hard plastic "cases" inside so I had to crack them open). Maybe using Modular's legs would be better but I didn't want to remove them from that figure. Cannon blast effect is from the Classified Dragonfly and hand blast effects are from Fan Channel/Modular War Machine.

Was it really necessary to take it apart? I was just going to paint.

After going back and forth with myself for a month I finally cancelled my pre-orders for Shuma and Juggernaut. Juggernaut I've got a version of already, and I'm not so attached to him that I really need a new one. Shuma is the same. I do love a good weird monster, but not enough. FOMO won't get me this time. And saved myself enough money to easily cover the last few Marvel Legends I do think I want (Mystique and Rachel) plus some of the other stuff I have on pre-order.

I'm not understanding the pre-hate on Shuma. I've watched two reviews on him and he looks spectacular. Are you just skeptical about the long-term durability of the arms?

I don't get that perspective. What if it turns out that the legs last fine? Either way we won't know for many years or maybe even decades.

Literally just what I said here. I like a good weird monster, but not enough. He costs money and he takes up space and I could use that for stuff I have more attachment to. The arms might be bad or good, but that's a small part of the mental math. The greater part is "am I buying him because I *really* like him, or because I'd feel like I was missing out if I didn't". And the more I thought about it the more it felt like the latter.

Honestly the reviews of Juggernaut didn't really sway me. The one i have has limited articulation already. This one looks as good or better. But the question was, do I want him because I'm so attached to Juggy that the one I've got isn't enough? Or is it just something new and shiny? Other than wanting a shelf full of X-Villains, it's just him being new and shiny. There are X-villains I will upgrade to better versions when they come (Magneto for example). But Juggernaut? The one I have is fine.

Again, I can look past all engineering issues...

...if it just looked like the fucking game's art.

I mean, amazing that the X-Men 97 line has dedicated sculpts that are specific to that show.

But you can't do the same for this line? Funny how SHF can. So, yeah...maybe we won't get as many characters in that line. But based on the fact that it looks like I am looking at the actual Capcom control art I feel confident in my decision to cancel all of the Hasbro stuff and spend a little more on something that actually looks like the thing it's supposed to be.

"Inspired by" doesn't cut it for me.

Damn so you’re not even going to buy the Captain America/venom and Wolverine/Samurai sets so that way you can use those figures as valid 616 representations?
