Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

I received my Moss Men. Good thing I got two. One has a face that’s misaligned with the hairline, with a noticeable gap. Also has a dot of paint on his nose, same color as the eyebrows. The second has a better face to hair alignment, but a random orange splotch of paint in his hair! Creations has been shoddy QC for me lately.

Aside from that, he’s nice. I can confirm that the body is the same as deluxe Beast Man. That actually takes some of the luster off of him for me. I do expect reuse in this line. But I thought this was a new body.

There’s a ton of plant armor on him that helps distinguish him from Beast Man. He has different hands and feet too, and obviously the head. The loincloth is new and not removable. The shoulder armor, bicep wraps, forearm wrap and bracer, shin wraps and belt with knife sheathe are all removable, though some parts like the shin wraps require removing the feet.

He has a nice new club, a dagger, and an alternate hand that is extended vines. I’m hoping the vine hand accessory from wave one Moss Man is compatible but I’m pretty sure those older figures used smaller wrist pegs.

His package bio says this is a Moss Man that’s been fragmented in his personality, more of a wild force rather than guardian of flora. He’s lost his mind. That made me sad.

So while I dig his imposing size, apparently he’s not as new as I’d hoped. It makes it feel like there’s less value for my buck, since I remember deluxe Beast Man getting discounted. He does look different enough with the new armor, even bigger than dx Beast Man, so that’s a positive. This one will go with my New Eternia figures.

For $35 and having no soft goods, I feel like at least an extra head would have gone a long way. The one we got is good but after seeing so many badly-glued Evil-Lynn helmets, I'm not surprised the hairline is misaligned on yours. QC on the glued parts is pretty shoddy lately.

Kobra Khan arrived today via Amazon. After my lukewarm reaction to Moss Man, now we’re talking.

Khan is an all new sculpt as far as I can tell. He’s cast in an irridescent green that really stands out. He has some scales sculpted into his shoulders, but that’s about it for that kind of texture. His lithe limbs being smooth may be instances of reuse, but I have no other figures handy to compare.

Articulation is standard, but he has some really nice range in the neck, and a hinged lower jaw. He has removable plates on his chest and the back of his head to swap out a bare chest/Snake Men emblem, and his bald/and hooded looks. He also has swappable articulated claws to emulate the vintage figure, but I prefer the standard gripping hands, which can hold his pistol and Clawful like club very well. Lastly he has an acid blast effect that can spew from his mouth or attach to the barrel of his pistol.

I have very little attachment to Khan, not having had him growing up, and missing out on the Classics version. This guy is so well done he might win me over. His color pops, he poses well, and has a variety of display options. That’s what this line is all about.

I got Moss Man yesterday but just opened him up. I really like this figure a lot. It's big, it's bulky, it's Moss (to the theme of Slinky or Log if you will.) But he just looks cool. I really like all the armor and belts and the mossy, vine belt with the knife sheath. Which I honestly though came already on him. But it was an accessory.

Even though you can tell it is the Beast Man body, and that apish vibe is there, there are enough details of vines, wood, and forestry all over him to make him look unique and really stand out.

Yep, I like him.

After reading NORM's post and review, now I have to go and make sure his head and hairline are lined up.

This is my second favorite (well third, if you count the one from the unproduced fourth season of the CGI show) look for Moss Man behind the 200X design. I don't care for the old toys where he was a straight Beast Man repaint, and flocking is a bug rather than a feature to me. So this will probably be my favorite Moss Man figure until/unless Mondo knocks one out of the park in their 1/12 line.

Really like the new Moss Man. I'm surprised he didn't come with open/closed hands for both left and right, but I usually like to have characters with one weapon-gripping hand and one with a more expressive pose so it's fine. I did not get a bum figure with the hairline, which is a relief. My only complaint, realy, is the paint on the roots/branches on his feet are sticky, like they never fully dried. Wondering if I should hit them with a bit of varnish to be safe.

I got Moss Man and Snout Spout yesterday.

I really like both, but be careful with Moss Man. I tried to remove his LEFT (open) hand to attach the vines there, and it nearly ripped off at the peg. The hand is now still attached, but dangling. I wouldn't risk moving it much at that joint again.

Not awesome.

Man, that sucks about the left hand. I'm sorry that happened. I had some trouble myself with the hands, but no breakage. I noticed on both the right and left hands of my Moss Man, that they were really hard to turn, especially rotate all the way around. it was like they were stiff and stuck and wouldn't turn a full 360 degrees. But I seemed to have worked them out.

Both of his elbow joints were extremely tight too. I had to very carefully work them out so they would bend.

But Snout Spout is such a great figure. He is one of my favorites. Hopefully your Snout Spout was all good.

Yeah, he turned out great!

I'm a big fan of both ... I just wish Moss Man's wrists were a bit stronger.

Yeah I love that snout spout

Knowing that Mantenna and Mosquitor are coming, I was thinking. There aren't that many characters from the vintage MOTU Collection that Mattel hasn't made in Masterverse yet.

Extendar, Rio Blast, Rokkon, Stonedar, Saurod, Blast Attack, Tung Lashor, King Hiss, Rattlor, Snake Face, Squeeze, Dragstor, Multi Bot, and Modulok.

Everyone else from the vintage collection has got a figure in Masterverse be it Revelations/Revolutions, New Eternia, Classic, or Movie.

I have a case on the way of the newest series from Entertainment Earth. Comes with an extra Hordak. Does anyone want him at cost?

Anyone else get their Amazon Kobra Khan bumped from a shipping date to "Order Received"? Hopefully he comes in-stock soon. Although really I'm more hyped for those new previewed figures than anything hitting right now.
