Jada Toys Scooby Doo

I pulled up the Creeper episode and got a screenshot for my background. Got to love those moody old 60s/70s backgrounds.

It cannot be overstated how incredible those backgrounds were on that show. I truly think that the reason many later incarnations of SD don't quite click with me is the absence of the brilliant backgrounds. They really added an amazing dimension to the show, and provided a truly unique feel that has never been matched in animation since. I think I'm going to need to print out a bunch of these for my display when I finally get these.

100%. Scooby Doo was the first thing I came across in life that made me like things like storms, old creaky houses, and forlorn country roads. That later led to my love of horror but my mother was overprotective when I was a kid so for the longest time Scooby Doo WAS my horror.

Same, 100%! I grew up in a Fundamentalist Christian household, and was forbidden to watch horror aside from black & white flicks from Universal, and silly giant irradiated animal movies. Scooby and Universal Monster movies were my gateway to horror, for sure. For years, Scooby Doo was my daily fix of spooky!

I'd also argue that a lot of the animation in newer Scooby shows/movies just feels too clean and clear. A product of the time, of course, but there's really something to be said for that older, darker grain and grit. The colors, too, seem to all have gotten brighter and crisper. I know these days, folks are all about crystal clear resolution and all that, but it's like remastering an old horror game or something (the infamous Silent Hill 2 HD remaster from a decade or so ago, for instance)- you really lose some of that "oomph" by cleaning things up too much. Don't get me wrong- I still love Scooby and always will, but you're right- nothing compares to the OG.

Anywho, I'm chomping at the bit to get these in hand, and ya'll's awesome photos aren't helping. A shipping label was made for my order on the 12th, but USPS still isn't in possession of it. Sounds like a job for Mystery Inc. 🤪

Well, wouldn't ya know it, my tracking never updated, but wave 1 showed up on my doorstep. Sounds like all I had to do was invoke the name of a certain gang of meddling kids!

Hot diggity, ya'll- I'm a happy boy having these in-hand. Our weather here was borderline fall-like today, and the combo of that and these figures just made me so happy. Sturdy articulation, great sculpts, clean paint, fun boxes, clever accessories. Just well-made figures all-around. Really couldn't be happier with how they turned out, and just the fact that we're getting new Scooby figures in this day and age. Not that I wasn't gonna be, but I'm all-in on this line, and really hope we won't have to wait too too long for wave 2 and beyond.

I didn't think about it until just now, but I really want a Luna Ghost figure.
Man, the Luna Ghost would be such a cool addition, and easy enough to stylize into an animated look. I pretty distinctly remember seeing pegs full of the Luna Ghost and Demons back in the day, and always wanting one, but never being able to. If only I'd had the wherewithal at 9 years old to know better. Youth truly is wasted on the young.

It's really lovely to see the live action movies get a reappraisal of late. They really are fun, harmless little flicks, especially with their scripts being done by James Gunn. On the figure front, I'd happily take an Evil Masked Figure from Monsters Unleashed, and, while not the movies, a Mastermind from Night of 100 Frights. That game stole countless hours of my time back in the day, and still holds up!

Some Mystery Incorporated stuff would be great too.

I’d love figures of The Freak or Professor Pericles.
