Tracking toy tariffs

I've seen a house in Connecticut with a flagpole waving the Confederate flag at the top and a Boston Bruins flag right below.

I have, unfortunately. Back in school when I was younger. I don't remember his name now, but he used to always wear Goldberg shirts. Should've known he was nuts cause of that alone. But dude was picking on my friend and another one of his friends and I stepped in. Punches were thrown. Neither of us came out looking very nice. And had a wonderful out of school suspension for what was basically aggravated assault lol. Ahh the 90s.

Sometimes the Trump people in the bluest of states feel the need to be seen and heard the most. I used to drive by a house in my town on the way to Target that would always have the most garish of Trump signs in his yard that he has since taken down. I can only assume it was impacting his business (he often has a vehicle for sale in his driveway so I assume he works with automobiles) so he took it down, not that he had some sudden change of heart. Same for the local pest controller that lives in my neighborhood. Though in his defense, the Trump flag he was brandishing came down after January 6 so maybe his opinion did change, though I doubt it.

I realize I can research this and probably find out, but if anyone here just knows off the top of their heads figured I'd ask. I've got something coming to me from Japan through ebay. It did the exit customs declaration yesterday, but presuming it doesn't get through US customs before the 29th, am I looking at another $80 fee?

It's nice to see that most of us here aren't MAGA.

As for permanently ending the de minimis exception, that would effectively kill the US import market for companies like Mafex and Figuarts. The price goes from an already expensive $80-$90 for a standard figure to the $135 BBTS charges. That's double what these figures were going for just a few years ago. I'd guess it'll price most people out of what was already a pretty small market.

It also seems like it's going to continue to be a total clusterfuck with packages still coming in for now but basically the rest of the world saying they're not going to ship packages to the US through their postal services going forward.

Trump fucking sucks for so many reasons -- and the cost of action figures is obviously very low on the list of harm he's done -- but this is the first time in my life a president has actively harmed one of my hobbies in a way that is directly attributable to them.

There's so many things Presidents get blamed for that they have little or no control over, or where their responsibility is diluted through other bureaucracies or influenced by random shit in the world. It is nice to finally have one where there is just no question. This thing is now fucked up, and THIS MOTHERFUCKER RIGHT HERE is the one who fucked it up. In some ways it's refreshing that he 100% owns it. Dead to rights. It's his and his alone.

Got a letter from Nin Nin today saying starting tomorrow they are suspending all shipments to the USA, and that the entire Japan Post might follow later in the week. No word on how long they'll cease shipping, it's TBD right now. Like other sites, they are offering unlimited hold time on Private Warehouses.

I paid $88 w/shipping for MAFEX Rogue with them, which was already steep, but $22 less than BBTS shipped (actually ~$34 less than BBTS if I'm also including tax.) Looks like she'll be $168 shipped with the de minimis added in. Which is a little more expensive than what it would have cost me to have ordered two MAFEX figures, shipped.

I'm going to keep her and the other stuff in my warehouse all in Japan, as well as whatever POs come in through the fall/winter (I have three more with them) to see if the TACO TACO's. Nothing I ordered from China ever got hit with a de minimis, even though it was supposed to, but they may have finally figured out how to charge it to US customers. I had 3 packages come in under the radar. Depending on the total cost I'll either see if I can get a refund (my guess is no) or if I can group everything together in a certain way to suffer the smallest penalty.

I am curious to know how this will effect companies like SHF and MAFEX, especially with their Disney properties that they can't outright sell in the US because of Hasbro's hold on the license. Suddenly the Maximum Series seem a better value compared to a $168 alternative, but maybe not so much against a $70-$88 figure.

At the end of the day there are bigger things to bemoan and I feel lucky to be able to have the collection I have and the ability to afford action figures at all. But considering this is all to subsidize tax breaks for the wealthy by imposing a shadow tax on all our goods, wrapped up in a patriotic scam that MAGA will gobble up blindly... it is my humble feeling that Trump and the GOP can make a beeline directly to the place they are certainly headed to according to the rules of their own garbled Christian cosmology that they pretend to believe in.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

That's my understanding. I bought something from China last month that's about to ship. I'm almost definitely going to get fucked on it. It'll double the cost of the item. I wouldn't have purchased it at all had I known.

Don't worry, his followers will still tell you you're a traitor because you don't support American manufacturing (a job no one wants to do because it's miserable) or that Biden/Harris would've done the same.

Anyone else tired of all the winning?

Hobby Genki is essentially doing the same thing, though it's not as if it's binding. If the situation doesn't improve in 6 months who knows if some of these stores just say "Screw it, either pay up or we'll cancel." And by then, the product you want may be even more out of reach.
