General Marvel Legends

Internet skews negative. I hate myself for coming onto boards (no offense) because it usually just throws cold water on enthusiasm. I guess I can't stay away - there's good convo here at least and in the early Hasbro days we needed to commiserate. I always learn something from other posters.

However, I actually think Legends are better than ever right now. And I love the look of the Iron Man 2 pack. Updated Iron Man looks beautiful, more like the artists after Granov and dig the civilian Mandarin. Maximum is an amazing line - figures like Odin, Hulkbuster, Dan Ketch, Dragon Man along with Maximum brought back my love for the line, Marvel and its characters. I'm passionate about comics, figures and art so will gladly pay more for better stuff. Others seem passionate about complaining, criticizing and being frugal. That's not as much fun to me.
Amen to that. I'm perfectly happy to critique and hear the critiques of others, but I start to tune out when the negativity becomes overwhelming. It can really sap the joy from the hobby.

The Marrina we want because she:
-Matches the rest of the existing Alpha Flight figures era of costumes
-She's just a few steps away from Hasbro making classic Namorita
-Alternate head would be amazing

The Marrina we'll get:
-Modern, because Hasbro just can't help themselves

I know this has become a trope because the examples of it are genuinely frustrating, but I feel like the list of first time classic characters is heavily skewed towards "got it right the first time", with many fewer examples of them going out of their way to pick a more obscure version first.

Yeah - as generally negative as the world has gotten, I think some people really do count on Legends to be a source of uncompromising happiness. It's just not realistic or healthy.

I agree, I've stated before and continue to think Legends are the best they've ever been. Maybe I feel strongly about that because I did collect Marvel figures in the 90s and wished for articulation as good as we have today. I started collecting the line with Classics and those first Legends 25 years ago. The early Hasbro days where you had to look at a figure and really fool yourself that it was a nice upgrade on a character you liked. That first Extremis?? Holy shit was there a ton of coping and excuses made on my part for that one. Having been a collector through all of that, contrasted with that we're getting today? Really great toys. Sure, there are things to take issue with. Not everything is going to be a slam dunk for everyone. But you can't hold up a strong modern Legends release beside something from 10-15 years ago and not realize how far we've come.

I agree that Legends and action figures in general are the best they've ever been. Hope my criticisms are constructive and my disappointments aren't too whiny and annoying. I'm going to try to be more aware of that when I post.

A little criticism and disappointment is gonna happen. I think this new Deadpool figure is technically very well done, I just wish it was a different costume for me to get more excited about.

It's more the real intense reactions from people where you can tell they're... a little more upset about an action figure than typically one might expect from a hobby meant to bring a little joy and escape. Takin it reeeeeeeeal personal. 90% of their posts are "meh pass," "Fuck greedy Hasbro," "why am I not allowed to be happy with this line"... on repeat.

So, Toronto. Time to get your party on.

I will assume 11 AM is eastern time. (I'm good like that)

Also, "Panel brought to you by Walmart". I'm not sure what that means, but it would not surprise me if whatever gets revealed is an exclusive. That sucks, I know. Best not to set your expectations too high.

I'm not trying to be a downer, just being realistic.

Ha. If the panel is brought to us by Walmart that means it's going to get cancelled last minute due to insufficient bandwidth.

Hahahaha
Yeah, "meh, pass" sounds like an intense reaction where someone is taking it reeeal personal. And, 90% of the posts from these members are effectively disgruntled complaints? Hahaha! gtfo
Btw, over in the Savage Land 3 pack thread wasn't it you who said... "Wow. Fuck Hasbro today. In 23 years of collecting this shit, today is one of the biggest let downs." That actually sounds like YOU are the one "losing it" and taking things too personal.
Look, some of us don't need another Deadpool, or Wolverine for that matter. Or, some of us just expect more from Hasbro than the phoned-in/mediocre product it seems like they occasionally sell us. Or some of us don't like their manipulative market strategies. Or, some of us get a little frustrated that they produce modern or obscure versions of characters when they absolutely know the majority of enthusiasts understandably want a particular iconic version. No one is calling for burning it all to the ground. We enjoy ML and are simply voicing our opinions and occasionally, our dissatisfaction. And that is exactly why this site exists; to articulate our thoughts.
Seems like you're one of those whine-about-whining type mfers. Get over it. No one's stopping you from squandering your money or going on and on with your Wolverine obsession.
Live and let live; it's not that difficult.

On the whole definitely where I am. ML, on average for me is falling into either "cool, but not necessary or quite my bag", "pretty good, might pick up" or "awesome, take my money". And that's about as good as any line gets. The stuff they do for budget reasons isn't bothering me overly, and overall I'm getting a couple figures every few months that I really enjoy. I'm not buying entire waves, but then I was never that guy.

Marrina reveal?
Inhumans?
Astonishing Beast?

Marrina is rumored to be in a future BAF wave, but can you imagine a Marrina/Master of the World 2-pack? That would be amazing!

Ah, I've had an empty spot on my top 10 for a while ever since maybe ROM(?) was announced and I wasn't sure who to fill that spot with.

Master of the World is now in that spot on my almost exclusively villain top 10 list.

Completely agree. This updated Extremis Iron Man looks fantastic and skyrocketed to one of my most anticipated figures of the year. Mandarin, while not my ideal, has some options. And I did love the Iron Man: Director of SHIELD—Haunted storyline with the white haired Mandarin. I’ve preordered more than one of this set already…

And yeah the other figures you mentioned were excellent. I’m loving the Gamerverse figures as well.

Maximum Deadpool looks like a ton of fun.

Speaking of Haunted, I wish they painted the chin piece on the faceplate red this time around.

Good point! I loved that red chin guard which recalled the Modular Armor helmet. It was a short-lived alternate look, but it was cool.

The Marvel Unlimited Plus membership kit should be announced soon (last year's announcement was late August I think). I'm always interested to see what the bonus figure is because it's always something off the wall and unexpected. The last few were Knight-Spider, FA Nova, retro carded FA Daredevil, and Captain Kitty Pryde.
