Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I REALLY wanted the dragon, I just couldn't swing it. I'll just hope that they have a smaller dragon planned for a more reasonable price for the future.
In the meantime, I got my BBTS black dragon and the skeleton graveyard 4 pack in the mail.

Every time I see someone photograph the skeleton pack I regret not picking it up.

Stavros the black dragon is a magnificent figure, even if he's almost all parts reuse. I do think the blue fella's my favorite of the three dragons so far, though, just based on how much his paint job pops.

I think it’s even cheaper than it was on storehorsemen thanks to that $4 shipping vs the $10 flat rate they had. Same $100 for the set so it’s only $25 a skeleton, which is a steal for their figures.
 
Anyone know when that bear mount releases? I really want that guy.

I really wanted the moose mount, but I was skeptical. Someone either in this forum or the Fwoosh said that the head joint couldn't really support the weight of those horns, and that's exactly the kind of engineering issue I was afraid of. It's also the exact kind of engineering issue that makes me slightly regret jumping in on Beyithirr.
 
They've been good about posting a calendar of upcoming releases periodically on socials, but yeah, those posted dates keep creeping back.

The engineering things were a fear of mine with the dragon, too. I actually did NOT have a problem with the moose - he's hanging out on the shelf right now with a couple of other horses and supports the weight of the horns well - but I've run into enough wonky joints, either stuck or too loose, that I get nervous with the bigger purchases from them. Less worried about the bear not supporting the weight of the parts than I am having stuck leg or neck joints I'll be afraid I'll break. The bigger the purchase from them the more worried I get. I just got a dud Headless Horseman from an eBay seller that's unfixable, but at least in that case the horse was fine and I popped the pumpkin head on a generic armored body instead (occurs to me as I'm typing this up I'm literally using that swap as my avatar pic here, so I guess I'm not THAT mad about it, but still... that more than occasional QC issue from them makes me anxious with the big green machine.)
 
I have six 4H figures now: the four graveyard skeletons, Samir, and Arrizak. That's a mixed bag when it comes to QC. Samir and Arrizak are a bitch to stand and I can't get either of their belts to stay on. The skeletons are incredibly solid but I also had one snap at the neck when I tried to replace the head. 4H did at least provide a replacement free of charge. They're sturdy yet brittle.

I want to go all-in with 4H stuff, but I am concerned about the QC.
 
Yeah, when they're good, they're my favorite figures in the world. When their QC fails, it's so enraging. Samir is one of my favorite figures and yet I ended up needing to BluTack his belt on (didn't want to glue it permanently. One of the reasons I was hoping Hasbro would go crazy with D&D figures is it would provide fantasy characters I wasn't worried about breaking when I pose them.

I think part of why I fell in love with Spero's figures is while they are far, far less elegant than Mythic Legions, if one of their catfolk falls off the shelf, I don't immediately panic at a broken 40 dollar figure.

I don't have any issues with my moose doing that fortunately.
 
It was I who had a droopy moose head (not an innuendo)

BUT - after being in storage, it fixed itself.

So what gives? I realized that the head drooped in the summer. It must have been too hot in my office, possibly. The joint in question was the ball joint that directly connects the head to the neck. The weight of the head stretched it into an oval shape from a circle. I guess when things cooled down the plastic, instead of staying warped, went back to its original shape. Weird. It holds poses just fine, now.

I was worried about this with Beyithirr, but something 4H said in one of their many podcasts or posts was that they plan on literally blowdrying the dragon to make sure it doesn't droop at all when it gets really hot, and will be putting the QC through the ringer. It made me think they may have seen this with the moose or something else, but I was reassured to hear them have this awareness. Ultimately the Beyithirr head will likely snap onto a much bigger ball, too, and be housed in the solid plastic of the head, instead of a little external cup like with the moose. I went all in. Can't wait for the bear, too, he's going into my wife's collection, and I'm jealous.

I love ML's, they are some of my favorite figures in my collection, especially because I made some of my own characters with them. If my house was on fire, most of the figs I'd try to snatch would be MLs. However, the QC does need a little TLC. 99% of my collection breaks are MLs, yet I have probably less 4H figs than any other company. I'm a gentle handler for the most part, but some were because of air bubbles in joint pegs (an issue with a few of their figs), making them essentially hollow and prone to failure. My Kraggnar foot broke because of this, and I was not able to get it replaced, sadly, so he is currently laying on his back on my shelf.

The joints are often either too tight and too loose. I don't think that can be entirely attributed to the pop and swappiness of the figs, it seems like an engineering and materials issue, like my droopy moose head. Yes, I bathe my MLs when I get them, but I've also found joints can re-lock up on them. That's what happened with Kraggnar. To a degree, I think a lot of their loyalists are Display instead of Play people, but I hope with their continued evolution, this gets troubleshooted. If anything, they should have a bunch of part replacements ordered for each wave that can be sold to people who have proof of purchase for a figure. I would have gladly paid $5 for an extra foot.
 
Yeah, I love, love this line, but almost all my QC problems are with Legions. I've also found that they are my figures most likely to have things like paint scrape off when I put a weapon in their hand (two brand new figures I trashed the thumb just sliding a sword into place). I hope, for something like the dragon where it is a make or break item and relatively small run, they go over the QC with a fine toothed comb. If it has droopy heads or legs that snap off at the joint I can't even imagine the customer service nightmare. I treat my ML with a level of careful paranoia I don't even treat my imports.
 
I currently own 3 Mythic Legion figures, but the only one I've opened up so far is Maxillius. His QC is...interesting.

Anyway, since I know nothing about the story behind these guys, and didn't feel like reading, here is my review/look at the dead version of Hans Brumbauh! The Potato Czar of the Midwest!
