General Marvel Legends

-Suited Mandarin joins Namorita, Moondragon, Daimon Hellstrom and others in the "make the real costume" list.
I'm curious, has that full list ever been written yet?

I know Namorita here is referring to the green swimsuit version, but I'd quite love if they made her armored look at some point too.

My go-to head swap for evil sorcerers is the MoM Mordo body. Already changed the skin tone on the neck and swapped the belt for a Kulan Gath kitbash, so when I want a robed Mandarin that's what I'll use.

Would Mr. Hyde and Molecule Man count? I got IBMMT heads for both, but feels like their classic looks would've been more of what folks wanted.

On the bright side, having seen that suited body the Mandarin is on, now there's a new Excalibur member to keep that team incomplete. Pete Wisdom incoming.
Daaaaang this is a fantastic call! That body is absolutely perfect - just need to figure out a head (shouldn't be hard) and some hot knives for him.

Interesting Extremis Iron Man vs Mandarin set.

Extremis Iron Man—love the yellow here as an alternate look. The new ab crunch articulation looks cool. If Hasbro was going to revisit Extremis, I’d like the pauldrons to be tweaked to be on a ring and not connected to the shoulder. And the arms could use some beefing up. Also, Tony’s unmasked head normally had a golden undersheath, not black.

Mandarin seems to be a mix of two looks. The long grey hair is from the Iron Man: Director of SHIELD story. Mandarin should have robotic hands for that look. He had lost his real hands. And the rings are implanted in his spine. This Mandarin fought Tony in his Silver Centurion suit (but Tony still had Extremis in him).

The younger black haired Mandarin in a suit is from a later arc in which Tony teamed up with Ezekiel Stane to stop Mandarin. Mandarin has a suit and his normal hands and rings back. He wore a suit through this run. But when fighting, he was shirtless.

If the itch for full classic can be satisfied with a headswap and maybe an updated/more accurate body with only mild paint/color tweaks, I'd consider it still relevant to a "wrong costume" list, but with a need to be sectioned off into a sublist. It's certainly the wrong look, but not entirely the wrong costume. High Evolutionary and Mar-Vell would also go there, for example.

I'm pretty stoked about the updated articulation on Extremis IM - I was very disappointed that the original release was missing full torso articulation and butterflies, especially since the sculpt accommodates those so well.

What's with the alt head for Mandarin with the grey hair?

It looks like it's from the Iron Man: Director of Shield - Haunted storyline, which is absolutely worth a read if you haven't already. I only read through it earlier this year (I somehow missed out on the entire Director of Shield run until recently), and I think it might be my favourite Iron Man story to date. That whole collection by the Knaufs is pretty good, and I prefer it to the earlier Extremis storyline.

The design for the Mandarin was older and, from memory, I think he was mostly shirtless? Potentially to show off the unusual alternative way that he decided to wear the rings.

This two pack looks like to be a weird mix between Haunted (with the Extremis armor and older Manadarin head) and the later Fraction/Larroca Demon storyline, which had a younger looking Manadarin in a suit, but also had Tony in the Bleeding Edge armor. Thinking about it, it's kind of odd that they didn't use it as an excuse for an updated Bleeding Edge, but maybe that's what the Maximum will end up being?

Also, as noted above, it's super odd that they didn't use artwork of the Extremis armor on the box again.

Unrelated to new exciting news but I love this new Omega Red. He's immediately one of my favorite MLs ever. So good. The new shoulder pads look tacti-cool, and the new head is so expressive that he can look menacing, or shocked when he's getting a beat-down. One of the best ML head sculpts for sure.

Those ringless claw hands on Mandarin are new sculpts, yes?
Why would you sculpt such obviously not-Mandarin hands for the Mandarin specifically, especially since without the rings the claw-hands play even MORE into yellow-peril stereotypes.
I dunno, man. I guess I hope those were sculpted for an upcoming Dracula (they literally look just like how Colan drew Dracula’s hands) or something. Because as just-for-Mandarin hands, they are weird as hell.

I wonder if they are part of a shared mold that's being used for more than one thing. Like how every time we get pistols, we get one with an extended mag and one with a normal mag and then that one AR-ish gun (see Crossbones). That's likely because they are in the same mold so if you do one, you get the others.

Don't know what else they'd share in this package though. It's a weird one.
