G.I. Joe Classified 2025 Top Ten Poll

I think the instinct is to go later years or never been dones when you're thinking of low percentage chance figures, but I'm going to throw out Battle Force 2000. Some folks saw them as a joke. Others think the name disqualifies them, but future warriors blew my damn mind as a 10 year old.

What is the ONE figure you really want to see in Classified that you see as having a low potential for getting made? And you would really like Hasbro to be aware of how important they are to you.
Here's the thing; how does one even go about formulating an answer to that? Besides stuff that outright might not/doesn't qualify as actual G.I. Joe product (Joe versions of the Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter characters, for insance), what has the Joe team done so far to imply anything is off the table? Look at how much love they put into Big Boa and Croc Master. But okay - they're weird. What about saying maybe 'boring' characters could be off-limits? But like, they're doing greenshirts and the communications guys, so obviously not that either. What do we actually think the Joe team is less likely to make?

Here's my shot at it. It's not a figure I want -badly-, but it's a figure I would like Hasbro to make, and I would absolutely buy, but maybe has less of a chance; G.I. Joe. For those that don't remember, he was a mail-away figure from the very end of the line. Just the most basic-looking 'soldier-man' action figure ever, with a beret and a stupidly big gun. I don't know why I liked him so much, as 'generic military guy' was like.. THE thing in Joe that I -didn't- like as a kid. But I loved this guy. I remember watching and re-watching Rambo movies as a kid and this guy was kind of my version of Trautman.

Besides that... I dunno. ARAH went from '82 to '94. That -alone- creates so many potential figures for them to do that when you add in Extreme (which absolutely deserves to be in Classified) and other iterations, and new stuff, it feels almost impossible they'll get to everything. If I sat down and really went over a checklist, I could probably pick out some weirdo character or silly repaint of an existing character that maybe they're far less likely to ever get to.
Like, my favorite version of Sci-Fi is v2. By a WIDE FUCKIN' MARGIN. Like, v1 Sci-Fi is a dumb clown asshole compared to v2. But is Sci-Fi popular enough to warrant the Joe team getting to that v2 look instead of doing either a new character or another version of CC or Snake Eyes? I dunno. I hope so.

Yeah, that's a totally fair question. I guess you have to define it you own way, which you ultimately did. I'm just hoping to get some kinda list of figures together that are things we really do want but aren't almost-definitely-happening, like Spearhead & Max.
What about saying maybe 'boring' characters could be off-limits? But like, they're doing greenshirts and the communications guys, so obviously not that either. What do we actually think the Joe team is less likely to make?
I think 'boring' characters like scientists (Dr. Venom, or even Dr. Lucifer from the cartoon... whose name I like to believe IS actually Lucifer. Jacob Lucifer, PhD) who are just guys with lab coats and maybe some lab equipment but no monocle or bare chest may be not quite as likely as green shirts and communications guys. BUT... at this point, I'm really not sure what's off the table for this team.

I think that's perfect. It's wonderfully personal, something I never knew even existed, and clearly ties in with the genesis of the line.

I guess in my mind it's stuff like that, or the Devil's Due and IDW comics. The not-mainstream Joe stuff that can still be really great in the Classified line.

it feels almost impossible they'll get to everything.
Definitely agree, though the line seems to pick up more speed each year. Of course, I know it will likely collapse eventually.
If I sat down and really went over a checklist, I could probably pick out some weirdo character or silly repaint of an existing character that maybe they're far less likely to ever get to.
Yeah, and that might be cool, but I think you came up with a really solid choice. And off the top of your head is probably the best way to go about this.
Like, my favorite version of Sci-Fi is v2. By a WIDE FUCKIN' MARGIN. Like, v1 Sci-Fi is a dumb clown asshole compared to v2.
I wouldn't go that far, but I definitely liked his V2 look more as well.

I don't know either... but I'd say pretty likely if all it means is kitbashing the right parts and simply doing a new helmet, vest, and weapons.

Spearhead & Max.
See, I don't really think there's any less chance of Spearhead & Max happening as any other unique character. In fact, I'd argue that if they want to keep the 'character and pet' sku going (and I'm sure they do since they seem to like it and it's doing well for them), then he's a logical next figure after Desert Scorpion.

Yeah, see - I also find it tempting to name those types of characters (but not for my own list because I don't really care about them). BUT, those types of characters also feel like shoe-ins at some point because a suited body seems like it'll have enough re-use potential that they'll want to make it and then use it as much as they can. And some of those characters seem perfect for boxed sets or what-have-you.

Isn't Helix from IDW? And a video game, I think. Really, Helix is probably the kind of character that if she weren't already out, and I actually cared about her (I don't), would be perfect for a list like this because she's exactly the kind of character I would never expect them to be in any rush to make. It throws off my radar for what they might or might not do.

Speaking of Extreme; I don't think it gets a fair shake because it felt like such a departure from Joe in most ways. The story was totally new and different, the characters were totally new and different, and the toys were the first time Joe stepped away from O-ring stuff as the main line since '82. But the -designs- for the characters, I feel, mostly fit right in with ARAH Joe and I think they'd mostly look great in Classified.
Black Dragon would definitely be the questionable one because of his SO FUCKING '90S weird topless head-sleeve that was obviously cribbed from the likes of Cyclops and Gambit. But give him an alternate head and you've basically fixed the entire character design.

I don't think there's a lot of parts in the library that are quite right for v2 Sci-Fi, and I think I'd rather they not do him at all than just throw some black-and-grey paint with a bit of yellow onto a random body.

I know my wording was awkward, I meant Spearhead and Max as an example of almost definitely happening.

Yeah I get that reasoning. And really, they could do a cartoon Dr. Lucifer with the alternate Venom head. Ta da.

I can't remember, and we just covered this in the main thread last week or so heh. But you're right, THAT kind of character. I expect Dawn Moreno to be named as well, but if all the post Marvel comic characters, she has to be the most likely.

Hell yeah, I'm not even familiar with them but definitely bring them into Classified.

Which seems like something they'd do.

You may be right but I'm really surprised by how they reuse parts for characters I would never have thought of.

They do, but I also feel like if you get to the point of being kind of an ARAH-purist, a lot of it isn't quite right. It's that 'good enough' level of accuracy where we just accept that these are new interpretations and it doesn't do any good to complain that it doesn't exactly match the vintage figure even if that's what you'd like for it to be.

If you haven't seen them - definitely go check them out. Extreme didn't have a long life and therefore did not have a big line-up of figures, but most of them look pretty cool and if you can imagine them as O-ring figures, most/all of them fit right in with ARAH. I'd love to have an Extreme Metalhead figure.

Dawn is exactly the kind of figure that I'd put on the 'will almost certainly happen' list. No way there isn't some directive from above to try to get some of the newer characters into the line where possible, and no way they're also not looking at potential for more female characters since the brand overall tends to be lacking there. I'd say Dawn is more likely than anything from Extreme, by a large margin.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get Dawn before Snake Eyes V3.
Me either, actually. Especially if I'm right that V3 is on a backburner because it's too complicated to make it look good and function well.

Damnit Norm! He was announced already!
Jeez, was he? I clearly can't keep up. I don't think there are any figures I WANT that they won't make at this point. Finishing off '85-87 is pretty much all I need. Everything else beyond that (besides Spearhead and Max) is gravy.

I'm so fucking stoked for Night Viper. They're toying with my emotions by leaving it this long without actually showing him off.
