Jada Street Fighter

Vega's the only one who is outright a mess from it, but it's been fairly present. Here's a handful of thingss I've noticed:
  • M. Bison's armor is his armor design from SFV
  • Chun-Li's hair is her more round "tuft" from SFV, rather than the five "spikes"
  • Chun-Li's boots being much longer is indicative of SFV as well, with them being almost up to the knees rather than mid-calf
  • Vega's bulk, as well as mirrored arms, from SFV's classic costume
It's one of many reasons why I'm happy we're onto Alpha 3 with both "main" companies. I desperately need an accurate Vega in Arena.
Chun-Li's bracelets are based SFV as well, having 6 spikes instead of 8 like they do in the artwork for SFII

From what I understand, a lot of that is a Capcom directive.

Let us also not forget the ever present in modern SF lines--Ryu's red gloves and dark brown hair.

It 100% is Capcom Directive.

I'm not counting the red gloves and dark brown hair. His hair was always brown in SF2, and the brown gloves were only ever in sprites and a very select handful of artworks, with all art that was used for promotions, eyecatches, etc featuring the red gloves.. The black hair is a Street Fighter 3 thing. If we wanna talk a real Ryu inaccuracy for 2's artwork, his pants legs should not at ALL be torn at the bottom.

It does seem like the references for this line are all over the place. Vega in-game looks very lithe; the way he pushes his shoulders forwards helps, but just in general he's thin.

On the flip side, Nishimura's art showed him with a wide chest and wide shoulders:

As well as Bengus:

And this isn't to convince you it's correct or anything but maybe it can help with appreciating the figure more. I'm expecting the Alpha 3 versions to be less wide. Skinny body with huge arms, ripped, unreal articulation, that's what I need!

Dug around for a standing up straight reference for SF2 and a shot from Toymigos' review, and had Photoshop open doing my work. So I got a little... carried away. I feel with the upper body scaled down a bit, the arms and legs slimmed just a tad, and lengthening to the thighs, this figure would look way more on model.

Am I splitting hairs? ...Maybe.

Great comparison. I felt like Guile's legs could be longer, too, but seeing it like this really puts it in perspective.

Mr. Negativity thinks Vega is Jada's best release to date.

If I had to distill my grievances, the art styles and design proportions are forgivable.

I just wish he had the toe joint.

My personal Best release would be Cammy or Fei Long for playability and posing.

Guile or Cammy for Ripped From my TV.

I have four Chun Lis (3 2.0, 1 pink) and I keep one and a Cammy on my desk as a daily fidget driver with Maximum and Mafex Spideys, so those are my favourite.

Ken and Ryu might be the weakest for me. Something in the head sculpts, even the Ryu 2.0. I can, however, get them to hadouken without a rubber band, which I've seen complaints about elsewhere.

On Monday FedEx delivered Storm Ken and Jada Vega across the street, which I was able to quickly run over and grab. I still wanted to be a dick, so I put in a complaint over a missing package. I wasn't trying to scam, I just wanted to see how it would play out.

Tonight I get this automated message:
"After exhausting search options, we are not able to retrieve your package. We apologize, but if you still cannot locate the package, please contact your shipper for additional options.
We are closing this support ticket."

First off, I think it's shitty they didn't at least send a message that appeared to be from an actual person. Second, how is this the shipper's fault? The driver took a photo of the package at the wrong house!

Never dealt with FedEx or UPS, but yes, a Google search says FedEx expects the shipper to initiate. I received a check from USPS as a recipient ages ago and multiple times in recent years as a sender of eBay packages.

Anthony was "smitten" by Vega. I was surprised he said that because I had a feeling he was turning into a Jada contrarian in favor of Storm. Personally, I've never been a big fan of Vega and I can't say I've ever been smitten by an action figure. Closest might be ANH Hot Toys Leia (it's been years, could use a new one).

Maybe it’s because I was expecting the worst after hearing everyone dog the figure so hard the past couple days, but Vega got here today and I quite like him.

That hook for the sash is a real bizarre choice, but easily hidden with a little manipulation of the sash (probably easily removed too) and his overall proportions aren’t an issue for me. I love how fluid he moves. Some of those early Jada figures had some real right joints that needed greased up, but I’ve had a good time playing around with him on my coffee table.

For anyone who got the WSDCC figures... are the boxes REALLY four pounds each? My two packages seem to have started moving again (finally - got hung up several times) and I feel like eight pounds of street fighter is a lot for two figures, just wondering what's showing up.

IMO he mostly needs longer limbs and the rest would kind of even out. Though he might end up a tad too tall
