Snow C.A.T. Live!

First, I think you're kinda crazy to think a winter Flint wouldn't be released, especially since winter Lady Jaye is certain to unlock. They're not going to leave that fruit dangling. They'll release him. Granted the line is scheduled 18-24 months in advance, so it may take some time to get him out. Also, Flint's upper torso jacket sculpt was likely going to be used for other characters. They'll make the mold and use it several times.

Who knows what kind of lessons if any will be learned by Hasbro. Who even knows what kind of lessons they should learn, other than maybe do some more advertising for their next Hasbro campaign and reveal some tie-in products, ie more snow-based figures (Snow Job reissue, Polar Battle Bear reveal) which would help sell the Snow Cat. Otherwise, what lessons are there? Certainly, snow-based items (and other environmentally themed) probably don't sell as well as general weather ones. I don't think they needed to learn this from a Haslab. Maybe the next Haslab has a lower price. Maybe they just switch to made-to-order items, like the Marvel Legends has done. Steering away from more arctic themed stuff isn't that radical of a shift for the line, since there's not really that huge well of characters or vehicles to pull from. Just not sure what will be learned. But this Haslab will meet its base amount. And at least 1 tier, maybe even 2. Does every Haslab need to meet all tiers to be considered a success?
Most Haslabs advertise the figures as exclusive to the Haslab, never to be released again. The Cantina Haslab had to clarify that that tiers were on exclusive cards, but the figures could be released on alternate cards later. Thus giving people hope on the Wolfman that didn’t unlock. The Tonnika sisters and Wuher were specified as exclusive figures to the Haslab.

I think Flint and Jaye were advertised as exclusive to this Haslab. So if Flint doesn’t unlock we probably won’t see this exact Flint later but some version could be possible.

We don't have any data to be sure either way. It hasn't happened in any HasLab yet, as far as I'm aware.
I can say there are people at companies like Mattel and Hasbro that obsess over things like the dangling carrot. For it to be effective, you cannot give them the carrot if they don't run on the treadmill, as it were. There are absolutely people at both companies that WILL advocate for not releasing things that didn't unlock, if for no other reason than to use it as a threat next time ("remember what happened last time - if you don't unlock all tiers, then you won't get this or that item"). This isn't my guess. This is 100% fact.
That doesn't mean those people will win the argument. But they exist and their voices have the weight of titles and large paychecks behind them.

I think the lessons have been all over this thread lots already. Success or failure, just the tempo of this campaign should be teaching them all the things many of us have already talked about; synergy, not overloading HasLabs all at the same time, not burying your HasLab with other shit on your website, etc etc. There's been lots.
The issue with 'lessons learned' in the corporate world is they're usually the wrong lessons. And that is specifically what I'm talking about here. If a new Baroness underperforms at retail, it would never be because they made a sub-par action figure, and always be because 'it's a girl figure and we should make less girl figures because boy Classified collectors don't actually want them even if they bitch online about not getting enough female characters.'
If a SnowCat does badly, it will always be because 'we shouldn't make winter-themed stuff' or 'no one wants half-track vehicles' or some other nonsense. It would never be because -they did something poorly- which led to poor performance. That's what I mean by learning the wrong lessons. And it's INSANELY common in toy companies. I have it on very good authority that Mattel learned -tons- of the wrong lessons from various issues around and during MOTUC. The Star Sisters, for example, behind held up as proof that people don't want POP figures in MOTUC. That's a true thing that was said out loud by someone important (to my understanding - I wasn't there).

Edit: I also wanted to point out the distinct possibility that if we get close enough and have good enough momentum going toward Flint -- Hasbro may very well artificially increase the funding numbers to push us over the final line JUST to be able to call this yet another full success and not come up, you know, 2-300 backers shy of hitting all tiers (and risk people starting to drop off in the last hour or so if Flint isn't funded yet). It's a perfect face-saving move, as it makes them look like, actually, they did everything right and this thing hit every tier exactly as they expected it to, of course. And a few hundred fewer units sold actually means nothing to Hasbro in the grand scheme of things, so it really doesn't matter if they fudge the numbers a bit. The reality is that they're never going to make the exact number that gets backed any way.
And, bonus, this type of crowdfunding has no third party auditor and fuckin' ZERO transparency, so we'd never know if the numbers are fake anyway.

Double-edit: 25 backers to Jaye.

I wonder if this under performs in their eyes and the Star Wars on fails to fund if they will start to spread these things out more or stop doing HasLabs all together and shift to just the make to order like with Marvel. @Damien I think you are absolutely right that they keep taking the wrong “lessons learned” on these things.

And we are over 10,000! Jaye is unlocked!

I think that's just a given with most companies in general. People at high levels, decision-makers, are usually kind of fucking dumb. Sometimes they're the dumbest people you've ever been in a room with. Honestly.

Also.. guys.... you guys...

I am officially a backer. My first HasLab, in fact.

I got off the fence and I, personally, unlocked Lady Jaye. Now I just need like four thousand of you guys to also go back. But technically there's a five-per limit, so I really only need 800 of you to back, but you need to buy 5 each. Be dears and get on that, please.

Ha! I am going to have enough explaining to do when one giant box arrives. I cannot imagine trying to explain 5 giant boxes. Also I wonder what would be harder to explain if all 5 arrive at once or if they are spaced out a week or so in between. If they all arrived at once you could make one heck of a box fort.

See, you want them to stagger. Because when the first one arrives you can loudly exclaim 'ah yes, my singular SnowCat G.I. Joe Classified HasLab vehicle has arrived, which I ordered with legal tender because I wanted to own this, a singular SnowCat G.I. Joe Classified HasLab vehicle.'

Then when the next one shows up you can be all like 'what's this, then? ANOTHER SnowCat G.I. Joe Classified HasLab vehicle at my doorstep? Egads, I say, this is a confusion upon my brain which I will surely be troubled by! Research into this inquiry will be duly carried out!'

Then the third one shows up and you're all "Verily, but I have yet to uncover the secrets of the previous extra SnowCat G.I. Joe Classified HasLab vehicle that came upon my doorstep, and Lo! another has come unbidden! Surely a jest at my expense, and greatly too. We shall find the culprit of this calamity and give him a thrashing. Away to my private chambers I shall go, to seek for answers to this mystery of excessive SnowCat G.I. Joe Classified Haslab vehicles!'

And so on. I believe in you. You can make this so confusing that no one would ever dare question what's happening.

I think in the final day you all might get your standing tent unlock, there's a good chance of it in the final push. Arctic Flint isn't what I would consider likely, but the outcry for not getting him will likely prompt Hasbro to single release him anyway in a year or two, so I wouldn't worry too much if he doesn't come packed in. You just might not get all of the homemaking equipment that comes with him.

I think we will hit 10,500 tonight. That just leaves 3,500 tomorrow. I think we will have a bigger rush of last day backers on this one because the tiers are unlocking so late in the campaign.

Always knew I'd be a last 24 hour backer, but I just watched and refreshed the count a few times and it climbed by like, 22? just as was watching. I don't know if we'll get to 14,000 but I'm not unhopeful for the bivouac and that's encouraging me to bite.

I am, for PURELY psychological reasons, going to wait til tomorrow morning then do it. Honestly it jumped by 17 since my last post so I'm feeling better about it overall.

I'm going to back. I'm just trying to decide if I want to bite the bullet and pay the whole thing or split it in 4 interest free payments with Affirm.

My Rattler is scheduled for delivery, how ironic getting it just as this campaign is coming to an end. If I hadn’t already backed that would probably push me over the edge haha.

Really curious if the backwards trend continues tomorrow or if we’re past that now?
