McFarlane DC Multiverse

Except Todd has literally gone on record about female figures and why he’s decided he’s not making many.
All companies skimp on female figures, Todd makes it part of his brand to do so.

Agreeing that the Essentials Harley is a pretty darn good stand-in - that's a really decent figure. My only complaint about essentials is they could be a bit brittle/breakable. (As much as I complain about McF, his figures are BRICKS.)

It really is odd though that Harley is, like Deadpool, a license to print money and he's been so avoidant of her.

And yeah, he really would've benefited from keeping his trap shut about it. The Legends team's "we don't comment on specific characters" is sometimes frustratingly coy, but it keeps them out of trouble. "Chicks don't sell at Target" when so many most-wanted lists are all women characters is just tone deaf and silly. (Sillier still when figures like classic WW and PG evaporated online in seconds when they went up for sale.)

Super quick sell-out for the Pattison Batmobile on Amazon. Will not miss the artificial scarcity McFarlane does.
Wow, I didn't even know Amazon was going to have it. I thought that it was a McFarlane Toy Store exclusive. I used the MTS10 10% coupon on MTS but that didn't fully offset the shipping cost ($8 for the coupon vs just under $11.96 for shipping). It's still available there if anyone wants it. I have no idea if it will sell out or stick around for awhile. All bets are off these days.

Walked into Gamestop during lunch break and lo and behold Platinum No Man's Land Batman greeted me and it is also payday so instant purchase. Now to hit other Gamestops looking for the regular edition. First time in a long time where I wanted the Platinum Variant too. Using my $5 reward and $1 in points and got him for $22 and change. I was at first disappointed when they stopped sculpting the chest symbols but you know what? I think I like it better now since I'm old and it feels old school. Lol. Though I miss the wired cape.

50 female characters of 300 DCUC figures isn't a great ratio-- Legends does much better, I'm sure-- but it could be much worse, and currently is: McF releases one female for every 20-25 male characters. Look at any visual checklist and do a quick count and you can see that. That's brutal. We are going to be lucky to get 15 more unique females before the line wraps up.

It also doesn't help that McFarlane doesn't do many of the core female characters in their more popular looks. We had all sorts of weird Wonder Woman variants before we got a classic (and that one sold out in seconds). He's just now getting around to her modern look....and she's packed in with a Godzilla statue. No Black Canary, Zatanna is just now being revealed, and we're just now getting Hawkgirl.

DCUC may not have had many female figures either, but at least we got Wonder Woman in an early wave with her classic look. Core characters like Supergirl, Batgirl, Black Canary, Zatanna, Power Girl, Hawkgirl, etc. got released in a fairly timely manner. As it is, I seriously doubt we'll see a classic Harley Quinn, or any iteration of Black Canary, before Todd loses the license.

Getting three Green Arrows and no Black Canaries when he loves a good reprint and could sell a lot of us on an Ollie and Dinah two-pack feels crazy to me.

Not only that... but Mattel didn't deliberately skip female members of teams.... DCUC has Black Canary, Vixen, Big Barda and Zatanna to flesh out that JLA display. I got Elasti-Girl for my Doom Patrol, I got Platinum for my Metal Men I got Cheetah and Giganta for my Legion of Doom.

My one big disappointment from that line in terms of female figures was the Legion set. 12 pack of figures and only one lady. Sure there are a couple of important dudes missing as well (Mon El, Tyroc) but the list of female members stil needed is SO long.

I'm still a lil salty over no Ratcatcher II but three Peacemakers and two Bloodsports/King Sharks. I'm over it now since the movie wasn't that important overall but at the time skipping what was basically the heart of the movie was mind boggling to me.

So it's funny, I came into the thread to compliment McFarlane fro keeping the prices on these batmobiles pretty low only to see the new one sold out super fast so I guesss there's a tradeoff there, huh.

I remember Poison Ivy was somewhere on one of the leak lists, but we're seeing classic Scarecrow and Hush Riddler and she was "leaked" quite a while ago. The Batman & Robin Ivy was a quick sellout and I'm sure Michelle Pfeifer Catwoman will be similar, so I assume comic-based Ivy should be coming at some point. McFarlane's only got about 10-or-so months left with the license to make it happen.

I didn't do much in DCU but I think this is the one figure I still have. I shouldn't have sold off my DCD Terry Dodson Diana, she was beautiful.
