Jada Street Fighter

So both of the SDCC figures were supposed to arrive on Thursday, stopped in Illinois, and just sat there for a few days, no movement, nothing. One is still sitting there but apparently the other is now in Indiana but "scheduled for delivery: Today"

For a brief time, the Fedex app was working really well for me, but the past week or two it's become a disaster.

Yes, had three things that were supposed to be delivered by FedEx Saturday. They were all rescheduled for today. One arrived, the other two were moved to tomorrow.

You're doing better than me.

3 Jada items and a set of AEW figures from from Ringside Collectibles and 1 thing from Chewy.

...the Chewy item arrived.

Am I crazy in finding that it was only a few weeks back the app was way more accurate? I had a string of ridiculous preorders all ship at the same time, two kickstarters, some Chewy stuff for the pets, like a dumb number of things and they all got here when the app predicted, and then the past week or two it's just gone to seed.

Vega is the first in the line that has me... More critical than the others.

If you've played the game or at least look up the Sprite art for his key poses, toe articulation was a must here. And I don't even care about it usually. But it's just such an iconic part of his springy stature and silhouette.

What is the hook for on the waist? Just to keep the belt there? Seems firmly tied on mine. Also out of the box that's technically on the wrong side but you can spin it around, then the hook is there. It can't be for the mask because it's facing down and doesn't hold anything.

I don't know about the soft hair. It was all right on Blanka. I'm glad that they didn't do it for Cammy, because here on the unmasked head the braid is hollow inside, which is frustrating because it doesn't have to be. Even the masked head has a little bit more flow to it than the rest of the characters with their neutral hair. At least that poseable braid is a solid piece, if squishy.

Suppose my question with the squishy hair is is it going to hold up? But we could go back to Storm as a studio and look at their torsos and both lines have soft rubber clothes. Maybe it's nothing.

I've also never really gotten on board with the whole soft sculpt criticism of the line, but there's something about Vega where I could get on board. Compared to Sagat, he seems more plasticky and less textured or rendered. His chest seems broader than it should be, like it's referencing the movie, but it prevents a couple of the key poses he could do if you work off the sprites.

Vega was always one of my mains, and I enjoy the figure, but if I recall, this is the one that took a little bit longer to cook. Maybe they were also having doubts or iteration compromises.

Vega is the only fail in the line for me. Thus far.

Too broad, too short, just lacking all around. I really hope Storm puts him in their Arena line.

Glad I'm not alone with the broad part.

I just watched the animated movie the other night, and I remember when the line was brand news some people said it totally like they were amalgamating everything. This is the first one I would point to for that design theory.

Don't have Vega in hand yet, but those criticisms sound valid and I agree that I hope he makes an appearance in the Arena line.
I don't dislike it, it's just surprising coming from Cammy and Sagat and Fei Long Deluxe. Those were bar raisers for me.

Let's see if Storm and Jada can do this iron sharpens iron thing.

The soft sculpt thing for me is like, for some reason they photograph as having a softer sculpt in general than they seem in hand.

Absolutely. And just going off social, a lot of insta and YouTube guys don't have great lighting or color correction to begin with, so I always put my faith in hand.

For Vega, I think his skin tone contributes to the softness. It's not... Wrong. He's supposed to be "delicate" looking. It just looks softest of all.

I wonder if we get a release at some point with a licking head to do the claw lick from the movie.

I think my Vega should arrive tomorrow (but fedex so… lol maybe not).

I’m hoping I like him a lot in hand.

It’s crazy how much street fighter fans are eating for action figures nowadays.

He looks awesome in the lineup, which is what counts.

Can't believe I'm 3/4 of the bosses already without even thinking about it.

Vega's the only one who is outright a mess from it, but it's been fairly present. Here's a handful of thingss I've noticed:
  • M. Bison's armor is his armor design from SFV
  • Chun-Li's hair is her more round "tuft" from SFV, rather than the five "spikes"
  • Chun-Li's boots being much longer is indicative of SFV as well, with them being almost up to the knees rather than mid-calf
  • Vega's bulk, as well as mirrored arms, from SFV's classic costume
It's one of many reasons why I'm happy we're onto Alpha 3 with both "main" companies. I desperately need an accurate Vega in Arena.
