G.I. Joe Classified Series

The mention of someone telling Lenny that they should make more animals got me to thinking about ways they could get those out and I decided they need to do a series of "Adventure Packs".

For example, here's one I thought of for an "Amazon River Excursion"

It would come with:

Inflatable raft (not actually inflatable, but you know what I mean).
Some random jungle camping gear like a little tent, canteen, small cook stove
A jaguar (the star of the set!)
A bendy wire anaconda that can wrap around your Joes.
Maybe a couple of slug-type animal figures like some macaws or a small monkey

If they thought that wouldn't be a big enough draw they could throw in a repaint of a popular character that hasn't been released in a while but I think enough people would buy it for a well-painted and articulated jaguar and huge bendy anaconda that they don't even need a figure.

The possibilities are vast on this one. They could do an "African Savannah" set with an elephant, rhino, or hippo and some random gear. It all depends on what they think the upper limit of what we'd pay would be. Obviously an elephant would be huge but who here would say no to a Classified elephant?

And they could do like sci-fi packs with cyborg animals and stuff too in order to get more use out of the molds. More D.I.R.E. tech critters. Really, there's just so much they could get away with.

Honestly they should expand on their anniversary program.

In the early 70's the Adventure team packs featured jungle set w/ pygmy gorilla, diver set with dolphin, diver set with octopus, sled and sled dogs, jungle hunt set with white tiger, desert patrol with crocodile.

Do some Adventure Team 2-packs like that in Classics.

I know Big Jim also did some sets with animals like - gorilla, rhino, tiger and eagle that could provide inspiration as well.

Not much to talk about so far with SDCC Joes, this thread is now officially about our childhood sexual awakenings.

Totally unrelated but we need muscle girls in this line.
100% And there's a few more out there to choose from, and even some runs that genderswap some of the characters!

God I hope i can get that Pythona, she was my number 1 want for a long time, especially after they made Nemesis Enforcer.

There were a few unproduced Sigma Six animals. I think the diver figure was Wet Suit with shark and cage, Dusty was paired with a large scorpion, and another figure (Joe Colton?) came with a gorilla.

I'm usually in for the weird stuff in this line. Not a huge fan of the military looks, but the Ninjas and the cool tech/spy/assassin type figures i absolutely love getting. Also thinking about getting some of the more outlandish guys like Darklon and Crystal Ball. I would legit just have him as Kthulu on my shelves lol. One thing I was surprised with, is how fricken good the animals actually are. I am debating on getting a couple of the sets just for the animals. I want one of each Timber, for different reasons, and the birds that come with Iron Knife look really cool. I see the other ones too and they all look really well done. One thing I loved about the failed ass Hasbro DnD line was the monsters. I got the Displacer beast, and both Owl Bears. And they are just fantastic. And that's when they were half assing it. I am very tempted to grab some of these animals to give to some of my other lines.

Just opened my Cold Slither set. Congrats to the crew making the scaled drum kit as frustrating to set up as a real one! Seriously though, this set brings me so much joy. Bravo.
I was JUST reminiscing about my days as a trashy useless frontman in a bunch of trashy bands in my twenties and how the drummer in my longest running band would just tell me to GO AWAY if I helped him set up his kit. "Don't even touch the tambourine, you are useless dude"

Agree on the D&D stuff - I feel like that was their testing ground and they really did a great job even with their sloppy work on D&D, and then they just went nuts making the best affordable articulated animals on the market with Joes. (And Zabu/Cosmo over in Marvel Legends are nearly as good at the Joes animals too!). The owlbear is a little cartoony by comparison but still really well articulated, and the displacer beast and Drizz'ts panther just kinda live in my office always on display somewhere. I wish they weren't so shiny/purple but the engineering on them are almost as good as Timber/Junkyard/Fiona etc. I just got the McFarlane Krypto and it's like... man, such a letdown to get a statuette when Hasbro is crushing it with their animal companions.

(I remain ever hopeful we get an articulated Max with Spearhead in 2026)

I saw the McFarlane Supes with Krypto and got briefly excited to buy it until I noticed Krypto was just a figurine. I can't imagine why companies are still releasing animal figurines when Hasbro has gone and set the bar so high.
