SDCC Exclusive Savage Land 3 pack (Rogue, Sauron, Shanna)

I think Hasbro has to address this somehow. Some sort of re-issue might stem the very prevalent negativity.
 
I’m surprised at how long Cold Slither stuck around. Every other Classified exclusive seemed like one of the first things gone and it seemed like it was only up for a fraction of a second this morning and whenever that first window was.
 
All they have to do is announce some MTO and when the purchase window will be. Like with past SDCC. Why is Hasbro just handing that $ to the scalpers? It’s their money. Go get it.
 
Has any other convention exclusive been Made to Order? Someone mentioned the Hellfire set, but I can't remember what happened with that one.

The X-Factor set was a clusterfuck, if I recall. They cancelled all the Disney Store orders and sold out immediately on Pulse... never fixed that one.
 
I pretty much saw this coming the minute it was announced that Shanna would be part of a SDCC Exclusive three pack. This is the state of our hobby in general circa 2025. They might as well sell the damn things through Ticketmaster.
 
Also, didn't Pulse have the stupid "verify you are a human" bullshit a month or so ago? It was awful so I'm glad it's gone - but I can't even log on to Gamestop.com anymore because it always blocks me. ANOTHER reason they suck.
 
Curious if there's a site in the world that does timed drops with huge ecommerce spikes well. Amazon is robust, but they don't have reliable release times seems like. Anyone else? How do the sneaker drops go?
 
There is hope then - because from a PR standpoint, this sale was a disaster.
 
My premium membership suddenly expired. And the Pulse app crashed. I wasn’t that enthused for these exclusives, but it’s frustrating for the whole app to fail like that. I did get Man-Wolf at least.

Finally opened my Shanna/Rogue/Sauron set.

Shanna’s probably the most clothed the character’s ever been. She’s a far more functional figure than the last one in terms of articulation and the sculpt’s way leaner. Most of her parts are the Shriek body but she got new boots and a new upper torso that accommodates the shirt overlay. I’m not sure I like the face sculpt all that much; it’s sorta narrow and plain. She came with Kraven’s rifle and Ka-Zar’s spear too. It’s a good update, but it’s going for a very reined-in vanilla look for the character.

Rogue’s face looks good from some angles, but from most of them she just looks kind of drunk. Her jawline is really really round too. The rest of the figure’s fine. Hair sculpt’s one of the better one’s for Rogue, the body’s the same as Shanna’s but with some different overlays. They share the same skirt piece. Kind of a missed opportunity to have a new head sculpt that would really be a perfect Jim Lee Rogue though.

Sauron was a good figure the first time. This time his eyes have tiny spirals in them to mimic his hypnotic gaze. The power effect hardly has anything to clip onto, but it can slide on just enough to stay. I thought he was going to be sort of a stow-immediately part of the set but I like that he got a new loincloth that doesn’t have random pouches like the original. The highlight oversprays on his body are now also on his limbs and and look way better. Plus this time he has a bendy tail the original lacked. They reworked his legs too so they’re pinless and don’t have a ball joint in the hips. It’s a lot more streamlined.

Overall it’s a good set but I think Sauron pulled a surprise whammy and weirdly ended up being the best figure in the box.

As a huge GI Joe fan who can recall very specifically the Cold Slither episode, it stings a bit to pass on that one. I just gotta tell myself it's OK to not have toy representation of every single thing from my childhood memory. I got a lot of cool stuff already.

You also might be able to pick one up later after all of the hysteria has died down. That’s what I’m thinking with Shanna. People are upset and just trying to scratch that itch. The last couple of Savage land sets that have gone up on eBay are listed at stupid money.
 
Some years the SDCC exclusives sold out fast and you were just fucked. I remember that retro carded Hulk being that way in 2020; it was only on Pulse for seconds and that was the only chance we ever got. The Hellfire Club set sold out EXTREMELY fast. They did do a second listing days or I think it was weeks later, but that one sold out fairly fast too.

So we never can know when we're just screwed. The past few years have been great so hopefully there are plenty and this was just a web site screw-up, but we won't know that for a while. Was hoping Dan would comment on it, but nope, and usually that means he's not sure what's going to happen either.
