General Marvel Legends

There was a time when video games did become cheaper to manufacture, mostly in switching from cartridge to CD, and we saw prices actually go down. It has been crazy to see how little they've gone up since relative to the rest of the world because by now development costs for the big games are so high that they must need to charge more. And things like Gamepass must really eat at the profits of each play, but it's like music streaming and just a thing you have to do now if you want people to play your games.

At least there has been a marked increase in playtime/replay-ability in modern gaming. A $100 CDN game will usually give me at least 35-40 hours of value, which I think is great. Even free-to-play games are tremendous value if you refrain from pissing money away on vanity items.

If I think back to when I was kid (70's/80's) most of my friends didn't have a lot of action figures then either. Its not like every kid had 50 Star Wars figures or Micronauts or Mego Superheroes - even then the big thing was the new Atari 2600. Same with those who read comics, that wasn't a big thing with my friends. That is anecdotal to me, but I think there might be a bit of confirmation bias for those of us who liked comics and sci-fi TV and movies and toys based on that as a kid thinking it was all over - we remember that and remember the friends with similar interests, but may be overstating even then how mainstream or common it was. Definitely more than now though, I agree.

We have to remember there are about 40 million kids in the 5 to 14 year old age range in the US. If even 1 in 100 buys or is gifted a single Marvel Legend each year that is 400,000 figures or $10 million in sales.

Remember, this, comic cons, etc - completely unrepresentative sample of adults. If we polled adults to figure out the percent who collect action figures I am sure that number is much less than the percent of kids with action figures. We are only in the discussion due to the volume of the adult collections.

Does this count as a throne?

Dwight did seem particularly bullish on her, so fingers crossed that one wasn't a fake response! Would love to finally have her.

Anyone else finding their ML purchases way down this year? I have 3 shelves for new ML and the ML shelves are sparse without too many preorders in sight. DC is full only because I went back and got the DCAU stuff.
I wish I could say yes coz Im trying to cut back, but I'm getting most of the SDCC reveals and have a bulk of the stuff already from this year. I'm so weak.

In a related topic I got the F4 She-Hulk and shes pretty great. I already liked the SH body and the new paint and accessories are great. Ive put the ponytail head on the classic body for my "Main" Avengers team She-Hulk for the time being.

I actually think what I've RECEIVED so far is down from previous years, but I do have some malingering preorders that will absolutely drop on my skull before Christmas to make up the difference. The line I feel very, very down on purchasing (not cos they're bad, just not as much product to chase) is Star Wars.

EDIT: And literally FIVE SECONDS after I posted this I got shipping notification for Dragon Man.

Mine have been down the last few years, entirely due to Character Selection and my tastes. Anything X gets me back in the fold.

It's funny you mention this, because at my local EB they had new management come in (old one was stealing! Whole scandal!) and I'm known as the DC Guy because this year just happens to be good for Super and Bat stuff. Anytime I get a Joe or Legend both managers always make a deal of it.

What are the better Q&As (Legends or otherwise) that came out of the con? I watched Toy Kinda Mood, and I want more actual content. Tried Shartimus, but it was just a cheese and whine platter.

Is it less than usual? In terms of new ML waves, the FF, Gamerverse Spidey, a Spidey Retro, Nemesis, and the mini comics are a good 30 figures. Then there’s the 2 X-Force exclusives, NWH Electro, the 3 Brave New World movie figs, Black Suit Tobey, Gamerverse Venom, Punisher/Bushwacker, Masque/Crossbones, MCU reissue Spidey and Cap, Dark Avengers Warbird, Savage Land Professor X, X-Factor Jean, Psylocke/Thanos, the Savage Land 3-pack, and 2 Maximum figures. I’m sure I’m missing something but that’s 25 more. Feels like a pretty stuffed year with the bulk of it so spread out I never felt like I was getting a lot at once.

Looks like FF She-Hulk and Dragon Man are shipping. Looking forward to MvC, X-Men 97, and Sentinels too. Not sure if by the end we’ll be looki at

Jesse might’ve been ball-parking on the numbers, but I’d trust him since he’s been around so long at every level of Legends.
I guess my perspective is this: I know or have known enough people that work in the toy industry and/or work for large corporations that buy toys to know that a lot of this demographic stuff is utter bullshit. Like I said earlier, this is just the modern day 'girl action figures don't sell.' It's fake wisdom that everyone repeats despite there being no actual evidence, because it -sounds- right and someone smarter than them told it to them so it must be true.

I'm not saying Jesse DOESN'T have proper data to back up his claim. I'm saying his claim goes against a LOT of what I've heard over the years from a lot of different directions and I won't find his account of things credible without some evidence.
