Mattel DC Figures

I'm still missing his leg that came with Black Adam. I've never gotten to put him up on a shelf. 😰
Same! I wound up buying a loose Black Adam at a convention, as I never found that figure in the wild, and secondary market prices for that leg alone are ridiculous. My Chemo remains tucked away in a bin, missing his leg!

Not DC related, but I had that same thing happen with Marvel Legends Gamerverse Abomination. I completed him late and by that the time the leg that came with Iron Man was going for over $100 alone. I ended up using 2 of the leg from the Leaders. It worked better than you'd expect. Painful.

Do we know where we should or will first see Mattel's new DC figures? I was figuring it'd be something around September to have a bit of a buffer between preorders and the start of the year when their new product should rotate in, but I'm not sure what event is around that time. NYCC?

We might see some figures from Mattel previewed at Toyfair, but I don't think anything will be in stores before late Summer/early Fall of 2026.

I don't expect Mattel would be allowed to show anything while McFarlane is still producing, so as not to cut into the current license-holder's sales. I can't say that as a certainty, but it would seem like best business practices to me.

I think there is usually a bit of overlap. Once McFarlane has locked in the last of their production Mattel can start showing their product to retailers for orders, if I'm not mistaken. I remember the Hasbro 1/12 Fortnite stuff was being shown at Toyfair while the last few waves of the Jazwares figures in that scale were still showing up in stores.

Are yall planning to keep your McFarlane Multiverse depending how the Mattel product looks/turns out? I keep going back and forth with space as well.

I’m not starting from scratch yet again. If Mattel is compatible with Todd, I’ll cherry pick. If Mattel starts over in another scale, I’m likely done.

As for a timeline going forward, it’s kinda all over the place. Mattel was supposed to take over July 1st 2026. Second half of the year. Then it was second quarter of the year which would be April 1st. Appropriate in my view. Then it comes out that Spin Masters and Mattel will share the license for six months as the SM license goes until December 31st 2026. So why can’t Todd go until December 31st too? We know he’s working on Supergirl figures at the moment which is out in June 2026. Long runway indeed.

At this point, I don’t know what to think, expect, or believe. But in for a penny, in for a pound. I’m here until Todd is done with DCM 7ā€ figures. I’ll wait and see what happens next. I’ve still got a fading hope for Todd getting some sort of carve out. Not as optimistic as I once was though.

I only have 2. Captain Carrot, and Manbat. I'll keep Carrot unless Mattel releases one, and I'll keep Manbat forever, because he's my favorite most precious boy.

I'll likely keep the few I have, but won't display them unless the Mattel stuff winds up being in the same scale...and even then that is iffy. My DC collection is primarily 1:12, so I've only collected a small sampling of McF's stuff, which I used to display in my office at work. I've since left that job and now have a much smaller cubicle, so I don't have room for the Multiverse display I had going. My main display at home is mostly DCUC figures, and I tend to only buy stuff that is compatible with those. I can't see overhauling my home display with 1:10 scale stuff, but if I'm REALLY enamored of Mattel's offerings, and they happen to be in that scale, there is a possibility I would shift the 1:10 stuff over to my home display and box up my DCUC. They'd have to be really incredible for me to go that route though. Most likely, I'd just not collect the line at all and leave the McF stuff in bins.

I only ever got one Todd DC figure (If you give me any Ragman figure that isn't the post-New 52 gruel, I'll bite.) and don't really intend on getting more. I'm fine having various scales and lines in my collection, but I'll probably stuff McFarlane Ragman into a box or just have it as a bookshelf decoration if Mattel EVER releases their own. But even then, I may just replace it and get an extra or two for that purpose. This one won't be hard to beat, especially with how much better Mattel figures feel and pose.

They might do a NECA/Playmates situation.

Where Todd has to be in electronics (which he already started anyway), and Mattel gets the prime retail space. They likely have to be over a certain price point so as to not step on Mattel's toes. Maybe not do big tentpole movie releases, leaving that to Mattel.

It's possible with stipulations.
