Playmates TMNT Remastered

I want nothing to do with that Splinter or Shredder. I can wait for single card releases on the turtles and if they never come then I’ll be okay. These new ones look much better, but I still think the heads are too big and the ankles bother me.
 
Just found the 6 pack in the store. I couldn’t resist it.

My first thought on it is that the 4 turtles are great and worth the price of the entire set. I wish they had done ankle rockers and ball/hinge wrists but at $55 for the 4 of them it still feels worth it. For some reason the eyes/headband on Donnie is off center on mine (not sure if that is common or fixable) so if they ever sell them as singles I might replace him but otherwise they are came out good.

Splinter and Shredder are pretty bad. I would have preferred a Splinter that was closer to the original toy with more articulation. For Shredder, I just don’t know what the heck Playmates was thinking. Let’s take the adult human bad guy and make him dwarfed by the teenage turtles. If they make Bebop, Rocksteady and the Foot Soldiers I hope they make them a lot bigger than this Shredder.

You can heat and pry off the headbands if they are like the rough textured releases. I had to with my Leo because it was glued on crooked.
 
Oh no, Shredder is too small? I didn’t realize that. Bummer.
 
I was already primed to be disappointed by Shredder and Splinter because even in the box they're fucking garbage.
But I am still jealous of anyone finding this set. I really want those Toitels.
 
I think Playmates put ankle rockers on that crappy Splinter just to mess with us.
 
I saw a bunch of these sets at Target today. I was tempted, but that Shredder is just awful. He's a total pinhead. The turtles are okay, but I just didn't feel much excitement holding the set in hand so I set it back on the shelf. If you are interested, definitely try to get it in-store so you can find a set where the bandanas are lined-up properly. I saw some goofy ones. They also had the mutant module from the vintage line.
 
Ugh, I just had a thought...how many swaps are we gonna see with people putting the old textured ones back in this box & returning it? :mad:
 
Can confirm, the TMNT remastered pack has all the charm of the original 1988 figures. That said I do not enjoy playing with them. I’ve been too spoiled by modern figures to really care all that much about these

Having seen the set in person, I kinda want it still, but God damn Playmates needs to work on proportions of humans...and other thing. That Shredder really is a mess.
 
Saw a shelf tag for the remastered six pack but no figures. Not sure if they’re not out yet or if these have been hot sellers.

Hoping they go up on Target’s site soon and/or are easy to find in stores.

Yeah, I kinda just want this set to be available online to order. My two local stores don’t have the shelf tag, and I was at one out of the way store today that did have the tag but no sets in stock.
 
I would think it would be available online soon. One other positive with the set I forgot to mention, they finally fixed Raph’s shade of green and he no longer looks like toothpaste. I don’t know if it’s a perfect match to the vintage color, but it’s definitely an improvement.
