Snow C.A.T. Live!

Holy cow, just jumped over to Pulse to check the numbers myself and was confronted with that freaking glorious Star Wars gunship Haslab. Hadn't heard a word about that yet. Wow ... too rich for my blood, but it's nice.

Anyway, I know it's a different scale and all but some folks are gonna have to make some hard decisions. I'm surprised they didn't wait till Snowcat had run its course.

Yup. I was surprised that they are not even waiting for this one to be over first. I think they just took it for granted that this would already be funded by now.

They brought it up and showed stuff on their recap stream, and they mentioned the missile feature. What else are they supposed to. The Iceberg reveal was weak, though.
The stuff the guys said below you, really. I don't necessarily think of 'hyping' the product as just talking about it, but showing off complimentary stuff to get people more excited to have it, or showing off more of the product and geeking out about it a bit. Obviously they're limited on time, but also not really because they decide what they're going to talk about and for how long.

But imagine even just having render reveals for two more snow-themed characters, actually having Iceberg physically there (it's not like the SnowCat HasLab caught them by surprise), announcing that they're going to do winter Cobra Troopers. Imagine if they showed a still of the old 'Arctic Assault Squad' from the 25A days and said 'we're doing this in Classified and it'll be out around the same time as the SnowCat.'

Literally.. anything except the fat load of nothing we got.

And, as said above, to then have a competing product on their own landing page. What. the. fuck.

Yeah, I got nothing for the competing product. All the while (as evidenced in our family here) the Fall product is slamming well ahead of schedule this week and next.

Were other things funded at this stage, comparatively?

There's too much stuff. I'm really going to have to reprioritize what I'm into.

Yeah I think that played a part in the SW Haslab launching now. I mean the history of Classified Haslabs has been quick success, after quick success so there might have been some complacency about promoting Snow C.A.T. Although it isn't like they have gone out of their way on the last couple either. Also I think the Snow C.A.T. is a great offering with all the tiers.

It might just not be the kind of vehicle that is iconic enough to get people to back fully like the others.

Also it seems like Hasbro hasn't learned their lesson fully. Stop cannibalizing your Haslabs by having them overlap for significant periods of funding time. It doesn't help both projects.

Took a quick look at the LAAT Haslab and it is just over 1,000 backers. Not a great start to it either.

SnowC.A.T. is... down? 7266.
Yeesh, not good. You’d think they would have learned by now to NEVER have overlapping Haslabs again. I get SDCC is a big event to show these off in person but you really can only have one that gets that spot. Now we’ve got campaigns cannibalizing each other again. Sigh.

Snow C.A.T.

7,298 / 8,000 (-16) 91.23% of funding goal with 19d 18h left.

Well this is a bad sign. Now losing backers in one 24 hour period is not the end of things, but to lose backers during SDCC weekend when it should be a time with a lot more eyeballs on the project? Not good and hopefully a one off. Also doesn't help that Hasbro just doesn't seem to learn their lesson. Stop overlapping Haslabs, especially in this kind of economic environment. Speaking of (as a bit of context).......

LAAT/i Dropship:

1,242 / 8,000 (first update) 15.53% of funding goal with 44d 18h left. So this is not a good start but it doesn't mean it can't get across the finish line.

For comparison the Snow C.A.T. in it's first day (19 hours) had 5,173 backers (where the hell did everyone go since then?). The Cantina in the first day had 3,152 backers (more than double). And that ended at 14,737 backers. So there is no reason to worry just yet.

I see the CAT funding, but it’s gonna be very unpredictable on those tiers. Flint likely won’t see the light of day at this rate, and if it isn’t close, I won’t want LJ either. In which case, I will likely abandon the project.

I really like Republic Gunships for the same reasons the Tomahawk is one of my favorite 3.75 vehicles, but I have three Gunships in a large bin because their size and shape is a little too unruly for me to deal with. One day I'd like to pull at least one of them out. I'm not even thinking about a Haslab version.

I hope it does fund and get to at least the Bivouac. This could be like the Skystriker and squeak it out in the final day or two and then everyone makes a run because it is going to get made and the FOMO means they have to back. If that is the case it could be like the Skystriker and the final tier just gets missed because of the lack of remaining time.

Yeah, but with the Skystriker, they did the whole Cobra takeover thing in the final days and added more figures. It was in trouble prior to that. I guess that could happen here if it keeps trending down.

I'm also pretty worried about the tiers at this point. As far as I'm concerned, they're an essential part of the package and without them I'm gonna back out.

Yep. However I took a look back (I have been posting in a dedicated thread on actionfigurenews.ca since Galactus).

The Cobra Takeover helped to get the backing number up from low double digits daily to triple digits. It only gained about 2,000 backers from the time the Cobra Takeover was revealed until the final day push. However the Skystriker was still almost 2,200 backers short on the final day (10,000 needed to fund).

The Rancor failing was probably as big a factor as the Cobra Takeover. It failed the day before and the final day was just shy of 9,000 backers added for the Skystriker. So it might have been, at least, as big a factor with backers probably thinking "why not since I don't have to back the Rancor?"

Doing the background checking has assuaged some of my fears about the Snow C.A.T. It is pretty much 700 away from backing with almost 3 weeks left. If it can get back to positive daily gains it should be fine to unlock, and then once unlocked it should get to at 1 or 2 tiers. Probably also helps that the SW Haslab is not exactly doing gangbusters and the current sentiment seems to range from "meh" to overpriced.

Negative numbers has to be a first for a classified Haslab. Not a great sign. I have no doubt it will still fund, but I am starting to worry about the tiers now. Not getting Flint and his food items would be a real tragedy. Starting to feel they got a bit cocky with this one based on past performance and now it’s backfiring with this new overlapping Haslab.

Not knowing what Haslabs are upcoming really helps. If people know what’s coming, they may pass on one for another. Looks like a few backed out due to the Gunship. Ironically, the Gunship isn’t off to a great start either. Could this be the first TVC Haslab to fail? Could this be the first Classified Haslab to not meet all tiers? I sure hope not.

Snow C.A.T.

7,373 / 8,000 (+75) 92.16% of funding goal with 18d 18h left.

Nice to see this moving forward again, and above where it was before the loss of backers yesterday. Let's hope it was just a one off and forward momentum continues. I would feel more comfortable if this could officially fund soon so the tiers can be worked on going into the final days.
