Big Bad Workshop General

I do understand why he's the arms dealer. He makes toy weapons. I, personally, would rather be made into a monster, but it makes sense at least.
This was my thought as well. It's a meta-joke. And in that way it doesn't quite feel as edgy automatically.

I mean he still could be one of those dudes, I don't know this guy from Adam, but I can see where the idea comes from that isn't that militia-bro place.

Haven't bought any of this line yet but I really like the looks of those unpainted folks in the original IG post - generic gangsters, a priest, and a cheerleader would actually really be fun to have for action figure photos. Nobody anywhere has really done a good 1/12 scale civilian line worth spending money on.

As others have talked about, I too have a strong repulsion to when a toy line sticks a "real person" head on a figure and makes it part of their line. There's one Mythic Legions head sculpt and ever since I got him I've been like: why does this feel so much weaker than ALL their other work? And it's based on a fan. Meh. But that's high fantasy. Giving someone the power fantasy of being a super amazing hardass commando as an action figure just gives me the ick.

I went looking for that Valaverse figure mentioned up thread and... I didn't know it was possible to SMELL an action figure through the internet. Both Trigger and Atlas look like guys you need to stay downwind of at the gym because they think Axe is a shower and frequently use the word "females" unironically to describe women.

But also as others have said, a bespoke action figure of yourself is actually really cool. I wish Hasbro's line had been stronger - I kinda wish I got my own dumb skull on a Snake Eyes body, looking back, but I was holding out hoping they'd do a generic Rebel trooper.

Well now you've gone and ruined the next D&D character concept I was working on. Thanks, Damien. He was a totally sick half-angel/half-demon with a giant scythe made from bones and had a totally hot goth girlfriend.
A reminder to go check DnDBeyond to see this edgelord concept... :)

DESTRO is an arms dealer and has a billion times more personality and uniqueness to his concept and design. This is just lazy edgelord bullshit.
Tell me one reason why an arms dealer -cannot- be a werewolf mummy armed with a gun that shoots smaller guns that themselves shoot tiny chainsaws. One reason.

I want an arms dealer who looks like Micro from the Punisher TV show. Give me "works from home, permanently" vibes.

Also the mental gymnastics I need to go through to have such a man-crush on Destro while also being wildly anti-war/anti-gun IRL is epic. My favorite Joes villain is someone I should despise, but put a man in a metal mask and a deep vee and I swoon.

Destro is the best kind of arms dealer in the same way Raylan Givens is the best kind of cop.

Fictional.

Basically all the fiction that I love is lousy with people that kill people - something I also generally disagree with. To quote Jake.. it's fictional. That's kind of what makes it okay. I give myself permission to enjoy fake stuff that I would not enjoy if it were real stuff. Like arms dealers.

Same here. I'm rabidly anti-violence and war, but love Call of Duty and John Wick.

This is me with basically any gun-heavy toy line. I'm about as anti-gun as anyone can get (getting shot at in a mall parking lot will do that to ya, I guess) but I'm over here LOVINGLY setting up my Punisher and Joes figures on a shelf.

Although all things being equal, I'm more of a sword dork than a gun dork when it comes to action figures. Or really, claws are peak. Werewolves and Wolverine, top shelf murder machines IMO.

While I am absolutely 10000% the resident sword nerd here, the true fact is that I also actually like guns. Like actually. I think they're cool and I spent some time when I did work for BrickArms researching guns and starting to enjoy their history and design language in the same way I enjoy swords and the like. Even shooting guns can be fun.

I just recognize that they're awful and do awful things and MY interest in them, if I had my way in the universe, would never outweigh my desire for society to be completely rid of them. Because I'm not a crybaby child that only cares about himself.

Same. I'm frequently checking the internet movie firearms database to see exactly what kind of rifle a character had in a particular scene, then search etsy and ebay to see if anyone has 3D printed that. Guns are like Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, or the Bible where it's fictional lore I love learning every aspect of... except the nonfiction part also exists for guns obviously.

It has two meanings you see. Because he shoots guns, and guns have triggers. But also, he's really just here to TRIGGER THE LIBS. My god, Bobby Vala is so fucking smart and witty and handsome. I can't even handle it.
I rolled my eyes so far & hard, I went blind for a month, and had to have an Eye-Roll-Reversiotomy to fix them when I saw that fucking figure. 😅

MAGAts are such snowflakes. I think they need a Safe Space™.

Yeah. I've messed with guns a bit thanks to friends who are more into them and I 100% get the aesthetic appeal, the fun of plinking targets and such. It's rad. No doubt.

And if real guns were as relatively safe as Nerf I might feel differently. Alas...

Yeah. Like, I love watching me some Jonathan Ferguson videos on youtube. I've bought all but one of the weapon packs from Valaverse just because I want my Punisher ARMED. But that's the academic, fictional interest in guns, not the things as real life objects with an explicit purpose.
