McFarlane DC Multiverse

I wasn't going to collect the line (too many bad McFarlane experiences in the past... figures just falling apart in my hands) but they were SO easy to get and often discounted SO much that I got hooked. The White Knight Batman blew my mind and I ended up buying a couple dozen figures that first year. But they were cheap and easy to find. Now? What a pain in the arse.

That being said, I did order the most basic, least frustrating to get versions of comic style Mr. Terrific and Lex from BBTS today because I know I'll want them after seeing the movie this week, and a very generous member of this forum hooked me up with Hawkgirl which I very much appreciate, because in the next week or so I'll have comic versions of the characters I like who appear in the film.

But man, the heel turn toward making us work hard to get the figures in this line has been a kick in the nuts.
 
Speaking of - are the Superman movie Theatrical Editions available at Target? I have only seen the Lion version lately.
 
Quick question. Anyone seen Kite-Man out and about at Target yet? I checked ebay as an outlier, finding a few in hand listings from inside the U.S. Prices hovering around $65.00 delivered. I’ve got a preorder in for him. He’s not something I’d overpay for, but still cool to have. Just curious. Not seen anything on Reddit either.

There is a lone movie Mr. Terrific at my target which is weird because I've seen none of the others there.

Target had most of the Theatrical Editions back at the end of May. They may have been the local first retailer to stock them. I haven't seen any since except for lone stragglers that may not have been purchased on that day.
 
Huh. It's also interesting that McFarlane decided not to do movie Guy and Hawkgirl but did variants of those characters with the movie figures - at least, in the Walmart release. Has there been comment on the why of that?

I'm still hoping for a surprise Lois/Clark pack.

I'd also like a Lois & Clark pack too. Guy, Hawkgirl and the Engineer would also be welcome.
 
Not to be that guy, but I think we kinda know why Todd didn't do Hawkgirl, Lois, or the Engineer. The only thing that kinda throws a wrench in that theory is, like Schizm said, he did do a comic Hawkgirl alongside the wave, but (while I don't 100% know), that looks to reuse at least a couple parts from past figures- at least the wings, I think, so maybe that was the reason more than anything. But when he's churning out Baby Joey and Baby Kaiju figures, as well as the weirdly proportioned tiny Metamorpho but not a single lady, it does make you wonder. At the very least, even if Todd never gets around to them, I'm sure that Mattel will on whatever future appearances they have (if they don't just circle back and do Superman 2025 figures next year anyway).
 
This could also be due to a far simpler explanation which is that the actors for these rolls weren’t casted by the time Todd was given the order requisition to make figures based on the movie. Especially since it takes about 2 1/2 years to make your average action figure from the approval process to the preorder announcement & release. So since todd was shot in the foot, he decided to offer fans comic versions of these characters to help take the pressure off of DC/WB and make the collectors happy

I think Todd could have done better in regards to the Superman 2025 line, aside from the missing characters mentioned, I probably would have made the Superman robot with swappable number shields instead of heads so it could be an army builder, Metamorpho should have be a deluxe figure with multiple swappable parts, Lex could have been a basic figure and maybe even some of Lex's raptors/goons as army builders too.

If Mattel do circle back to Superman it would be interesting, would they then do a Todd and dive into even older media? But tbh if Mattel go the 6 inch route I'm out as I don't want to rebuy an entire collection.
