Loyal Subjects MASK toy line

The exclusive Rhino was more in the $140ish area on a British site. I don't know if it's BBTS upping the price on exclusives because yesterday they listed a Storm Collectibles excl Blanka at $50 more than the regular version.

Didn't BBTS used to be known for upcharging on everything before they stabilized as one of the industry pillars for toys and ecommerce?

I wasn't back in the game then.

Damn. At $35/$50/$75/$100 I was talking myself into it, but it was a stretch. But these 4 or a Haslab? Haslab wins.

I opened my email and saw a barrage of July 1 toy things. Painful week.

They did always upcharge on everything, but I feel like, just eyeballing it, they haven't increased prices at the same rate everyone ELSE increased prices, so their upcharges aren't as rough as they used to be (aside from stuff like Mythic Legions). I think outliving two or three stores that went super sketchy and keeping shipping cheap has lessened the pricing resentment. They weren't really a go-to for me til Dorkside imploded.

So I just checked on Titan Toyz website and..........yeah those prices can take themselves out to the woodshed and I'll "Old Yeller" them.

Let me be clear, I'm not blaming Titan Toyz because they have to go with what they get on pricing. However those are some shit ass prices for Canadians. In case anyone hasn't seen, here is what they are (before tax) in Canadian dollars:

MDU (Rhino) SDCC exclusive - $240
MDU (Rhino) regular release - $170
High Tech Helicopter (Switchblade) - $125
Thunderhawk - $85
Condor - $50

So to get everything, including the SDCC MDU it would be $670. If I add my local tax it comes out to $757 (or $555US). And that doesn't include shipping!!!

So in the end it looks to be about $100US more to get everything in Canada than in the US if using the bundle package at BBTS plus the standard MDU. Not too bad I guess, but at $855Cdn after tax (for me location), again not including shipping, I can safely say I won't be getting in on this line anytime soon. Maybe I'll bite on one or two vehicles if I have the spare cash lying around, but there are a lot of big ticket items coming in the next three months that means I probably won't have that spare cash.

It will be interesting to see if these sell well in Canada because as others have said you can get the originals in great shape for equivalent pricing, or less, in some cases.

Titan Toyz has always been wild back when I just knew them at Toy Shows in Burlington and Sauga. Not sure if they ever set up in Fan Expo.

Would love to know how they brokered this distributer deal. But TT aside, for me a lot of the sticker shock (even USD) is Loyal Subjects. Based on what I know them for... they got gall. Or they really upped their game.

I just got the Thunderhawk and Condor. I might end up grabbing the other 2. But for now, I just grabbed the 2. I just at least need a couple for some MASK representation in my toy room.

They started off strong but I barely had any of the villain vehicles and can really cherry pick the line from here on out. I swear if they hadn't released the effing RHINO first this wouldn't be so overwhelming (as a U.S. buyer -- Canadian folks, my heart goes out to you, those prices are brruuuuuutal). There's maybe three more vehicles I'd truly want (IIRC either of Hondo's vehicles, the Raven, and the Stiletto?). And gawd help me, I need Buddy Hawks and Alec Sector somehow but do not want them to release Boulder Hill as a playset, it's too much. But I'd buy the two characters (remember the little two-packs of figures they'd release as repaints? I swear those were gifts to parents. "Kid lost his action figure? Don't want to re-buy the entire effing car? Buy the little guys!")

Those Cdn prices are nutty. I was checking out the UK site Star Action Figures, where I would occasionally buy from pre Trump. Someone can tell me if my conversions from British Pounds to USD is inaccurate.

Switchblade $71.50
Condor $28.85
Thunderhawk $48.10
Exc. Rhino $141.50
Reg. Rhino 94.75

SAF, on their FB, said they under ordered and sold through their first preorders faster than expected. They put up another round of preorders and those are sold out minus Switchblade.

We had the Rhino as a kid. And the Jeep that launched a boat? Never had the main Trakker car.

I remember the Chevy that had flames on it... Hurricane?

Maybe I'll get the main car and the Stiletto. What was the evil lady car, the Manta, the Whip?

I remember already being deep into He-Man, GI Joe, and Transformers so MASK was kind of hard to lobby for from mom.

I may have watched more MASK cartoons than anything else as a kid, but somehow never got any toys. So MASK has long been a fantasy get of mine.

Now that it's here, though, I'm neck deep in 6" scale and I can't bring myself to do it. There's no reason the Condor at least can't be done in 1/12, so I'm going to hold out for that. I bet Ramen could even do a Thunderhawk if they were feeling ballsy.

I changed my order. I just ordered the Bundle. Even if I'm not a completest of the line, this first Wave offering from Loyal Subjects looks great. They look so much like the real 80's toys, and they give me such good nostalgic feelings, so why wouldn't I just get them all, especially since I've been anticipating them since Loyal Subjects announced them. And I wouldn't want to buy vintage MASK toys in the box to open and play with, so this allows me to have them, open them up, and mess with them without guilt.

I actually kept my orders though for an individual Thunderhawk and Condor as well. I may still get them just to keep MIB.

Here's one I don't remember, from the site linked by @docsilence, a Miles Mayhem Symbiote variant. MASK was way ahead of its time.

So, Loyal Subjects is doing a Black and Gold Variant of the Rhino for the MASK Anniversary which will be sold on their website. It will go up for order tomorrow.

Luckily, this kind of thing doesn't interest me at all. But hey, to those it does interest, it's a nice way for LS's to make some money off their existing MASK Molds.
