McFarlane DC Multiverse

Unfortunately, it is a recurring theme, I don't see many new McFarlane waves on local shelves. I'd be more than happy to just order online (as I do with most collectibles), but the fact that 50% of the line is chase figures or "in store only" makes that all but impossible. So, I get that the general availability of product is not entirely in McFarlane's (or any other toy manufacture's) hands, but the inability to order product online is entire on McFarlane Toys.

So many of my hobbies revolve around the makers not wanting it to be simple to take my money, and it's obnoxious.

Yep, one of the things I liked best about this line was that, previously, it was pretty darn easy to collect. There were always a few annoying outliers (mostly Walmart exclusives), but for the most part and ESPECIALLY in the earlier days of the McF store, you could order most of the line straight away and expect to receive it promptly. That has ABRUPTLY eroded over the past several months.

Eradicator, digial Two Face, and digital Superman all arrived from BBTS today. Really nothing outstanding with the first two figures.

Superman might be the best 6-7" Superman released by a domestic toy company. Todd definitely didn't put any bells or whistles into this, but the sculpt was absolutely nailed and the colors are spot on. There, that's all you need. The last Superman you'll need before the line ends. I hope we get a Batman like this.

Found the Superman end-cap at Walmart yesterday and snagged 1 regular and 2 platinum Hawkgirls. I was incredibly shocked to find these. The end-cap was in the electronics department but not very close to the other collectible figures. I had to walk all the way to the back wall and then take a left and go down a couple of more aisles before I spotted it. I think it was pretty untouched too because it still had all the Hawkgirls and 4 Robots, and red Guy Gardner, etc. So, if you go to Walmart and don't see anything look all around the electronics section before you give up.

My Walmart doesn't have the Superman endcap anywhere. They only have endcaps for DragonBall Z and How to Train Your Dragon RC in electronics. This isn't surprising to me as they still haven't ever stocked Jade, James Gordon or Silver Age Bizarro. The only DC figures they have are a couple each of Adam Strange, Deadshot and Year Two Batman.

I did start seeing a lot more Superman movie stuff elsewhere this weekend, though. I picked up a movie Mr. Terrific at Gamestop but passed on everything else I saw for now. I was tempted by the Superman w/ Krypto, Ultraman and suited Lex but chose to not to buy any. I never saw any of the Robot or any Hawkgirls whatsoever. There were tons of Metamorpho everywhere. He doesn't seem very popular despite being a pretty cool figure.

I'm starting to get very frustrated with McFarlane Toy Store. I ordered Hawkgirl, Cowboy Batman, Armored Green Lantern and Eradicator from them on pre-order lauch day and there has been no movement despite seeing many of these at brick and mortar retail at this point.

I saw post on Facebook that McFarlane's direct shipments were held up due to tariff related shipping issues. A lot of folks are still waiting on the Superman movie Super Powers items to ship as well. Keep in mind that if you have the opportunity to purchase elsewhere, you can always email them to cancel an order.

Which Hawkgirl are people liking more, regular or platinum?
I like both. Need both as well because Shayera was retconned into the JSA at some point.

I’ve decided to squeeze as much JSA and Titans out of this line as I can before the end. That now includes adjacent characters like Mr. Bones and Steve Trevor. And the retcon Hawkgirl.

McFarlane shipping used to be pretty reliable. Now it’s the backup plan.

I like them both. I'm tempted to say I like the regular because it's the most accurate. But I like the brown wings on the platinum and it being an "homage" to the original look doesn't really bother me either. I know I'm not a big enough fan of Hawkgirl to drop $70(!) on her by buying both, so I'm torn. I know I would want to match platinum Hawkgirl with a platinum Hawkman and that, apparently, is a lost cause at this point.

Got Jim Gordon yesterday. I can honestly say he's one of my favorite figures in the line so far, though he's got all the hallmarks of where this line sometimes goes wrong - the diaper pants, the weirdly high shoulders/short neck, and I think the pants are reuse becuase there's some sculpted rips in the thigh. His wedding ring is a nice touch, but it's just painted on, not sculpted. He does have one of hte best face sculpts in the the line so far though, and he's fun to pose.

Really my only complaint that bothers me more than nit-picking was how once again it's a figure whose gun is too big to comfortably fit in his hand. It was a STRUGGLE to get this revolver in place, and I definitely dinged the paint doing it. I feel like guns that fit in hands has been a weakness in the line for a long time, but also it feels like an industry trend? LIke not just Todd - I've had trouble getting accessories into hands across three or four lines this year. Are companies not scaling things properly at the moment?
