Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

It's funny, I keep seeing "Pedro Pascal is overexposed" but I've never seen anything he's been in so F4 will be my first experience with him.

I didn't like Cap 4. It was a bit souless to me, except for the Isaiah Bradley drama (Lumbley and Mackie are so good together) and felt like a missed opportunity.
You know, that's valid. There wasn't a lot of depth, but it was kinda fun. That's why I lump in with Phases 1 and 2, when it was more fun and the movies weren't really expected to deliver a bunch of connections and set up and what not. I don't mind that it picked up threads from 2008 and so on, and Sam is fun enough for me, but YES... Isaiah feels like a missed opportunity, and did on the show as well to me.

I don't like Star Wars! So Mandalorian was a no-go. No interest in The Last of Us, either, but I did just remember I saw Wonder Woman 1984, which I'd rather forget.
Okay... that's fair. But he was fantastic in that!

How about Narcos? That was the first thing I saw him in I think... or maybe Game of Thrones, I can't remember. But he was great on Narcos.

I saw an episode of Narcos Mexico at the barbershop once, but I don't think he was in it. I've never seen Game of Thrones either lol

Ah, he was in original Narcos, heh. There are some crossover characters between the shows, but he is not one of them. Which is a real bummer and a pretty big ball they dropped. If you haven't seen GOT by now, I feel you shouldn't.

I wanted to like CA4 but it really did feel like one of those movies that got hacked apart by committee. The cast is great, it had some really fun action sequences (they really do play up the flight thing with Sam really well) but it felt a bit glued together, which is sad cos I do love Mackie's charactert arc as Cap.

I love Pascal but wasn't sure he was the perfect fit for Reed, but I'm getting it now - Reed is so distant that you need someone who draws empathy to him the way Pedro does to get the most out of this role. You can't cast a cold, analytical actor as Reed or you get a shell of a character.

Yeah, it definitely deserved better, and you're right about it feeling hacked apart. As it is, I feel it was "fine" and didn't really stand out one way or the other. Fun and not bad.

Yeah that's a good point. I never had any reaction to his casting since I am not much of an FF fan. My only real exposure to him is in mega team-ups like Secret Wars, so I'm more about how he interacts with others.

Man, July is a banger movie month! Jurassic Park, Superman, and FF! The latter 2 look amazing, and JP may be a bit monsterous more then dinosaurish, but should still be a fun movie.
I love this post. My man @TFitz has summed up my feelings exactly.

We've had Superman and Fantastic Four movies before, of course. But except for that first Superman movie back in 1978 they've all kind of missed the mark.

Fox really blew it with the FF. It was clear they just didn't get it. The FF is not a situation comedy nor is it dark, gritty and "grounded". The Fantastic Four are just the exact opposite of grounded. They're ... FANTASTIC. It's the lost city of Atlantis, Monster Island, the Negative Zone, the Blue Area of the Moon, the Savage Land, Attilian, Wakanda, Latveria ... it's Dr. Doom's time machine, the Watcher, the Kree, the Skrulls, the Devourer of Worlds ... it's epic fantasy on an incredible scale. The FF are a family. They're not superheroes per se. Fighting crime is not what gets them out of bed in the morning. I mean, if they're tooling around town in the Fantasticar and they see a bank robbery or something they'll obviously stop it. But at their core, the Fantastic Four are explorers. They're scientists. They challenge the unknown (as their counterparts at a different comic book company did). Based on what I've seen of this film so far, I really feel that Marvel Studios gets it. Finally.

Superman. What is Superman to me? Remember that scene in the 1978 movie, when Margot Kidder as Lois Lane asked "Who are you?" and Superman said "A friend." Bingo. That's it. He's a friend. He's hope when all seems lost. He can fight the battles that we can't. He's everything we wish we could do and everything we wish we could be. And his world is Smallville, Metropolis, the woman he loves, his best friend, his boss, his parents, his dog, his Kryptonian cousin and his home. He values life. Everyone's life. It's the bottled city of Kandor, it's Jimmy Olsen's signal watch, it's the Legion of Super-Heroes, it's a race against the Flash, it's the Fortress of Solitude, it's being part of the World's Finest team with another caped crusader. That's what Superman is to me.

So, based on what I've seen so far, it would appear that Kevin Feige and James Gunn get it. They really, really get it. At last, we're going to get the Fantastic Four and Superman movies I've waited my entire life for. No more Galactus as a storm cloud, no more dour and brooding Man of Steel.

I'm sixty six years old, but a part of me will always be six. When comics were so much fun. And that's how old I'm going to be at the movies next month.

Can't wait.

I'm so excited for Fantastic Four and have loved the first 3 episodes of Ironheart. Between all of this and Thunderbolts, it's a good time to be a fan imo. I didn't hate CA4 either but did find it mid.
Best description I've heard of Cap Amer 4 is its like a solid trade paperback. Not much more. Which is fine. I like a decent 6 issue run of a comic book.

I was first exposed to Pedro Pascal in Game of Thrones when he exposed himself in one of the show's many nude scenes. (Actually, I was just going for. a cheep pun. Sorry. I actually don't remember if he was nude in that show and I'm on a work computer so I'm not going to google it to find out. All I recall (fondly) for nude scenes was Mother of Dragons.......And the Red Witch......And Natalie Dormer.........And John Snow's ginger Wildling.........and the Winterfell town whore........But that's it.)

I was then exposed to Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian. But significantly less so seeing as how he was in full costume and helmet most of the time.

The Pedro Pascal exposure continued in the unfortunate Wonder Woman 1984.

That's as exposed as I've been to Pedro Pascal.

Also most of the time he's wearing a stunt man, heh.

He is really great in Last Of Us but I know that show isn't for everyone.
