McFarlane DC Multiverse

I could use some expertise on this. Yesterday in one of the facebook groups I follow, someone said they found the new JLA vs Godzilla vs Kong DC Multiverse Superman vs Godzilla set at their local target. I don’t see this set on the target app and that store isn’t among the list of authorized retailers that would sell this. They only list, BBTS, EE, GameStop, Walmart, Amazon and MTS. So what happened here? Are these sets starting to pop out of the woodwork elsewhere and Target just happened to process a return for an item that wasn’t in their inventory? Or are these figures starting to sneak in under the radar at Targets as well?

I caved on Gordon. I stuck a bunch of Gordons in my eBay cart and waited for eBay to auto-generate a discount offer to pick the cheapest one. Ended up paying $37 for him but it'd annoy the living crap out of me if I didn't have a Gordon to go with Batman at this scale and i know we'll never see him again.

Might try that with Hawkgirl, too. Not many characters left I want to fight for in this line but she's one of them. Considering I got into McFarlane because they were so often discounted and easy to get early on, this crawl toward the end seems to only be getting worse and worse with his fake scarcity habit.
 
There was a tip that a Walmart close to me had an endcap full of new stuff. I was able to grab a regular Hawkgirl. I would have been OK with grabbing more. They had movie Lex, #4, Mr. Terrific, two platinum Hawkgirls among others......but that price creep. Man. Three figures for over $100? Can't do it anymore. I left a lot there.
 
My understanding is that the retailers are demanding these exclusives. I doubt there would be this many if the retailers weren’t onboard. Even with Todd’s definite proclivities in that direction.
 
Definitely feels like a “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander” kind of situation. As long as exclusivity drives customers into shops and it’s a guaranteed money printer then by all means, sell those out the wazoo. We’ll be happy to sell as many as we can bring in

Ah man, had I known, I would have snagged them. I had literally both in my hands at Walmart the other day.

Honestly, I think it can cut both ways. I know there are dozens of times I have gone into Target or Walmart looking for an on-shelf exclusive, where if they have it I will buy other stuff since I'm going through checkout anyway - but if they don't have what I'm looking for I leave, buying nothing, out of spite, and pick those other items up at the grocery store or from Amazon..

Those two figures were offered in what must have been the most limited of quantities for pre-order at all of Gamestop, McFarlane Toy Store and Walmart and I was unsuccessful at all and have never seen them anywhere at physical retail. Silver Age Bizarro was a similar situation, but I'm not as worried about that figure because I have the two prior McFarlane Bizarro figures. I missed the Target for pre-order for Kite-Man as well so I'm hoping that I don't eventually have to resort to ebay for him also (like I had to for Geo-Force). I want Kite-Man more than any of those other figures that I just mentioned.

This is what I mean. I bet they think money is being left on the table when people can't find their product.

I mean the preorder window on everything is becoming 5 minutes. No business that doesn't have genuine unsolvable scarcity works that way.
 
Disappointed with no surprise drop of Mr. Bones. They showed the render at WonderCon. Love the Black Terror costume. Supposed Red Platinum is Obsidian. I had hoped they were all coming together in this wave.

It's been AGES since I've read Earth 2, but I remember the "evil Superman" having a pretty striking costume. The guy Val ended up having to fight (was that a brainwashed Superman from that world? A clone? I don't recall). But that costume was killer, along with Val's white and blue outfit. And I agree, Flash and Dr. Fate had cool outfits, so did Jay and Hawkgirl. Very underrated book, in my opinion, and I actually enjoyed how it ended though I know a lot of people didn't.

I thought Superman's N52 costume was the best under Rocafort's art. Those were some damn pretty comics.

Yeah, if I had to pick one out of all of them, it would be the Flash. Val Zod is a close #2. And I also remember Brutaal. He was the Earth 2 Bizarro created by Darkseid. That would be a cool design.

I know we’re on the clock now. Todd’s got a year and a half, tops. Time to double down on mainstream characters. But I’d still love to see some more Multiverse characters. Groups like Kingdom Come or New 52 Earth 2, or one-offs like Gotham by Gaslight Batman or Superman: The Dark Side.
 
Yeah, I'd be happy to keep throwing Todd money if he'd fill in some mainstream character gaps. Characters I'd buy immediately if he made them even as the line winds down:

  • Zatana
  • Comics-(non-animated) style Harley Quinn
  • Comics-style Poison Ivy
  • ICE to go with Fire
  • Cosmic Boy and Saturn Girl to go with Lightning Lad
  • Big Barda and Scott Free

  • A classic Raven
  • Comics Alfred
  • Cheetah
  • Ray Palmer
  • Stephanie Brown
  • Jimmy Olsen
  • Maxwell Lord
Aaaaaand looking at that list, I really hope Mattel is not averse to making female characters, cos WTF on some of the unmade women in this line.

We're at that point now that something would likely already have to be scheduled for production. I'm sure that there will be more coming out than what has been shown so far, but most stuff that we'd still be getting has likely already at least hit the leaked solicit lists by this point. I'd argue that we likely have 12 months tops and that the vast majority of the McF DC product for 2026 will probably come during the first quarter. I'm sure that he'd like to get most of what he has planned out prior to this Christmas this year.
 
My Cyborg Superman (Reign, not red) came in. Super excited to have him. He was my favourite of the four, and I think Mcfarlane knocked it out of the park.

Undecided on some weathering with Nuln Oil.
 
Random question but do we know if there is a red platinum release or some other kind of variant for the upcoming Troika Batman? Need to know if that’s offered in a unique colorway
