Storm Collectibles

Got hold of Ken and yeah, I like him a lot!

How'd you manage to snag him?

Man, I love what Jada is doing at the price point and for articulation, but the aesthetic Storm has landed on is so much more my jam. I could be biased since one of the first titles I picked up for my PlayStation was Street Fighter Alpha. It's easily the the Street Fighter game I've spent the most time with as a kid.

Aren't Storm figures usually more in a 1:10 or 7-inch scale?
Bro, I don't know WHAT scale they normally go with, lol.

Ken the Eagle from Gatchaman is supposed to be 5'9"/180cm.

The figure is 7.75"/19.685cm.

They're, like, 1:9 or something lol. I hate it, lol.

I'm super happy Darkstalkers is part of Arena, as the only other SC I have are Demitri & Morrigan, but then what do I do about 1:12 scale Gatchaman? Do I keep my preorder for Jun the Swan, or sell Ken, and go without any? 😰

Anthony is raving about both Storm Arena figures calling them the best action figures of all time and a LOT better than the Jada figures due to superior paint and sculpt detaiing. That's a bold claim, and it has probably sold me on the line to give it a shot. Storm already made really good figures, but these look like they said to themselves that they wanted to do even BETTER than Jada so the idea that they may have succeeded is amazing.

At first I really didn't think I needed any other versions of most of the Street Fighter characters since Jada is killing it so much, but these sound too good to not try at such a cheap price.

I don’t mind that ab crunch on Ryu and Ken since the gi covers it, but it bugs me on Sagat. They didn’t even line it up for that photo which makes me wonder what the neutral stance is. I’d prefer they ditch it on characters with exposed abs.

What a time to be alive for Street Fighter fans.
Has any other franchise in history been in this position? Where two companies are simultaneously giving it their all doing the same characters in the same scale at (roughly) the same price? What if Marvel and DC fans had this "problem"?

I'm already all-in on Jada with no regrets, and with them being like four away from completing the SF 2 roster, I'm locked in. But the Storm stuff looks awesome too.

A few more than that, unfortunately. Probably won't see them until 2026 at this rate.

Zangief
Akuma
E. Honda
T. Hawk
Balrog
Technically still need to see Vega released.

As fantastic as they are, they are equally as slow as molasses.

I don't really remember a time this was happening. I mean sometimes a few releases line up nicely, a marvel legends alongside a mafex or something. Or, you know, lego and such. But two action figure lines, doing the same brand, same characters, same scale, same price? Not really. There's usually legal stuff preventing that from happening, licenses and such.

I feel like we only see this on occasion with import companies, like Bandai and Medicom, but it's never this expansive. It's cool that, in this case, Jada and Storm are doing different games with a slightly different aesthetic. Jada's Ryu very much resembles Street Fighter 2 Ryu while Storm's very much resembles the same character from Alpha. It's great for us, the consumer, though I'm guessing Jada isn't as enthused about it Storm entering the picture, but what are you gonna do? It will be nuts if Bandai starts doing more SF characters as part of its own Gamerverse line. Then we'll really be eating good as consumers.
