Convention Questions for the Legends Team...

I don't see why they don't just MTO it. That way it's not at retail, well not usually.
I imagine it's the same reason that Bobby said he won't put certain iconography on his WWII German figures no matter how much people complain to him about it. Maybe it's that someone -at- Hasbro finds it distasteful enough to not -want- to do it and it has nothing to do with retail. Or maybe the company overall doesn't want to be associated with certain imagery no matter where that thing is purchased.

If someone at Hasbro or Disney thinks that the M'Baku character is a problem, that could be enough to squash it, but even if that isn't the case, I certainly would understand they don't want to have to deal with potential backlash if that became a thing after someone complains on TikTok about it. Its not like they are leaving millions on the table by not making him, so the risk/reward may just not be there.

Yeah, but don't the Tiktok losers bellyache about everything? In their minuscule minds everything is "problematic". Of course they'll cry about a Man-Ape figure. They cry about lots of characters. Does anyone actually listen?

Depends on how much -legitimacy- they can muster behind their complaints. 'Hasbro made an action figure of a black guy and put him in a big monkey suit' has the potential to get a LOT of traction from a LOT of people that have no vested interest in any of this, don't even care about Marvel, don't understand any of the characters, but are just outraged by the headline in a way that like 'my Cyclops figure is too short!' can't generate.

But again, it doesn't even have to be that Hasbro is worried about the reaction. It can just be that someone at Hasbro does not want that visual associated with their company name at all. It happens. I think if I ran a toy company, I would really struggle with any requests for female characters that I feel are extremely exploitative. Not because I don't want the public to get upset, but because I personally disagree with it.

Man, @Beamish, I sure hope you're going to the show this year. I'll need some help. I'm NOT going to be spending a lot of time in Hasbro's booth, not in it's current configuration. It's worse than the Black Hole of Calcutta.

Anybody that doesn't believe me is welcome to try it.
