Convention Questions for the Legends Team...

In honor of Marvel Comics move to Burbank, can we complete the West Coast Avengers with Jim Hammond, Firebird and Living Lightning? We'll gladly take black singlet Thing, occasional guest star Shroud and villainous Graviton and Master Pandemonium as well.
You've actually got the perfect ingredients for a wave here: Original Human Torch (finally): popular FF member, The Thing, who's also in the WCA: missing Avenger Living Lightning, also a Latino superhero: missing Avenger, WCA, and another Ranger Firebird: cool almost Avenger and Spider-Man ally The Shroud: fairly major villain Graviton: cool visual WCA foe with interchangeable demon arms, Master Pandemonium. Make it a BAF wave with Satannish or the Kree Supreme Intelligence (Galactic Storm) as the BAF. If you want to go obscure with the BAF, there's always Yetrigar (they did do Titus after all). We're doing your work for you Hasbro.

Wasn't Mantis connected to the team, as well, in the 80s?

Between SDCC, TRU and Amazon many "team" box sets with 5 or 6 related figures were produced, could this concept be revisited for the MTO model?

And, given that the MTO model is made to past some of the manufacturing costs on to the consumer, might we see more elaborate teams attempted? With the TRU and Amazon exclusives especially, the goal always seemed to be "how do we make these as cost-effective for the partner retailer as possible," hence teams like the WCA and Alpha Flight.

... this feels like the perfect way to get out fan-demanded characters like remaining Avengers, Serpent Society, Shi'Ar Imperial Guard that the team knows fans want, but are gunshy about sinking money into for mass retail.

Edit: I know the Avengers suggestion is gonna be controversial, keep your pitchforks where I can see them. But c'mon ... limited run might be the best way to talk them into Doctor Druid or Gilgamesh at this point in time.

MTO is probably the only way we're ever going to see and get more Asgardian characters. *sigh*
I don't see any reason to believe that. It's not like 100% of Marvel Legends is Spider-Man and Captain America on the same two bodies over and over. ML -does- do all kinds of new and unique stuff all the time.

Respectfully, I'll believe it when I see it. I'd love to be proven wrong.
You are seeing it.

So far just -this- year they've got all those unique sculpt Rivals figures. They're doing Hulk 2099. The Medusa and Gorgon two-pack.
They made fucking Hypno-Hustler. As well as other whocares characters like Phantom Rider, Warbow, Starfox and Champion...

Not to mention we still get BAFs and then the inevitable BAF re-issue on card, like Strong Guy or Nimrod (I know he wasn't technically a BAF, but you get the point).

I don't see where the doom-and-gloom comes from with some ML collectors that they never do new sculpts or sub-B-tier characters. They constantly do. Different themes will ebb-and-flow (we've had Thor-heavier years, for instance, during his movie years) and X-Men and Spider-Man will always be the meat and potatoes of Marvel Legends for obvious reasons. But ML cranks out new characters and new sculpts pretty much constantly? And there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind thinking THIS character or THAT character won't get done. If Hypno-Hustler can get made..... who can't?

Odin wasn't an MTO. I can't think of many Thor-adjacents that would, then, NEED to be an MTO to get made. Thor's cast just isn't very popular so, barring a movie year, I doubt we're going to see a huge focus on that where we get a bunch of Thor-adjacents all at once. I could see the Warriors Three at Amazon, just because Amazon seems to like taking on weird Legends multi-packs.

So, this isn't an argument that I'm going to be able to "win", so I'm not going to bother. I feel how I feel, and that's just how it is, as unreasonable as that may seem.

I fully grant you that they have made some deep cuts that are appreciated. But when Dwight specifically called out the difficulty in making the characters in which I'm most interested, it tainted my excitement and enthusiasm. But that doesn't mean I'm not excited about a lot of the figures we had gotten recently. The Inhumans example is always the one that potentially puts my argument to rest most easily.

So...yeah. *shrugs*

I'm not trying to diminish your frustration.

You are currently talking to a guy who ranks Shatterstar and Kylun as two of his favorite X-characters. It took two companies and 15 years to get ONE of those characters in Marvel Legends and it's not even all that good of a figure. If anyone gets you, I do.

So the above wasn't me trying to win an argument so much as impart some hope. That's all. I'm going to keep hoping for Shatterstar v2 and Kylun, and you can't stop me.

I appreciate it, and ultimately you're right. I just need to stop letting my frustration get to me.

As for Kylun, I'm right there with you. I would 100% pick him up to add to Excalibur if they made him. I always liked him, too.
