Mattel DC Figures

1000%

I want a new Adam Strange, Animal Man, OMAC, Kamandi, Forager, Guardian, Mantis, etc. et al. Plus everything they didn’t do like Mera, Chief, Forever People, Dolphin, Bluebird, Claw, Warlord and…you get the idea. No fillers. Start from zero.

Action figure Field of Dreams. 😁

DOLPHIN!!

Man, my irrational Forgotten Heroes fondness is so in for this.

I also feel like Adam Strange is a big enough character that they'll get to him eventually. I actually just caved and bought the DCD figure today ... good enough for now. Plus the headsculpt looks like Bowie.

I personally would love another 6 months of arguing here with strangers about what the line should be!
Ideally, this line will be what Marvel Legends became in 2012 after taking 2011 off to reassess, retool, and rejuvenate. I don’t think anyone can argue that there wasn’t a vast difference (and an improvement) from 2010 to 2012. Even characters like Deathlok have been redone. So there’s no real excuse for not redoing everything*. Especially after seven years. Hasbro just took one year off of Legends. The last thirteen years have worked out pretty well.

*I do mean everything: do you remember the last time we got Zauriel? It was Hasbro 5”scale and five POA. I want this line to be completely unfettered in terms of character selection. Particularly where the comics are concerned.

Gonna try to stop ranting on this thread. But I’m passionate about it too. I’ve had a lot of fun over the last six months buying up Marvel Legends. But I far and away would’ve preferred it be DC figures I was buying.

One of the first comics I ever read as a little kid was in a barber shop that had some comics to read. One of them was an old Rip Hunter, Time Master comic. Would absolutely pick him up if they did him or the other Forgotten Heroes. I think Congorilla/Congo Bill was in this group too. DC has no shortage of gorilla characters, they actually could get reuse out of a gorilla figure: Solovar, Monsieur Mallah, obviously Grodd.

Mallah would of course come with his husband, Brain.

He was! The team would make a great boxset. Lots of tooling efficient characters:

Hard agree that a gorilla mold would get mileage: Grodd, Ultrahumanite, Mallah, Gorilla Boss, Mod Gorilla Boss (yep, separate character -- fought Animal Man), Bat-Ape, the Beast Bomb (great call @Niko (protozoalord), cast it in green for a Beast Boy variant.

You forgot the bestest Gorilla…Ultra Humanite. 🤪😜

Top ten DC villain! Cemented by his appearance in the DCAU Justice League Christmas episode (mayyyyybe my favorite Christmas special ever).

Is it too much to ask for a proper Night Master, Shining Knight, Silent Knight, and Viking Prince?

If you're asking me, hell no. They'd be high on the list.

If you're asking Mattel, then you'll get vague non-answer at best.

Frustrating, I know.

Also.

You left someone out.

Or an actual good Question figure, maybe?

Right there with ya.

All the old Charlton characters ... Thunderbolt, Sarge Steel, Son of Vulcan, Captain Atom, Blue Beetle, Nightshade ...

I don't think this is a successor to DCUC at all and I don't think they're thinking of it that way. The likelihood based on what we're seeing now is completely different articulation and sculpting styles. Considering a decade+ old toyline when determining character selection here seems nuts. No superhero line has ever had a problem getting people to re-buy characters.
Totally agree, but there is some cachet in releasing a character that has never been done in this scale range before. Even McFarlane would hype up the “rookie card “ aspect of some of his releases. They can throw a bone to long-term collectors while still treating this as the brand new line it is.

If I were Mattel, I'd open with full standard sized bodies with looser cloth, chainmail, and the traditional superhero tights. And like one or two boot and glove styles. With just that you, cover like 99% of classic characters, excluding heads and more unique design elements that some characters like Batman may have, for example.
