G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

I still have to get two because, I think it was Ace that showed him with two claws. That's gotta happen.

Do they retro card this later with clear chest flaps?

I showed my sister this character and Scarlett, and she said she could hear the Nickelodeon in the colour scheme.

The youth today will never know.

Who was it, @Chooch555 ? Someone said it's deflating or something knowing pretty much everything for the rest of the year outside of one target exclusive and one walmart exclusive, and yeah... I feel the same. I want only two upcoming things but hoping those exclusives are irresistible. I yearn for another leak list!

Yeah, it's similar for Transformers. Seems like they're now doing 3 main release waves a year whereas in the past it was 4. So now we know the year before SDCC outside of one-offs and exclusives. It's not a terrible thing to have fewer waves on the wallet I guess, but with Joe it seems to have been replaced with exclusives.

Overkill arrived. One my top wants, the original was one of many divorce rewards my mother bestowed upon me weekly, and he was my go to Joe killer after I discovered the magic of eyeglass screwdrivers and removed his talkie backpack.

The colour scheme. The robot head. The see through chest with the flip out gun. The claw and gun hands. So cool.

My initial ten minute impression is a let down.

Who the hell made the call on that mask? In what world is it even designed to stay in on paper. There's no tension. No interlock. Nothing. It's held on by prayer and a Mary Magdalene candle.

Machine gun in the chest was crooked, and also impossibly tight to flip. Thought I'd break it on the first deploy. I did a quick heat treatment to uncrook the gun barrels, which worked, but now the machine gun has no friction at all and dangles down. The fix is on me, but even out of the box it was below par.

At first I thought I would want to because my neurodivergence would never allow me to glue or putty the mask on, I would have to have one that I could permanently glue and another unadorned. It's not a fun problem. But now I need a second anyway just to see if the machine gun also sucks on that. I'll try the usual joint tightening fixes regardless.

It's all addressable. This isn't like the worst figure in the world. But for one of my favourites, blarg.

And this is also the second true disappointment I've ever had with them at all, the first being my Zanya's both breaking at the same arm. But that figure looked good. That was just a breakage. Overkill is the first I've ever looked sideways at their execution.

Especially coming off of Scarlett and Dawn last week.

I'm not mad, Hasbro. I'm disappointed.

Yeah the mask doesn’t stay on well. But poster gum is a non-permanent fix for that. My chest machine gun worked fine, so hopefully your second will as well.

But I bought a second Overkill, too. It’s fun to get a backup of your favorites.

Overkill is one of my favorites in the line now. Probably one of my favorites in my whole collection actually. He works as a Joe villain and is so colorful and comic booky that he works as a Marvel villain. Imagine Overkill vs War Machine—that’s a fun fight! (Need to imagine Overkill’s armor is upgraded a fair amount, but still).

Re: Overkill’s crooked chest guns;
I was able to straighten them by applying heat from a hair dryer and just letting them reset on their own to their natural straight state.

You know I keep looking at pics of that new Duke, and I really kind of love it. Its funny how sometime something thats pretty basic, but done well, can really win me over.

I wonder if stuff like a "rugged" Snake Eyes or Scarlet or whatever is in the cards....

Yeah I'm kind of happy about less product every year going forward.

Between the price increases (can't wait to see what happens in September) and trying to keep up as a near completist for Classified, while still collecting bits of other lines, a little less every year is a good thing. I would only really worry if they really cut back (say 50% of now). That would be a worrying sign that the line may be winding down.

The good thing is between Kirkman's media (comics and possible animation) and McBride's movie there is going to be a strong base in the coming years. Can Hasbro keep up?
