Big Bad Workshop General

Agreed. And having a futuristic-80s just feels like a great way to cheat against any military ickiness.

That should be part 1, with Disavowed as the conclusion.

Every so often I'll go back and work on my fan script that has the Joes start as an armored unit (the 118th, natch) training the Tunisian army on the tanks and shit the US just sold them. That way all the vehicles can be old school 80s surplus stuff.

Of course the whole thing serves as a cover for recon into neighboring Libya to investigate a suspicious, "drome" shaped missile silo and the terror group funding it.

I'm pretty proud of it, but likely will never finish it.

And then those terrorists hire local Libyan mercenaries to track down the scientist that they hired to build them a plutonium bomb, but instead he's using it for his crazy idea for a time machine!

I think the last time Space Zombies from Mars came up it was in this thread, so I'll mention a surprise appearance at JoeFest and a new Kickstarter coming.

We've got a dedicated Space Zombies thread

They only showed off the white, green, blue, and orange suits at the show. I hope the red one isn't scrapped. That was the only one I wanted.

These Hama figures look nice enough, but damn if I don't like a single name for any of the characters
I get that but most of them are the original codenames he had before the concept became GI Joe. Brujo is my favorite, but come on, Hog Man? Haut!

Hey wasn't there a character from this studio in the Monster Force line where a character had an alternate head that was just H.P. Lovecraft? Did I imagine that?

There was and than it was moved to being a bonus for the all in preorder of wave 3 part 1

I'm still grumpy about that.

It was originally part of the Ambassador of R'lyeh, but was clearly said at the time to be "in progress" so I can't honestly be mad that it wasn't in the final box.

I suspect it'll roll back around if their Raven Society ever gets off the ground.

We were indeed.
Or, at least, agreeing that a retro-futuristic 1980s is where Joe as it exists in the official lore best lives.
IIRC the conversation about how a ra-ra-GO-JOE vibe doesn't work in modern America so we'd need an alternate-timeline-retro-80s setting for GI Joe to work because actual fucking hope/optimism could exist there was what inspired me to start writing the cards in the first place, I think. And like 167 cards later I'm glad it did.

The thing I like about the new Hama figures (which Ru and I already talked about) is they save me from hand-building a Tommy Arashikage Vietnam soldier figure on my own. I already made Wade Collins but I'm open to an upgrade on that.

Also the funny thing about the file cards project is it feels less relevant to try to make up my own characters to exist there - it's more thematic to reimagine the OG characters in a world that doesn't suck as much as ours does.
