Wrestling Toys (Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, etc.)

I left a mildly terse and indignant comment for Nerdzoic.com today. Out of all their shipping options, I chose UPS, thinking it was your typical UPS Ground, like it always has been. Instead I got UPS Surepost. What usually takes one day, is now three. I was wondering why Roxanne wasn't out for delivery. Might as well turn off the red light.
Those days are over man!

I'm HEAVILY thinning my wrestling figure collection this weekend, and am only keeping figures of:

Undertaker
CM Punk
SC Steve Austin
Kane
Razor Ramon/Scott Hall
Diesel/Kevin Nash
nWo Hogan (only one I'm keeping)
1,2,3 Kid/X-Pac
2 versions of Rock
Mick Foley's alts
The majority of the female superstars I have (except Rousey, she's in the sales bin)
then tag teams: The Usos (face Samoan look & Bloodline version), Road Warriors, Demolition, The New Day, Pretty Deadly, The Nasty Boys, The Good Brothers, and maybe 1 or 2 more.

That still leaves over 80 figures I'm looking to get rid of.
I may look for newer updated versions of DX, since I do have an in scale army jeep that they'd look good displayed with.

My plan is to have a shelf dedicated to the tag teams, and then group the others depending on how many versions I have.

Holy shit, Salem. That seems like it's gonna be a big purge.

Salem is keeping a group of tag teams. Some of my most wanted figures not yet a Mattel are primarily tag team, like the Midnight Express and Rock n Roll Express. Also Dynamite Kid, despite the shitty behavior.

Yup.

I also have 2 of the playsets (backstage brawl and locker room) and 2 of the early Elite/Authentic scale rings) the VERY first RAW ring and the Target Elite scale classic cage ring) that I'll be trying to sell.

I'd love to keep one of the rings, but I don't have the space for them, because they deserve to be out.

I AM keeping 2 of the entrances I have though.

and this one with custom designed and printed entrance graphics for a few wrestlers

Yeah, if I never see you post pics of those entrances again, I'd be pretty sad. So, because my happiness is all that actually matters, you obviously have to keep those.

I wish I could afford the money and space to have a really robust wrestling collection. But it just doesn't make sense for me. I keep thinking about creating a 'ring shelf' -- so just a regular shelf, but I'd put ring-ropes across the front of the shelf so it looks like the characters are standing in a ring. That might trick my brain just enough and make me happy. I do miss having a big ass Elite-scale ring and tons of figures sometimes, though.

I dig that idea. OOH. Wait - you could do a kind of depth-of-field trick, where you could do a figure riser in the back painted like the entrance stage? I don't know how deep your shelves are, but if you have the room on one, you'd get to display more figures and with the ring ropes it'd be like the view from the front row at an event.

Another possibility might be those WrestleMania ring carts Mattel put out with Macho Man and Andre? I've got a couple wrestling shelves, but I also have a small display on my dresser with ring carts for Asuka, Iyo, and Kairi. (Because to be honest sometimes I need that level of support to meet the day. ) So if you're at the point where you just want to have a few favorites out there somewhere, the carts give it some fanfare.

Why are the Iiconics not worthy of your named tag team list.
EXCELLENT question.

That could be really cool. It's something to think about for sure. I actually don't have set shelves for this idea. Right now I only have a limited amount of stuff on display and I'm doing a lot of mental back-and-forth on how to move forward between display space allocation and not having anything seem cluttered.

Not a big fan of the ring carts, myself. They don't really give the illusion of standing in a ring. I see what they were going for, but my eyes hate it.

I'm honestly not sure if I have them both or not. The female figures have always been hard to find in store no matter where I've lived, and I'm not paying inflated online prices for figures, so I go without in most cases.

I think the Iiconics were from the period when Mattel was sticking an exclusive figure in specific cases for Walmart or Target. It may have been something contrived, like, even numbered waves were Walmart and odd numbered waves were Target.

Yeah, I lucked into a set at a Toronto toy show.

So... I long ago purged most of my wrestling figures but I still buy the occasional figure that fits well with my fantasy displays and what not. In that vein I recently opened The Sultan figure I bought awhile ago. I was curious to see if I might find another one sobI searched Amazon - found nothing, but did come across figures of Penta... and I did not know I needed that in my life. I would honestly take the red elite costume or the black/white Defining Moments costume. But man they aren't cheap now.

Amazon used to be a good place to find some WWE deals, sometimes at 50%, not so much anymore.

Thinking the market dropped out, I was going to ask if you've seen AEW Penta with the medieval looking gloves, but it's mostly going for $50 new and around $30 loose on eBay. He was once a clearance find for $8 at Walmart.

You'd think the market was hot (maybe it is online), but I brought over 100 wrestling figures/items between WWE and AEW to the toy show this past weekend, and I sold 22 items (a bag of basic figures and a Smackdown ring apron & ropes included).

Now maybe that's because they were in a tub and not spread out across some tables, but I thought they'd do better since quite a few were figures from the first few years of the WWE line, and haven't had updates to my knowledge.
