I always appreciate Jim Wright's perspective. He must need to drink himself to sleep some nights with how well he predicts terrible things happening.

I keep seeing folks try to compare Elon to various fictional characters and I get it, we need cultural touchstones to process this mess, but I can't help thinking - we really need to just address the fact that he's always been an evil little shit, he's just gotten more and more overt and unhinged about it, and now his mask is fully off. We gotta stare the con he pulled on the world in the face same as Trump. I swear this falling out is just because they are both psychopathic, egotistical narcissist con artists and no matter who wins, we all lose. I hope they destroy each other, but I can't enjoy it, because we'll be the ones dealing with the wreckage. When two kaiju fight, they still level the city they're stomping on. The blood of children is squished into Godzilla's ass when he falls down, and the same goes for Musk and Trump.

Future generations will not compare Elon or Trump to characters from literature or film - they will be the archetype used as the baseline for future bastards. I know the Nazi thing is tired, but the harm they've each done, they'll be Hitler in fifty years when people need a comp for someone who caused untold harm very rapidly and irreparably to a nation.
 
Oh yeah. I'm hoping for mutual assured destruction. I just wish we lived in a world that was smart enough to not let the human billionaire kaiju hatch in the first place, but that's a fictional reality that will never exist.
 
Is it on the news anywhere about what's going on in Los Angeles with ICE and now the national guard being deployed?

I was just asking my friends who are NOT news addicts like myself if they are hearing anything about it, because apparently Hesgeth is threatening to send in Marines to Los Angeles to quell a peaceful unarmed protest, so we could learn in the next few days if American troops will, if ordered, move upon American citizens, at which point we're utterly cooked as a nation.

The fact that neither the LAPD nor Sheriff's Department would step in to help ICE was a good sign but things are about to get absolutely fucked.
 
I just saw that too, about Hegseth and the marines. Some really outrageous bullshit, at the most basic level, but beyond that is obviously a lot more. But yeah, the footage I'm seeing of the protests then the ICE response to it is just unbelievable.
 
I’m in LA. Fortunately not near anything. Yet.

We’re pretty much hunkered down. We’ll see how things develop overnight.
 
Did I know you were over here?! I'm a city over from one of the places, but one of my best friends is in that city. She says they aren't too close to it but still.
 
My niece is ten miles away from that particular Home Depot and my main worry is she doesn't have the survival skills if things go south for her to keep herself out of trouble. Love her to death, absolute airhead when it comes to wrong place wrong time stuff.

Thank you! And no, definitely not... I admit I've never been to a rave even when I was in my prime! But yeah, I am not at all excited for the next while. And looking at Classified figures isn't helping.
 
We knew this would eventually happen during Trump's second term. It's a pivotal time for Trump and the United States.

I remain cautiously optimistic that troops, the National Guard, whomever, will not fire on U.S. citizens. If they do, I think that's the end of Donald Trump's presidency.
