McFarlane DC Multiverse

Animated, Nolan films, and that Bushido-looking one with the gas mask are all I can think of. Classic makes sense, as would yellow lanterns, but we don't even have Larfleeze, the Sapphires, or much of a Blue Lantern corps to speak of so maybe it'll never come.

What is the only other Scarcrow we’ve ever gotten in the main DCMultiverse line? Was that the suit from the Peter J. Tomasi and the Jorge Martinez run?

Ah, my friend, what can of worms you've opened up by asking me about Scarecrow. 🤪

In terms of comic Scarecrows? There's been the Jorge Jimenez Fear State Scarecrow (as well as a blacklight version) and the Last Knight on Earth spooky torso Scarecrow. Non-comic, we've also gotten the 2 Nolan Scarecrows (plus a Jokerized version), 2 paint schemes of the Arkham Knight Scarecrow and the BTAS and TNBA Scarecrows (but those were re-issues from DC Direct). Todd's definitely given Scarecrow more love than a lot of others (totally fine by me- he's my fav).

In terms of what "classic" Scarecrow could be, there's a couple different versions. His first appearance look, or his Silver Age look, which had a bit more definition/skull-like look to the face. Though his look in the 80's, where they really started to make him more gangly and angular, is what many think of- sort of around the Knightfall era. No Man's Land is another classic look, as is the figure he got in the original Mattel Batman/DC Superheroes line. For most "classic" Scarecrow just means long, skinny limbs, the hat, maybe some rope here and there, straw hair or no straw hair, scythe or no scythe. He's had so many looks and so many little changes throughout the years that it's hard to pinpoint just 1 "classic" look. Though I do think if Todd was gonna go with one tied to a storyline, like Knightfall or No Man's Land, it would've said in the leak, so it'll probably be something closer to the Golden/Silver/Bronze age look

I'm still so bummed, and honestly kinda surprised, that Todd never went harder on the Lanterns. Either the other leaders like Saint Walker, Larfleeze, etc., or any of the deputies (obviously I'd have wanted Yellow Lantern Scarecrow). Not only is there practically endless possibility for reuse on just about everything other than the heads and hands, but all those freaky, cool designs are totally up Todd's alley, Yellow, Red, and Black especially.

I'm hoping he somehow manages to make the other leaders before the license expires. Boxset or something. Just get them out.

I’m hoping I can match skintones for a different head on that Superman. Perfect body, perfect suit coloring, perfect S-shield . . . and a face that looks like he’s passing a kidney stone or participating in bukkake.

I prefer not to have either of those images in my head while eating a sub sandwich but what’s done is done I guess…

So after 24 hours to digest the DC Multiverse leaks, there’s some great stuff there. But fairly concentrated on JSA and Batman. Not complaining, but I was kinda hoping for the wide spread of reveals similar to what we saw at WonderCon. We are seven weeks away from SDCC which isn’t usually an event where Todd shows off a lot of DC stuff. At least not compared to NYCC and WonderCon.

Clearly we will get some new reveals at SDCC. And Todd has proven he can hide stuff if he wants. No one saw Metron, Merlyn or Darkstar coming. Question is, what do we see? We’re on the clock now. Finish the JSA? Yes please. Key females? Yes please. More Superman and Batman rogues? Yes please. But Todd’s gonna wanna go out on a high note. Anyone else think we see at least one Absolute character at SDCC? Todd says there’s a long runway. But we’re on approach now. Let’s not belly land this beast.

I kept wondering where people were getting Metron, but then I went back to the list from WonderCon and sure enough there he was.

From that list of the figures we haven't yet seen I think I'm most excited about classic Deathstroke, Mr Bones and Monarch. I might be down for Metron depending on execution. Oh and bronze age Beast Boy... thats a fairly high number for me.

I’m really hoping we get a Black Canary and a Stargirl and S.T.R.I.P.E. set to round out the JSA/All Star Squad crew. And I’m still hoping we get a blue and grey variant of the Breyfogle Batman before McFarlane wraps everything up with this license

EDIT: I forgot to mention these characters but who could forget our favorite propaganda heroes from the 1940’s , Uncle Sam, Miss America and Liberty Belle? I think they deserve a spot as well, esoteric as they may be

By my tracking count, there were eight figures revealed at WonderCon that weren’t leaked or rumored anywhere that I’m aware of.

Knightfall Azrael
Merlyn
Kite Man
Metron
Darkstar
Beast Boy
Mirror Master
Classic Deathstroke

Apparently, Todd can sneak stuff past us.

I also wonder if Beast Boy is a Doom Patrol outlier?

I've got four DC figures that should be here tomorrow and I'm excited.
McFarlane Superman movie, the one with Krypro
Mafex Superboy
Kenner Batman Forever Riddler and Two Face two pack (from eBay)

.....and a GI Joe Cold Slither Zartan.

I'll be stalking my front window all day looking for that mail man.

I really can't believe how obsessed I have been with the SA Superman. I just have not stopped playing with him pretty much since I got him a couple weeks ago. He is just so spot on with how I see Superman from my childhood comics reading of the 70's and 80's. Ironically Superman wasn't even in my top 5 favorites of superhero comics as a kid until after the '78 Superman movie. Sometimes a great representation of character in action figure form or TV/Movie can make me love a character more and want to read more or see more of them in media. Really can't wait for July 11th to get here and see DC Studios Superman. I have a lot of high hopes for it.
