Tracking toy tariffs

I suspect they know. They're counting on their voters being fucking idiots. It's all performative.
Yeah, they know. And we've had it proven over and over. Remember that book by Bob Woodward where there were interviews conducted behind the scenes during the height of COVID where Trump laid out he knew how bad it could be and at the same time he was going on air telling everyone it was like a cold.

They always know. The ignorance is 100% performative. It's a way to further bullshit information-siloed voters whose primary investment in politics is team loyalty. It's not even worth it to show the hypocrisy because it's clear their voters simply memory hole every time they've been shown to be hypocrites. Hell, every time they've openly admitted it (which they've also done).

It's what's so galling about the whole deal. These dudes aren't puppet masters or evil geniuses. They are obvious grifters who barely even attempt to hide it.

A friend sent me that Twitter link about bananas the other day. One of the replies was something along the lines of "We can so grow bananas in the US, I have a banana tree in my Florida backyard!".

Cool, you got enough space to grow the ~27 lbs of bananas consumed per person in the US each year?

The other day, I swear to the gods, I saw some dude on Twitter argue that people should just buy American made toys like GI Joe.

It's about impoverishing the nation so they can exploit cheap labor again. There's no other plausible explanation.
Correct.
I don't understand how Repub voters, beyond just being insanely uneducated, can't see it. This is the same party that wants child marriage and to end/limit child labour laws. They just want you to be a disposable servant class with virtually no rights and the quality of life roughly equivalent to an abused, neglected gerbil in a rusty cage.

To your point about hypocrisy - many Republican members of the House, and the president himself, were admitting openly that they were vaccinated while telling you NOT to get vaccinated and how you didn't need to. And they were doing it at the same time as telling you that grandma might have to die of Covid so the economy can be strong. Fucking Republicans need to have surgery to add a second mouth to their bodies because they need to be able to speak out of all four sides at once.

"I didn't think the leopards would eat my face!"

"I didn't think the leopards would eat my face!"
Yeah, that's part of it for sure. But the 'leopards' thing suggests the person knows what is happening and just doesn't think it will happen to them. But in a lot of cases, Republican voters really seem completely mystified anytime anything happens because they don't actually seem to know anything about what their politicians are doing.

Like, I don't know how you can listen to someone say three CONFLICTING statements in one presser and walk away like 'yup, makes total sense to me.' You have to be so deeply stupid or so deeply invested in the cult that you can just turn your brain off and not even think about what is being said to you because you're too busy cheerleader at top volume that you haven't actually heard anything - and more importantly don't WANT to hear anything.

Bold of you to assume they are watching pressers. Most of the Trumpers I know (and I know MANY) don't even follow the news aside from things that pop up on their social media.

True. But I don't get that either. People are tripping over themselves to take a bullet for these goons but aren't even interested in listening to any of them talk for more than the length of a TikTok video.

It's probably time to just admit that the Republicans won. Taking three decades to systematically destroy the public education system and use Christianity as a tool to create entire generations of credulous lunatics worked. Now the 'Christian' party doesn't even have to hide their corruption and obvious lies because their entire base is too fucking dumb to know what's going on anyway.

I wish I had that ability. Also, knowing him the way I do, I am deeply curious if he would have the same faith if she gets replaced by someone he finds unattractive.
Wellll, did he say the same thing about Sloth from the Goonies distant cousin, Sarah Huckabee Sanders? when she was press secretary first term?

They pin a badge of honor to the idea of being ignorant, I think. Also I feel that deep down some of them worry that if they pay too much attention they will see that the people have been trying to convince them all along that the Republicans don't have their best interest at heart could be right.

But I agree. I used to think the younger generation would save us as some of the right-leaning boomers start to die off but I think thanks to social media brainwashing that the current generation becoming old enough to vote are going to be even worse.

The weird thing is he kinda slept through the first term. During the race last year,he'd say all this bullshit about Trump and I had to keep explaining we knew it wasn't true because of what he did the first time. He is eight years behind everyone else.

But I would be SHOCKED if he followed huckabee sanders with anywhere near as much devotion. I would have to lean against a doorway and collect myself for several minutes.
