Wrestling Toys (Mattel WWE, Jazwares AEW, etc.)

AEW's five figures per case for a six figure wave can be frustrating. Walmart had a non-Willow case this morning. This one had a 1 of 5,000 Cope.

I fucking hate the Jakks-holdover "1 of X" bullshit. Chases, 1-per-every-500-cases, etc etc. It's a terrible idea that literally only is good for scalpers - which is exactly the demographic that companies making wrestling figures seem to delight in catering to.

I've just finished watching all the old In Your House events and I'm now starting at the beginning re-watching the '90s Monday Night RAW episodes. This has been really, really testing my 'I don't collect wrestling figures anymore' position.

I'm in Ollie's today looking for the Mattel Creations M$M/Steamboat set and there was a little kid with his mother also looking for WWE. She points out the only things they have, Superstars Ric Flair and some kind of WWE dice game. The kid was getting slightly whiny, but still well behaved, and then he says, "My stomach is growling". I was thinking, this kid practically sounds like me.

I don’t really get the logic of that. Consumers generally don’t even have an easy option to buy cases, and it’s not like Walmart or Target care.

Both companies almost force you to buy online if you want to ensure certain figures. Some recent examples that aren't considered chase figures: AEW has "A" and "B" cases where one figure is left out, for example Skye Blue or Jay White are swapped out for each other. WWE seems to be leaving Brian Pillman out of Walmart cases for an extra AJ Styles. I'm pretty sure Amazon hasn't listed Naomi or Nia from the last two Elite waves. About a month ago a Walmart employee opened a case of basic figures for me. The two figures figures I would've bought were not in the case (Lyra & Sid).

Isn’t there also the ringside collectibles (or some site like that) thing? Which seems to be lots of unique items

I’m a big wwe fan (went to mania this year, etc) but I don’t collect the figures generally. I would if I found one that was just right, but usually there’s things I don’t like about them

Ringside tends to get everything, but if you live outside of America, they just f*** you up the ass with their shipping so there's no reason to even look at them. And the last time I did order something from them, whatever international plan they are on just stockpiles everything until they have a pallet ready to go and then they bounce it to Copenhagen and then back.

How about the toy companies just make their product available so I can give them the money that I want to give them.

I buy from Ringside, but I'm an extreme cherry picker. I have to really really want the figure to pay for their price mark-up + shipping, so the per figure price looks kind of ugly because I usually buy only one, maybe two figures from a wave. I was looking at recent releases. They have a basic Alundra Blaze in a damaged package for $28.99. That's a $10 or $11 USD figure at retail. Shipping is around $10. How can I justify nearly $40 for a basic figure? Other people are doing it, her non-damage packaging is sold out.

RSC has an exclusive series of re-releases called "From the Vault". They have a variant of a referee in Smackdown blue. The original was a baf in black/white stripes. The Smackdown ref is $44.99 versus $28.99 for the non variant. Sure, I'd like a Smackdown ref, but not at $50+.

I have nothing but loathing for Ringside. Scalpers that managed a direct line to a toy company and a professional(ish) website. That's it. If these guys didn't have Mattel's phone number, they'd be at Walmart every morning pushing kids over to get to the newest figures. I swear I remember one or two of them even lamenting JAKKS losing the license because of how much JAKKS respected figure rarity, or some shit.

Their shipping prices are trash. Their figure prices are trash. They just unapologetically take advantage of the collecting community and I wish nothing but bad things for all of them.

A lot of new wrestling product was revealed today for WWE Mattel. But the thing I was most excited about was Wave 7 of the Knuckle Crunchers. Which includes LA Knight with US Title, CM Punk, Dirty Dom, and Stone Cold.

I love Knuckle Crunchers. They are so much fun. Does anyone else on here get them?

I had the Ultimate Stone Cold and "Can't See Me" Cena preordered at Walmart when they first went up months ago, but they put out a cardboard shipper at my store on Tuesday that had them both, so I grabbed them.

I also grabbed an elite Rhea with the AUS flag on her vest and the Ultimate Senor MITB Damian Priest.

I then cancelled the preorders on Walmart.

I went to four Walmarts this morning looking for the shipper. One store had a display and another had most of the figures in the aisle. Both stores only had Hogan from MNW, but I was able to find the two latest Superstars waves between those two stores. I was happy to get them, but I would rather buy a wave at a time instead of spending $150 all at once (3 and 4 figures waves).

@SalemCrow are you seeing an old Royal Rumble wave with Beth Phoenix? She was at two Walmarts and one store had RR Brock with a white price tag at $43.99 and it actually scanned at that price. Strange how those old figures appeared at two stores.

Yeah, the "build a Virgil" wave with the blue mohawk Beth was in the shipper as well. Beth was gone, or I likely would have grabbed her as well.

I found the shipper at my local Wal-Mart today. They had a bunch of the WWE Superstars figures but were already out of the one I wanted, which was Bret Hart. But tons of Elites and Ultimate Editions.

You're talking about the MOTU-style figures, right? The Bret Hart wave is still shipping? I thought that was LONG gone. Maybe there's a chance for me to have a Bret Hart yet.

Haven't seen a new WWE item locally, at any store, for months. Same stuff every time.
