Masters of the Universe: Masterverse

It's nice to see Wun-Dar. He looks cool, and I love the extra, alternate Cosmic Enforcer head. I can't wait to see Evil Lyn. I'll definitely get those even though Wal-Mart will likely cancel my pre orders.

I wish I could just not buy anymore Masterverse like Damien, but not seeing a MOTU collection through once started is just impossible for me. Even though Chronicles is vastly better.

I also hope a day comes when I can stop buying MOTU. Don't get me wrong, it's my favorite property and toys, but I have basically all the figures ever from all eras. i wasn't going to collect another MOTU line after Masterverse and Origins ended. They were my jumping off point.

But now I'm tits deep in Chronicles and Kids Core.

So now Origins, Masterverse, Kids Core, and Chronicles are my cut off. When those end, I'm done.

Which probably won't be true.

Like you - I've said this before. I said it with MOTUC. I said that was the best we'd ever get and I was going to just live with that forever as my MOTU collection. Then Origins. And Masterverse. Well, those were such different lines and I'd already gotten rid of most of my MOTUC figures for various reasons, so why not. Collect two more MOTU lines. But definitely that was going to be it. Never again. Now I've gotten rid of almost all of my Masterverse figures for various reasons and I'm starting over again with Chronicles.
MOTU seems to be the one property that can make me continue this ridiculous cycle.
 
My local Walmart got a crap ton of vintage Mer-Man in all of a sudden. Picked one up and cancelled my pre-order. They also stocked a crap ton of Chronicles Skeletor and Trap Jaw sometime this past week.
 
I really hope my Wal-Mart does the same. Or any Wal-Mart near me. But that Mer-Man will have to go through a sea of Zodac's, Stratos, and Fakers to get to the shelves. Even being the Lord and Master of the seas, I don't know if Vintage Mer-Man can overcome this struggle in my area.

Against most odds, vintage Merman actually showed up. I saw he was in stock to PO after my cancellation, so I ordered a couple weeks ago. Got notice that he was getting ready to ship, so make sure the payment works. Got notice that he shipped from NV, so that could take a while. He showed up today. I didn’t give the play by play because I knew I would jinx it. But here we are.

They added some copper paint to his armor that I don’t remember from the original figure. The corn sword looks more like bone, which I appreciate. He comes with a trident, which is also new. Open left claw hand and right fist finish off the accessories.

Sculpt wise, he uses the puffy upper torso all of these vintage tributes use. The face is identical to what I remember of the toy, but has a detail I may not have originally noticed… the back of the head looks like sculpted hair. This looks totally like it was always a part of the sculpt but at the same time a total surprise. I gotta dig out my original to compare (which is in fairly good condition because was one I rarely played with). Aside from what feels like a fused right bicep swivel and right ankle hinge, he looks perfect.
 
Mmm, still waiting for my second-wave, post-cancellation Mer-man to ship. Not even “preparing”, although it does have an “about to ship, check your address” notice on top and I got a weirdly aggressive “MAKE SURE YOUR CARD HAS MONEY OR WE CANCEL” notice I’ve never gotten from Walmart before.
 
I’ve gotten that notice a few times. My CC has always been up to date. I’ve been getting similar emails from Pulse, but those are after a failure attempt. I recently got a newer version of the same CC (original number, new expiration) that seems to only update on a case by case basis. I do appreciate the heads up because I’d rather not lose my POs.

I can’t wait for Beast Man. I hope my PO doesn’t fall through.

If this line doesn’t dissolve, I still very much want Tri-Klops, Ram Man, Evil Lyn, Trap Jaw, and maybe Man E Faces to round out the first two waves. But that’s IT! Going beyond that just makes a whole other collection beyond every other MotU collection I’ve caved on! Enough!
 
There’s still Wundar that’s coming or at least announced. Wasn’t there one other figure hinted at?
 
Right now, it actually says my pre ordered Vintage Mer-Man is processing at Wal-Mart. That is one step further than these figure pre orders usually get lol.

It would be nice if him and Beast Man just, you know........shipped. That would be amazing.

But one way or another, I'll get them.

They all look great together in your pic NORM.
 
Man, I've paid almost no attention to the vintage collection figures. I started suffering from Mastervese fatigue a couple years ago, somewhere in the middle of the New Eternia stuff.

But the VC stuff looks fantastic together in Norm's pic. I really like the look of Teela and Man-At-Arms.
