Marvel Legends Gamerverse

Tired: MvC character designs

Wired: Tōkon Fighting Souls character designs

I mean goddamn, that came out of nowhere to blow everyone's socks off. I deffo need a Cap, Doom, and Robbie, stat.

Looking at images on Google, Hasbro wanted they could keep this particular Gamerverse theme going for quite sometime. It would be great if we could get the Target link for the Psylocke/Thanos 2-pack before tomorrow morning.
Yep. That's gonna sell out in 3 hot milliseconds.

Meh. That Tokon game reeks of All flash, no substance to me. Give me the classics any day. I don’t care for the overdesigned costumes in Tokon and I don’t think interest in this game will expand beyond those who consider themselves casual gamers in the fighting game space. Hell we don’t even know if it will be region locked yet and Hasbro probably won’t make figures that are solely for an exclusive title that is only available in Asia

Cap's head is the size of his palm in that game, lol. It's like the polar opposite of ML bobblehead design. But as far as execution goes, there's a lot of coats and layered clothing in the designs and ML just isn't good at those things. Spidey and Iron Man would make for cool figures.

And it doesn't look like the art you posted.

The art he posted is from the game loading and win screens that appear before and after fighting matches, and it was always clear that it was drawn by a different artist from the in-game art. The actual game art is at such a low resolution as was typical in the 1990s that you can't fully make the hair details out.

Here's how he looks in motion where you don't notice the low resolution quite as much as well as how he looks in a still image. Difficult or impossible to really compare his hair to the figure, but in general they did use comic-style dark lines throughout the art so the figure looks generally accurate to the game as far as I can tell.

He's cheating a little by flexing the wrists, too. This range is acceptable, though. Looks about the same as the current Wolverine body.

If it's different it's by at most five degrees, but I just checked a few 2024 Legends Wolverine figures and can't definitively tell that the Capcom version has less range. If you're not getting better range of motion from a double-joint then you shouldn't use it because it's uglier than a single-joint.

Don't be silly, it's literally unveiled during a worldwide Sony State of Play using one of the most popular and recognizable IPs on the planet. Of course it's getting released everywhere. And saying there's no substance is incredibly premature, it's a very peculiar stance to take in my eyes. Arcsys are one of the top developers of fighting games of the last decade.

My main point is the MvC figures, bar maybe a couple, basically just the regular everyday versions of the characters we've seen a dozen times before. I'm rather digging that we're getting new designs from outside the typical viewpoint.

Elbows are less than I get and actually use on my recent Logans (Astonishing, Secret Wars, 97, and I even broke out the old Apoc Tiger) but not a deal breaker.

There's a few old '90s poses that are like my go-to whenever I get a Wolverine, and some of them do bring that hand up to the shoulder.

But I also agreeeee.

Also you have to figure that the new Capcom Wolverine has an abnormally big bicep compared to previous Wolverine figures which if we must be honest, builds that some might consider too skinny for the character. Especially the X-Men 97 body. If you compare the amount of muscle groups in the arms and legs between the 80th anniversary body, the 97 body and more recent “new” bodies like the astonishing and the Capcom bodies it’s night and day. Wolverine is appropriately beefier in the right places in Hasbro’s more recent attempts

Missed wolverine and silver samurai on Amazon, what was the price there? BBTS has it up for $60 minus the tariff surcharge and that just feels nuts.

Oh yeah. I was the one who really wanted them to go in on the Bengus art and they didn't with the portraits, but they are going places with some of the proportions on the characters so I'll take it. Not like I'm lacking in yellow Wolvies

Ah...Decisions, decisions. I really do like the new Wolverine but we'll see him again.
