G.I. Joe Classified - News & Updates

Fair. Like I said, it's just something I heard and not from a source I'd say has enough perfect inside information to be 'I believe this 100%.' It does track with what so many other companies are doing and all it takes is one guy to think it's really good idea and now that's what the company is doing.
I'm pretty sure it was also mentioned in WotC's complaints that they do not want to be expected or asked to use AI for any element of their jobs. But maybe that's just a very smart preemptive demand.
Definitely a preemptive demand (and a smart one - every union should be doing it, because everyone is one executive shift away from being fucked by it). During the investor call this year, when the Cocks is most likely to be pro-AI, he said they aren't requiring it of creative teams and are mostly looking for ways to use it with things like accounting and inventory tracking (which, knowing how bad AI is, is objectively stupid to say, but...). But Cocks himself has ping-ponged about AI a few times so anyone in a creative role there ABSOLUTELY should be locking down a no-AI stance.

Saw an article yesterday that one of Mattel's shareholders suggested they sell to private equitybor to Hasbro. It's sad how shitty the business of making something that brings joy turns out.
If Mattel sells to private equity we all might as well grab whatever we like from them right now, cos it'll be a corpse of a company in five years. God, PE is a cancer on our world. Just fucking ticks in human bodies.

But also every single day in this world we see that most shareholders / investor class people are the dumbest cunts on Earth.

Well at least it seems he got out on his own terms versus layoffs. My life is so busy right now that I don’t really know anything about the current CEO. I did drive by the old Toys R Us location with the family last week and we were talking about how much fun that store used to be. My youngest doesn’t even remember it since it has been gone so long. I explained to the kids why and how it went under.

I wonder what this turnover does to the future of Classified. Thankfully I have just about all the figures I would consider big wants.

Also with Boss Fight picking up its hiring I am wondering what they have planned and if it includes any new IPs. Although didn’t BF do some crappy things to its employees too? I never got the specifics but I know Damien has posted some about them.

Well bummer. Not a bummer that Tony will be applying his skill at another toy maker. I hope they make some cool stuff together.

Bummer in that it is an end. I thought Classified was trucking on all cylinders and these moves for whatever reason cast a different shadow.

I’m thrilled with what I have. I am curious what is still to come. Nevertheless it’s a bummer as it feels like the lights are being flipped on and off as a not so subtle hint the party is over.

Thwipp!

My concern is how often new people in charge feel the need to make changes just to swing their dick around no matter what was working or not. As long as they take their cues from the old line, offer cool little updates here and there, and slip a neat original character in evey wave or two, I am into it.

I'm maybe a half-dozen characters away from being "oh well" if the line came to an end with the team leaving. Maybe the future is still bright, who knows, but I'm pretty much only going to be gutted if we never get Spearhead and Max the last two 013, and Scoop. I mean there's like 50 more characters/variants I'm into, but if a meteor landed on Hasbro tomorrow I can count on one hand figures I'd be trying to kitbash my own version of.

There's a lot of characters I can do without at this point, if it comes to that. But I'm going to be genuinely devastated if it ends without a proper v3 Ninja Force Storm Shadow - as you all already know. To me, that'll be like having an entire MOTU collection without a He-Man.

Oof. I’ve got a *long* list before I am remotely ready to be “done” with Classified. Guess I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed.

I'm done as far as core wants, even cleaned up a lot of the overspray I hadn't planned on. Would love the line to continue with nostalgia and new things, though.

Yeah, when I think of the handful I'd be gutted to not get, I also know that this is currently still my absolute favorite line and hope wet get a Marvel Legends type constant stream of figures for years. I guess the tough part is they set the bar at the TOP early on and haven't slacked so of course a lot of us are holding our breath to see if that stays the same.

Classified Skyhawk. This is my last wish. If I can see this made my Classified will be complete. I do have most all of the figures I wanted. Now it’s about discovering new characters I didn’t have as a kid or new characters in general.

Eh we’ll see.

Thwipp!

Spearhead and Max
Shipwreck in knit cap and sweater

I’d agree with the Skyhawk, but I also have the third party version.

Those would be my last wishes in a line that I’d already consider dwindling in terms of my desire for what it’s currently offering. But what a beautiful line it is.

Or Two-Bad?....................Sorry I just had to.... 😜

I will say I agree that it is weird that both Lenny and Tony jumped ship to Boss Fight. It isn't like Boss Fight is a big company pumping out a lot of product. How do they compare to say Mythic Legions or Valaverse in regards to amount of product released in a year? It would definitely be funny to find out that Lenny and Tony jumped ship only to find out Boss Fight made a deal to be the contract designer/manufacturer of Classified. I don't think that is happening, but I wouldn't be surprised to find out down the road that Lenny and Tony still did the odd job for Classified on a contractor basis.

As for Classified. I don't think we have too much to worry about. The last quarterly update call did mention that Classified was still a strong performer for Hasbro (as little as action figures make up their bottom line). So unless something has changed I think it is safe to say it will be continuing for some time. Especially if the Energon Universe cartoon comes to pass. Hasbro won't want to miss out on getting some product out for sales on a media property.

Regarding designs. I am not going to worry until we see some product from whoever takes over. Joe has survived lead design changes multiple times before. If anything we got spoiled because Lenny stayed on the line so long (and started it). So as others have said it could lead to some new and interesting design choices.
