Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

I have Prime because an insane amount of my book business funnels through them and so it helps to have stuff optimized. And so occasionally I accidentally have toys overnighted to me when what I really need it for is stock for comic cons.

That's valid. I guess I also watch Prime sometimes and have audible credits?

But I do want my toys now.

We're at Now now. We passed Then. When will Then be Now? Soon. At 14.99.

I mean, I have Prime, but overnight has never been an option for me. Maybe my market is too small.

Sometimes if I order early enough in the day, I can get something the following afternoon/evening, but early morning delivery like that? Never encountered such a possibility.

In the LA area, they seem to *want* to deliver overnight/early in the morning, I have to constantly downgrade from 4-8am to, like, 10-3, because some of those early morning deliveries have disappeared or been poorly delivered.

Ah, yeah, I live in the Greater Toronto Area, so many items have a Next Day at 4-8am option. Not everything, but quite a lot. Sometimes it's not even a big deal because it would come next day in the afternoon anyway with the other option.

Probably closer to red carpet scale.

But it is funny the basic figure has Black Series articulation. Elbow range is weak, though. She looks closer to Camila in hand than the promos, and I will of course be dumping her for the Chronicles as I can, but.

For now.

Also she has a trigger hand for her gun.

I appreciate this comparison. I considered getting Core Teela just as a place holder, but this will not be necessary. I am glad they put as much effort into the Core head sculpts as they would the Chronicles. Or at least enough effort for them to not look so different.

I have gotten the overnight delivery option, but it's not always on the same items, and not any day that it's available. It's usually on staple kinds of items like lightbulbs or something. I've even gotten same day delivery options, where I order and receive just a few hours later. Which is apparently happening today with these fucking MotU figures.

One of my wildest overnight deliveries was the recent Classified series Special Forces guy, which was just suddenly, magically available one evening with no warning for delivery like six hours later.

My Walmart had the Chronicles He-Man, Man-at-Arms and Tri-Klops today. I considered it and actually put MAA in my cart for a minute but put him back. I'll just wait for the non-movie figures. I expect these to be everywhere and hang around for a while.

Very limited options in the UK for Chronicles but managed to find He-Man on Amazon for delivery tomorrow so let's see what he's like. Given Masterverse has dried up at stores like Forbidden Planet it feels like these will be online only. I was hoping the movie would get them back in Smyths and Entertainer but looks like they're just stocking the core line.

I sometimes have the overnight option on Prime, but it really very much depends on what I'm looking at. I would guess the higher the population density near your local Amazon fulfillment center, the more stock they have there.

I believe they're "resting" the Masterverse line in favor of Chronicles. Which pissed me off a bit until I got a Chronicles in hand and now i"m like yeah okay fine you're right.

I should just preorder the ladies, huh. There's no way I'm NOT going to want Teela and Evil-Lyn.

Yeah, you should probably just pre-order. You're gonna get 'em, so why not.

I am dead certain that the 'resting' Masterverse line was because they couldn't say, and probably no one would have believed them if they'd said, that Chronicles is such a step forward for them in figure engineering that there will be basically no point in making more Masterverse figures after 2026. Also, standard lingo because Masterverse figures were still releasing when they made the announcement and saying 'we cancelled that line' is a perfect guarantee to tank sales on your final items.

Ok, my Amazon order arrived and all I’ve opened is He-Man and Battle Cat. The packaging is a little confusing because from the sides, they show HM and Skeletor, so I thought they sent me doubles. But the way it’s designed, you see the front of the package has the corresponding character that’s in the package, facing off against either HM or Skel. It’s interesting. You’ll see.

He-Man has some major five-head going on. Looks like his hair may be glued too high? But it looks like it’s meant to be that high? I’ll have to compare to other copies. The body is in fact shared with KG. His harness covers most of his chest like a tight cropped sleeveless shirt. Tunic is soft enough to not inhibit leg movement. These ball ankles have really limited range though, I’m finding. His waist is also very gappy at the belt. Can’t find a way to adjust that.

Battle Cat is a sight to behold. Those are the best working glass eyes I’ve seen executed on a figure. He stares at you from every angle. The helmet does not stay on well at all, slightest nudge and it’s falling off. The legs have a mix of too-tight joints (at the ankles) and too-loose (at the knees) that he has trouble maintaining a pose without buckling under his own weight, let alone with HM riding. Speaking of that, the tunic has to ride up a bit to situate him on the saddle. The saddle is the most secure I’ve seen on a BC thanks to straps that wrap around the shoulders chest and belly. He has detent ball socket shoulders and hips, ball hinge knees and ankles and tail, probably ball sockets in the head, neck, ribs and waist. And a hinge jaw. Always a nice touch. He is beefy, but not heavy. Majority seems to be ABS plastic (head, neck, torso) while the limbs are probably PVC. I think I will display without the helmet, despite a very unsightly seam down the middle of his face, and without HM riding so as to not stretch out the tunic.

Saving Skeletor, MAA, Tri-Klops for when Trap Jaw arrives Monday.

I love how the Masterverse BC looks like a well-fed, beloved, but not particularly smart house cat and the Chronicles BC looks like ten miles of bad road street cat. I'm gonna keep both, but the difference is WILD.

I waited, went out to dinner, came home, and just preordered the gals. If there's any characters I'm NOT going to wait for a discount on it's them.

And yeah, don't say you've canceled a line when you've got a year of product coming out, fer sher. I will fully defend what we got from Masterverse, they were a lot of fun for someone like me who COMPLETELY missed Classics, but this new line has me amped. I'm actually gonna keep my MV figures anyway, they spark joy. Especially since I JUST Frankensteined my perfect "aged and tired" version of He-Man using the parts from a few different figures.

If you can, post pics of that kitbashed He-Man (in the Masteverse thread! Keep it alive!)
